Pick me ups

I couldn't help myself.  This week I put Dorothy aside and started a new project from Market.

A Yuletide Welcome by Plum Street Samplers
40ct in the called for linen
called for GAST and NPI

I've wanted to stitch this one since I first saw the pictures for it from the Shepherd's Bush retreat.  Paulette has been hitting it out of the ballpark with her designs recently.  As you can see, the border has been neglected for the lovely stuff on the inside.  lol!

You might have noticed the lovely Elizabeth I Needleminder sitting there in the picture.  Isn't it cute?  Paula of Kelmscott Designs sent it to me.  The scissors are very small and act as your needleminder.  They match the Elizabeth I scissors.  I love it!  Thank you, Paula!

A Yuletide Welcome and the needleminder were just two of the pick me ups that I had this week from my empty nest.  My dear friend Laurie from Corgi Cottage sent me two packages containing lots more pick me ups.  Look at all this!

And this!

Oh my gosh, it was one thing after another in this package!   I know it's hard to tell what all is there, but among other things, a lovely Emma Bridgewater mug, a pin cushion, lots of fabric, a stitching wallet made of Tula Pink fabric from Stitching 4 Joy, a Laundry Baskets Quilts calendar, -- and more!  Thank you so so much for a wonderful pick me up, Laurie!

This past weekend, the father type and I took a little drive up to our favorite antiquing town.

We had a nice lunch there and wandered around.  And we ended up buying some things.  Mostly from Go Go Pops.  This store has a wonderful selection of home made pops, unusual sodas, and.....  chocolate!

The top two items (the Ritter Sport Hazelnut chocolate and the Prince George magnet) were from The Country Goose.  But the rest were from Go Go Pops.  Father Type and I have been sampling slowly all weekend.  lol!  The colorful seeds on the far left are chocolate covered sunflower seeds!

Mia has been very clingy and needy since the boy child went back to college.  It might take her a while to settle back into the empty nest.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.

Mmmmmm, love Ritter Sport! I may have ordered a case (14?) of the marzipan ones from Amazon last winter and had them all gone by summer. (I learned I can not order them by the case ever again, delicious as it was. Ha.)
Love the new start! That is a great pattern. And the goodies are crazy great too. Crazy, crazy great!

Your post was my Monday pick me up. :) Love your new start! And fabulous goodies from Laurie! I could almost taste that yummy chocolate through the screen! There is just something about laundry that invites a cat to lay on it. :) Hope Mia adapts quickly to the empty nest again - give her a little scratch on the head for me.

sounds wonderful! love all the goodies Laurie sent you. I have so many new charts, including A Yuletide Welcome, I just don't know what to start on first!

Melody said...

Oh, Margaret, I love that you started Yuletide Welcome! I was just admiring this one at country sampler on Monday. I had it in my hands but put it back thinking I have sooo much at home waiting to be stitched, did I need another chart to add to my pile??!! ha. I am glad you are doing it tho, I think it's beautiful.

Vonna Pfeiffer said...

Oh golly... I wanna start that one too. I agree about Paulette and hitting it out of the park on her designs. You've already stitched a lot on Yuletide! Lots of gorgeous gifts and wins too :)

And ohhh, look at all the treasures Laurie sent you. Fantastic! I bet you could roll in them, lol.

Our tastes are so similar Margaret - Yuletide was the only piece I bought from the market fray. I haven't started it yet - I am thinking of converting the NPI to BS and frankly I can't put the knitting needles down long enough to focus on stitching. Great gifts from Laurie - she must want you to keep quilting with all that temptation. Hope you will keep knitting - fall is the best for knitting cozy woolies. Take care and enjoy your weekend - Mel

Oooh! I'm so glad you are working on one of my favourite PSS releases from the St. charles market. Such a pretty design. Lovely little needleminder too. Sweet pick me up gifts from Laurie for you. When I first read "Prince George magnet" I thought "How the heck did a PG magnet get over to the east coast?!" That's my city in BC!! Then I looked closely and saw it was the ROYAL Prince George! haha!!Of course that made better sense than my first thought! Give mia a little snuggle for me!

Hugs!

Lovely new start on PS 'A Yuletide Welcome'. I just saw that design too in my LNS and was thinking that I might need to add it to my stash:) Love that beautiful little Elizabeth I needleminder too, and just bought one.

What wonderful goodies you received from Laurie. What a perfect weekend you had with your hubby....antiquing and adding to your chocolate stash, the perfect ending for every woman's day!

Hugs & Blessings!

I love that little Santa...hope you all adjust quickly to the empty nest once again. Although mine is still home, he is never here...different, I know but still an adjustment to "one more step closer to the door". Chocolate is always good...and you pick-me up, cool!
