What the heck? (Nice sweater too!) Turns out we were just in time for the changing of the guard. Which we didn't even realize. lol!
If you look carefully, you'll see the horse guards. ?? Is that what they are?
We crossed the road and ended up seeing this.
We got closer to the palace after all the hubbub.
Everything was so pretty!
Next, we headed to......
Big Ben!! And the Houses of Parliament.
With the London Eye right there across the river!
We went to Westminster Abbey, where you weren't allowed to take pictures inside.
The father type said his finger slipped a couple of times.
What a thrill to see Poet's Corner where so many of my favorites are either buried or commemorated! Charles Dickens was my first and favorite British author. And Handel was right there too! And yes, that's Rudyard Kipling. Too many names to mention -- so amazing! (Yes, those are my feet.)
And who knew that Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Mary are buried one on top of the other? I bet they love that! lol!
We looked at Golden Jubilee Bridge.
And wandered over to Trafalgar Square too.
Oh, and here is an entrance to a tube station. They pretty much all had these escalators/stairways.
And I think that's it for day 2!

I love seeing London through your eyes--please tell me you went to Victoria and Albert museum to look at samplers
Yes, this is so cool! I can't imagine seeing it in person. Wow!
Fun,fun, fun! Looks like the weather was nice.
The Abbey is a fabulous place! Funny how has their favourite spots: for me they're Newton's grave, the coronation chair (it still had the stone from Scotland under the seat when I last saw it!), and the breathtaking fan ceiling of Henry VII's Chapel.
This is so much fun Margaret - I almost feel like I sent with you - lol. Can't wait to hear/see what's up next.
I meant Went with you...not Sent. Foggy brain morning.....
What a treat to share in your adventures! Thanks Margaret!
Wow!!! How great the crests (?) on the palace gates are! They're not even low-level reliefs any more--more like wall(gate)-mounted sculptures. Everything's so gorgeous!
What a wonderful trip you had!
Did you see in the news about the couple who were "run over" by the guards? Guess they don't make any detours in their path.
Awesome pictures Margaret. Thanks for taking us along with you. Did you go on the London Eye?
Linda
Your sure hit the high spots! I was in London once many years ago and that set of photos reminds me of our wanderings at the time. Lucky you to see the changing of the guard! Love that big smile on your face.. that's the best part.
I sat down and shed a few tears in the Poets Corner. I couldn't get over the creativity and talent buried there.

It's like being back in London Margaret, I'm enjoying your posts very much.
Looks like you had perfect weather! Your pictures make me feel like I was right there with you.
I'm lovin' your tour. Keep the pictures coming!
Hugs :)

The architecture and size of the old structures fascinate me. That's a lot of viewing for one day - you must have been tired!
We haven't been to London in 15 years. Your pictures are bringing back lots of great memories!
Margaret - what a busy day you had! I too love all the memorials in Westminster - very cool. Isn't it amazing to finally be at places you've only ever read about? And there you are - it is almost surreal I think.
How lucky you were to see the changing of the guard - you look like you are getting to see lots on Day 2.
This is really cool, all the essential places of London gathered here. Poet's Corner is something I'd like to see as well. And the changing of the guards.
