Busy!

Here is my progress on His Eye for this week.  I'm not showing the border where I did manage to stitch a few flowers as well.

I love that tiny owl, don't you?

I can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but for those of you stitching this piece, there are corrections on Beth Twist's blog.  Also, I ran out of WDW Havana and am getting low on GAST Caramel Corn.  And I'm using 40ct too, so if you are using a lower count, you definitely need more than one skein of those.  And you probably need more than one skein on 40ct too!  I'm pretty economical with my floss.

Here is my fussy cut star for the week, number 48 I believe.  I used a fabric from Horizon by Kate Spain.

Now for some catch up.  I neglected to tell you about my trip into NYC a couple of weeks ago.  I went in to have lunch with a very special lady, who I was so so happy to meet!  Ellen Chester!

I'm sure you all know that Ellen is the talented lady behind With My Needle.  She and I have been corresponding by email for quite a while, and now we have finally met in person!  My only regret is that I didn't get to meet Ellen's husband Tom.  One of these days I will make it to one of Ellen's classes.  I'm bound and determined!

I couldn't waste a day in NYC, so after our lovely lunch, I hopped on the subway to go to Soho for some Christmas shopping.  And a little shopping for myself too!

Yup!  I went to Purl Soho!  My second visit.  I really need to go more often.  lol!  Here is my stash.

I got some Purl Soho Line Weight yarn, the great Fringe Supply tote (It says, "Wool is an essential part of any high-fiber diet."), Some Fringe Supply removable stitch markers, and some ribbon embroidered with my initials (one with an M and one with a C).  I also picked up some of these from LaDuree.

Met the father type for dinner at Bareburger when he got out of work.

And then we went home together.  A lovely day!

This past weekend was, of course, Thanksgiving weekend!  Hooray!  Which meant this.

And this!

Ack!  Please ignore the mess behind the girl child.  lolol!

Yes, my two kid-lings came home!  So nice!  We had a lovely Thanksgiving together.

(Note the man bun on the boy child.  Loooong hair!)

The cook

The spread

But all too soon it was time to say goodbye again.

(Yes, that's the Sockhead hat I knitted for the boy child!)

So sad, but it will be Christmas break for the boy child in a few weeks, and the girl child will hopefully visit between now and Christmas too.  We hope!

Mia got a bit stressed by the kids being around.  She's gotten used to us old folks and our quiet ways.  She used my lap as a safe haven quite a bit.

Silly kitty.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

The look on Mia's face says it all! Kitties are so expressive with their feelings!

You have been busy and the next few days and weeks will be even busier.

What great times you have had. I am glad more are coming quickly again for you all too!

Magnificent progress on the sampler. I just ordered the chart for His Eye is on the Sparrow and must decide which linen to use. Thanks for mentioning the need for extra skeins. I am quite frugal with threads, too. I hate to run short so I would rather buy enough at the beginning than to worry about running out while in the midst of a project! How nice to meet Ellen Chester. I have stitched many of her designs over the years!
I love your newest star. This one pops!
What can I say about Laduree? They are melt in your mouth delicious macarons. We were just at a wedding in London. The bride is a pastry chef in Paris and gave everyone a box of Laduree macarons at their place setting.

I'm happy the kids were home for Thanksgiving.
It looks like you had a great visit in the big city! I'm sure lunch was fun meeting Ellen. Then, shopping after was a good idea! :)
Your sampler is coming along beautifully.

What a great post today. Your sampler is so great. Also your visit with Ellen was lucky for you. I have met Ellen and her husband Tom here in Wisconsin and they are great people and Ellen is a great inspiration. Your Thanksgiving dinner looks so like mine in years past- this year we did a restaurant :( Your knitting stash is so great. Love the bag. Well, here's looking to Christtmas when the kids will be home again :)

Oh how great to meet Ellen! What a treat that must've been.

Speaking of treats - shopping AND macaroons? And your DH made the big dinner? Oh, you are spoiled! ;-)

Lovely to see your family all together!

How awesome you were able to get together to meet Ellen Chester. Wow! It sounds like a fun day overall. So jealous of your PurlSoho stop. That is such a great store! Great progress on your sampler and cool star. I'm glad you had a great reunion with the family for Thanksgiving. Hopefully you weren't affected by the snow storm too much.

How cool to meet Ellen Chester in NYC. Plus such a great followup with your meanderings, shopping and dinner with your main man!

Margaret, I'm following your progress on HEIOTS with great excitement! My stash for it has been inventoried and am planning my own start at the first of the year.

How fun to meet up with Ellen for lunch! She taught a class for my old stitching group a few years ago so we had dinner with her and Tom that evening. Would so love to meet up with her again - and you too!

Looks like a typical family Thanksgiving. So glad you had time with the kids and kitty.

I love the picture of you and Ellen! She is an absolute sweetie and I'm glad you got to meet in person. Tom is a great guy too. My husband really enjoyed chatting with him one day!

It looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Christmas will come quickly and then Mia will probably be even more disturbed by the activity in the house.

Hi Margaret, Looks like you've been having fun. Love your stash...envious that you got to meet up with Ellen (one day, maybe, the 3 of us can get together in NY or NJ)...great progress on the Sparrow )the tiny owl is great...but then all the creatures are wonderful)...your turkey spread looks awesome and glad you had time with the kids! This is such a busy/crazy time of year -- watch Mia and see what she does (nap, nap, nap). We did make it to P'burgh for turkey day and Tyg left a dead mouse on the living room floor for us on our return - Yikes!!!

Your family Thanksgiving looks like it was a relaxing day--and how nice that your husband is the cook!

Such lovely pictures from your family Thanksgiving Day. For me, too, it's always great when all the kids are at home together. But that happens very rarely because they live far from us.

Meeting Ellen Chester, what a chance. It must have been so interesting to chat with this talented lady.
Great progress picture of your sampler.

Your trip to the city was quite eventful. I love Purls with all the beautifully colored yarns; such eye candy.
If you like Tea you might want to head to Harney and Sons in Soho. Next time I am there I must check out LaDuree for those French Macaroons, they look delicious.

Glad that you enjoyed time with your children! That is always the highlight of all holidays at my house. What a delicious looking spread of food!
