September???

I seem to have missed posting any knitting updates in August.  Whoops!  Well, I did finish a couple of things.  Here is my Like a Cloud.

I used the called for Shibui Cima and Silk Cloud held together.

And here is the Lucerne hat, which I finished while on vacation.  I used the new Brooklyn Tweed Peerie yarn from a kit they sell online.

Both kids tried it on, but the girl child claimed it in the end.

Vacation is my excuse for missing an August knitting post.  It was wonderful to be all together again with both kids, up in our favorite place to be, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

While there, I started and finished one sock of my Basecamp Socks -- my first ever socks.

I'm using Mondim by Retrosaria Pomar, a non super wash yarn.  I'm really enjoying the knit.  I'm on the leg of the second sock (the pattern is toe up).  Not much farther to go till the socks are finished!  Then I want to knit more socks.  And get back to sweater knitting too.

Here are a few pictures from our vacation.  We had at least three days where it was unusually hot and humid.  But it definitely wasn't as hot as it was back in New York.  It was interesting to notice how even a lot of businesses and restaurants didn't have air conditioning.  They aren't used to this unusual weather everyone has been having this summer.  Anyway, here are some pics.

And here is Mia, very happy that we are home, checking out my Mason Dixon Knitting tote.

Girl Child was back to the city by Saturday, but we had our boy child for another day before he had to leave for his life upstate today (Monday).  Mia was quite mad at him for having abandoned him for so long, but grudgingly cuddled with him anyway.

I'm sad that vacation is over.

I've been enjoying watching the US Open when I can.  It's fun to see the new Louis Armstrong stadium.

I hope everyone in the States has a great Labor Day.  Come on Autumn!  (Did I mention it's hot and humid again?)

ETA:  I finished my socks!  First pair of socks est fini!

I enjoyed reading your post Margaret and seeing your holiday snaps too. The latest knit you are modelling is just lovely - you've knitted it beautifully - anyone who doesn't knit won't know how hard it can be to knit a garment and get it just right.

Looks like it was a wonderful vacation and I know it is always good to have the family all together. Love the socks! I'm afraid I still have one languishing in a bag somewhere. : )

Lovely sweater and how wonderful that your kids tussled over who would take possession of the hat! I long to go to Maine - someday! Glad all is well with Miss Mia.

Your vacation spot views are great, glad you had family time. Poor Mia!!

I am always amazed at the intricate designs of your projects, but this sweater is my kind of sweater! I love that style, simple and long. May have to look up that pattern and pretend I would knit it.

OK. I just looked up the cardigan. Not impressed with their photos and finish. Yours looks SO much better, it hangs perfectly, the texture looks more uniform, it looks comfy and almost tailored. Their photos make it look really sloppy and thin!! You have magic needles!!

It's so nice that all four of you were able to enjoy Maine together, Margaret! I can't remember the last time we had all of our sons with us on a trip... And imagine it being so hot up there! I remember when we spent our honeymoon in Boothbay Harbor back in 1977 it was so, so cold... Neither of us had brought warm clothes because it was mid-July! Anyway, I really enjoyed seeing your photos as it brought back wonderful memories. I really do need to get up there again :)

Lovely new cardigan, hat and socks--your needles were flying once again this past month. I look forward to seeing what September brings!!

Hi Margaret. Vacation looks like it was wonderful (Mia would not agree). The sweater is fab of course and now I predict you will be addicted to knitting socks (I have only done coffee down). So quick and satisfying!!

These holiday pictures are just awesome. The Maine coast would be a place where I would love to spend my holidays as well. A/C isn't usual over here, we really have hot summers as the one we were having this year.
I love that sweater and also the hat. And these socks look really great.
