Almost October?!

I got distracted from stitching this week -- decided to start knitting since it finally felt cool enough not to sweat while knitting.

This is the Funchal Moebius by Kate Davies.   I'm using Finch fingering yarn by Quince & Co.  The colors are Bird's Egg and Slate, I think.  My tension is off as usual.  This might end up being skinnier than it should be, but since it's a cowl, what the heck.

I did get back to my stitching just a bit on Sunday -- to His Eye is on the Sparrow.  Just a bit though.

I'm looking forward to stitching the cow next!

Here is my fussy cut star for this week.  I think we're up to 39 stars now!

This is a fabric from the Prince Charming fabric collection by Tula Pink.

The father type and I went out for a belated birthday lunch to Hudson House in Cold Spring, NY.  It was a delicious lunch in one of our favorite places.  I still remember going to Hudson House for Mother's Day one year with the father type's parents.  What sticks in my head is going out to the car to breast feed this little one I had.  It must have been the boy child -- he was still pretty tiny!

Mia has decided that it's fall weather now as well.  She's back in her warm bed, complete with bubble wrap lining.  She only uses it when it's cold outside, so it must be fall!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

New starts, and finishes - sort of

I have a finish that I started this week.  I am waiting for the beautiful robin's egg blue box and the ric rac trim to come so that I can have a real finish.  But the stitching is done.

This is Autumn Posy by Plum Street Samplers.  I absolutely love this design and had to get it.

I had another new start once I finished Autumn Posy.  It's His Eye is on the Sparrow by Heartstring Samplery.

I love the colors on this one.  It's a biggie!  I'm using 40ct Doubloon linen by Picture this Plus and the called for GAST and WDW threads.

I also finished all the hexies on my hexagon purse.  Pictured is the two sides rolled up plus the bottom of the purse.  Now I just have to psyche myself up to finish it into a purse!

(You can also see a bit of Mia and her button in the upper left corner.)

And here is my fussy cut star for the week.  I think it's number 38!  It's another fabric from the Blue and White collection by Michael Miller.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  Hope you don't mind 2 posts in one day!  Have a great week!

Birthday boy

Happy 55th birthday to my darling father type.  I love you and cherish you.

Finally, a finish!

I finished my Hornbook Bestiary!!!  Hooray!

Hornbook Bestiary by Scarlet Letter
using the AVAS silks and the linen from kit
Done in tent stitch and basket weave stitch over one on 35ct. linen

I did manage to leave the grass off of the zebra block.  But I actually like how the zebra looks without it.  And I wasn't about to go back and fix it.  lol!

Here is my fussy cut star for the week, using the same fabric from the Blue and White collection by Michael Miller.

And here is Mia.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

stitchin' while watchin' tennis

The US Open makes for good stitching time.  Here is my Hornbook Bestiary as of now.

As you can see, I've finished another row, and I've gotten Mr. Mick Jagger outlined and am filling him in.  Mick Jagger, you ask?  That's what Lisa of The Inspired Stitcher  blog named the fish in the W block when she was stitching him.  lol!  I think it's perfect and I've thought of him that way ever since!  (Can you see why it's the perfect name?)

Anyway, here are more pics of the hornbook.

I finished the second side of my hexie purse.  I just need to make the bottom, and then I get to figure out how to make it into a purse!

And here's my fussy cut star for this week.  I used a fabric from the Blue and White collection by Michael Miller.

Been watching the US Open tennis as much as possible.  I still can't believe the men's final will not have any of the top 4 men in it!  I was expecting a Djokovic versus Federer match.  It will be interesting to see who wins!  I'm loving the coaches involved -- I watched all of them when they were at their primes.  So much fun to see the influence they've each had on their charges.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

empty nest again

Here is my Hornbook Bestiary progress.

I love the sheep so much -- I'm glad he's there to represent wooly goodness.  The turkey is a bit early, but he's ready when he's needed!

I'm making slow progress on the second side of the hexie purse now that I'm home.  But I do love it!

Can you see it?  It's sitting on the father type's laptop.  lol!

And here's my fussy cut Friday star -- still using the octopus fabric from Tula Pink's Salt Water collection.

The boy child was home for most of the week.  He and Mia got a lot of cuddles in.

But then on Friday, it was time for this once again.  (See the train in the distance?  Sigh....)

Back to Boston to get ready for the new school year.  The boy child's classes start on September 8.  I can't believe it's that time again!

I'm enjoying the US Open tennis so far.  The last slam of the year is going great so far!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!
