Rachel, TUSAL, gift

Here is my Rachel.  I seem to have another naked bird.

Not sure why it looks so crooked on the bottom.  But I finished the right border, and that line on the bottom is the beginnings of grass.  Looks like everything should meet up border-wise.  Yay!  Not as much done as I'd like, but these things happen.

This next picture has my TUSAL orts in it.   It also has a lovely gift I received from Melinda at Merry Wind Farm.   Melinda saw my post with the skeleton keys I bought from the antique store.  She sent me a key from her grandfather's collection.

I love the key -- a very substantial one! -- and the card she sent too.  Thanks so much, Melinda!

And there are my orts for the month.  Lots of red from the flowers in Rachel's border.

The other day I went to a local quilt store just for fun.  It's a small one, but it carries things like Oakshott fabric and Daiwabo.  I came home with a few fat quarters of various sorts, laid my bag on the bed, turned my back for a minute, and this is what I saw when I came back.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but that's my Oakshott fabric to her right and underneath her.  lol!  The rest is in the bag.  I guess Mia loves fabric too.  lol!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

ETA:  Just wanted to add this in.  The boy child is fine.  He is at my sister's house for the 3 day weekend.  He will be riding in to Boston tomorrow assuming classes are on.  There were no classes today, so he was not in Boston and wasn't close to the bombings, thank God.  My heart is heavy.  I am saying prayers for those affected by this tragedy.

Cats have a knack of homing in on anything new that comes through the door. Mia is such a pretty girl, I do look forward to seeing her every Monday.

You're making such great progress on Rachel!! And I have to chuckle at Mia. Those animals just love to sit on new fabrics for some reason!! Maybe she's trying to tell you that you need to make her a quilt.

Oh its gorgeous! (sometimes my linen gets a bit crookedy looking from stitching and I just stretch it out and its "normal")
Kitties are wonderful :)

Half the fun of having a naked bird is dressing the bird. Rachel is beautiful. I have her on order but I'm still waiting ... must be the silks !!

Mia is adorable. What is it that makes the cats sleep on every single item brought into the home ??

Have a great week dear friend.

Ahhhhh, such a great feeling of relief, that moment when you know for sure the border matches up. I am doing a piece right now that, sadly, will not have that moment for me. lol (But I can fudge it so no one will know. :))

Rachel looks fabulous. Bird doesn't look crooked to me and it will probably all right itself in the end in any case.

Mia looks so big in the photos. Not the teeny kitten she once was. All your babies are growing up!

Rachel is stunning! I love the birds even the naked one! Such a lovely gift from Melinda! That key is so special since it's from her grandfather and I know you'll cherish it. Aww, sweet Mia wants to help you with your quilting! Or she just wants you to make one for her!!

Rachel looks so pretty! Mia is so funny! So many cats seem to have the knack that it's fabric they aren't supposed to be lying on! lol

I came to your blog looking to make sure your son was okay. I am so glad to hear he's out of Boston. I have a friend who finished just before. Thank goodness she is okay and my heart goes out to those who are not!

Rachel is looking good - glad your borders are matching.

I lay a quilt out on the floor to decide rows and such - dog magnet...he's there before I can move away. Funny pets we have!

Have a good week, Margaret!

Rachel is looking great Margaret. Mia is a cutie. Everytime I move something or bring something in, one of the critters has to investigate.

Lol at Mia, cats have an uncanny knack for zeroing on on the things we particularly don't want covered in cat fur
