Visiting the girl child

Here is my Yuletide Welcome.

Just the banner, the over one words, and the red in the border to go!  (Sorry about the poor picture.)

As you can see, I like to do the background behind the words before stitching the words themselves.

A long way to go on the banner.  Yikes!

This past weekend, we went down to see the girl child.  She recently moved to some new digs so we had to lug a couple of pieces of furniture home.  And we took the opportunity to just hang out.  It was so nice to have some time with our girl.

As you can see, she's the photogenic one.

Mia has been finding her way into her new routine without the boy child.  It's taken her a while to settle into what she likes and doesn't like without the boy child around to bother her constantly.  She does still like the laundry hamper though.

She likes to be taken for a ride while inside it.  And to sit inside it.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

You look so serious while your girl looks so full of mirth! (No doubt she was teasing you...) Love your Yuletide Welcome. Funny that Kitten-Kitten likes to sleep and ride in the rolling hamper also. When we're old, we can wheel our cats around in our hampers!

I got choked up seeing you and your daughter just enjoying each other. I love it and hope to still have that with our Madeleine when she is a young lady. =)

Yuletide Sampler looks fantastic. I tend to do the background and then the words too. Hope I can get mine done this year!!! So happy that you're able to get to visit your daughter. Such a beautiful girl!!

Fabulous!! Your sampler is coming along :) I am not sure I could do the filling in first, then the letters...for me there is a great chance of mistake!! LOL.
Love seeing the pics of you and your daughter! I know she was thrilled you were there and you both had a great time!!!!!

Yuletide is so pretty...now you have the 'fussy stuff' to stitch. How nice to spend time with your daughter. Mia looks like she is one again in command of your household.

How nice you had a chance to visit with your daughter. She looks lovely as always. She looks like she's teasing you, much like what my son likes to do to me!

Ahh, Yuletide Welcome - how fabulous! The border met but then the pattern looks pretty even in the design?

I've been stitching a lot of "filling in" (eg grass, house). So tedious. Do you have any tricks to turn this into less tedious? Hum a little tune? ;-)

Glad Mia is settling into a new routine.

I just love the colors of Yuletide Welcome! I'm not familiar with the pattern, so it will be a beautiful surprise when you finish the dreaded banner.

Lovely to see a photo of you Margaret and of Mia looking so cute, as always. The Yuletide piece is so bonnie, I bought it when it was released and haven't stitched a stitch for weeks on end, very frustrating.

Your sampler looks wonderful...I guess next time we'll see a finish.

Glad that you all were able to spend some time with your daughter.

Your sampler look great. Do you do the boring background first so the letters are your 'dessert' if you finish the meat and potatoes?

Nice to spend time with your daughter. Maybe your expression doesn't show it, but I'm sure your were having fun!

Mia looks so tiny in the laundry basket! Family time is always good!

I go back and forth as to what should be stitched first, the background or the words? How did you end up always wanting to do the background first?

It's funny about the banner and the letters. I thought to myself, wow the color she's using for the letters really isn't showing up! What a dingbat I can be!

I love that sampler! Yikes, I've been away from blog-land for so long but I've just caught up on everyone's progress. I hope you enjoyed your weekend with your daughter - you two look so much alike :) And Mia is wonderful as always. I sometimes use her cuteness to try and wear down my DH on us getting a cat ;)

Love your Yuletide Margaret - I just started mine on Sunday but I changed the NPI to BS - I actually used the NPI to make as close a match as possible - I'm uncertain about using the rest of the colors called for but we'll see. Are you doing Paulettes Christmas Sunday stitching project? I'm such a sucker - of course I am all in on that one. Glad you had time to visit your DD - take care Mel

Just beautiful, Margaret--I bet you'll have a finish in no time now. You are the speediest stitcher I know!! Do you always use 40 ct. for your samplers?

Nice to visit your daughter--hope she enjoys her new place :)

Your stitching is lovely. Is there any reason you prefer to stitch the background behind letters before the letters themselves? I'm just the opposite, lol. We all have our own ways of going about it, yes? http://everythreadstory.blogspot.com/

Love your yellow house, a great sampler!
Fun to spend DD time, very special.
Mia is too cute. On my last flight a lady waiting at the gate with me had two kittens flying with her. Of course I was only too happy to play with one while we waited. Tired kittens fly better :-)
