On a Lois streak

Ok, so I didn't pick up Not For Us Alone like I said I would. My excuse is that I need to find my Autopsy of the Montenegrin Stitch book by Amy Mitten to help me with the next part. I'm on a Lois Minshall streak instead. Here's my progress as of this morning. It's a sunny day for once!

I'm enjoying this one now that I'm on a roll.

Lois is rather tortuous in that she has all these little over one motifs. I can never make over one on 40ct work -- I can only handle over one letters. Anything else, the fabric just bunches and the stitches don't fit. Soooooo, I'm cheating and just doing over one tent instead. Fits a lot better. Hopefully, it doesn't look too terrible.

The girl child is coming home tonight for midterm break from college. It'll be nice to have her home for a week. Although it always means more work, more surprises, and an extra two kids in the house. Two kids, you say? Yes, her boyfriend is a senior in high school. He's always around when she's around. :D I know one thing for sure. The girl child will be needing lots of sleep. She's been pulling lots of all-nighters this week!

Off to start a stew in the slow cooker. Good way to have some dinner ready for someone whose arrival time is in the air. And with the girl child, you never know her plans until the plans are happening! lol!

Ooooh, it's coming along so well! You've really done a lot on it since the last pic. Tent stitch is fine, don't worry - you have to look really close to see the difference, esp. on 40ct!

Wow, you've really made fabulous progress on Lois, she's looking gorgeous! The tent stitch looks fine too, so no worries there :)

From the picture, I'd never know that you're doing over 1 tent stitch. I hear you about a full cross - I have the same problem. Lois is looking absolutely gorgeous!

Margaret, the colors are so lovely on Lois. Sounds like you are having fun stitching on her, and that is what it is all about, loving the journey. Your tent stitches look great, and I don't blame you for substituting them for over 1. Who could tell on such a high count? Fabulous progress, keep up the wonderful work!

YGG Margaret, Lois looks great! Your over one looks wonderful. I have to do the tent stitch on 40 ct, too. Have a great weekend, hope you get loads of stitching in!

Lois is so beautiful! I can't believe how fast you stitch. Over one is a PITA no matter what the count, so tent stitch on 40 ct is perfectly acceptable. Heck I am in awe of anyone who can stitch anything on 40 ct........36 ct is tops for me.

Enjoy your time with the girl child.

Margaret - your progress is amazing - love your Lois - she is a beauty - 40ct over one - makes my head hurt ! I struggled thru a stupid snail on my SL sampler on 32ct and finally gave up and succumbed to tent and it looked 100 times better and it will just have to do! Enjoy your week with DD - hope you find time for a few stitches - Mel

Margaret, your piece is just BEAUTIFUL!! I'm sure you're proud of yourself..and I can't tell the over 1 is the tent stitch. You go girl. Have fun with your girl child. My oldest grand-daughter will be home from college next weekend and she's bringing one of her roommates. I'm looking forward to some good hugs (and stitching of course). Have a great week!!

Margaret... your Lois is beautiful. I love the colors. I also just stitch the tent stitch for over one on 40 ct. Just step back a foot or two from the sampler... you can not tell the difference.

Enjoy your time with your 'girl child'.

I think it looks lovely, and I don't don't how you aren't going blind! The tent stitches are more than fine and such a good idea. You've accomplished a ton. LOL about the girl child. I can always tell when it's spring break (other than the fact that I am on spring break from my classes too) because the number of parked cars on our street double. All of my neighbors have three kids a family, minimum, so with everyone home from school, it's 5 or 6 cars to a house instead of 2. And you can tell the kids are getting caught up on their sleep; none of those cars move until after 1 p.m.!
