stitchin' while watchin' tennis

The US Open makes for good stitching time.  Here is my Hornbook Bestiary as of now.

As you can see, I've finished another row, and I've gotten Mr. Mick Jagger outlined and am filling him in.  Mick Jagger, you ask?  That's what Lisa of The Inspired Stitcher  blog named the fish in the W block when she was stitching him.  lol!  I think it's perfect and I've thought of him that way ever since!  (Can you see why it's the perfect name?)

Anyway, here are more pics of the hornbook.

I finished the second side of my hexie purse.  I just need to make the bottom, and then I get to figure out how to make it into a purse!

And here's my fussy cut star for this week.  I used a fabric from the Blue and White collection by Michael Miller.

Been watching the US Open tennis as much as possible.  I still can't believe the men's final will not have any of the top 4 men in it!  I was expecting a Djokovic versus Federer match.  It will be interesting to see who wins!  I'm loving the coaches involved -- I watched all of them when they were at their primes.  So much fun to see the influence they've each had on their charges.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

The Beastiary is coming along beautifully! Your stitching is just flawless!
I have this one in my stash somewhere. Think I might be taking a little break from samplers after The Knox Family, that is if I ever finish it!
I am looking to doing some knitting or quilting for a while.

The reference to Mike Jagger is funny. I can see why Lisa named him that - perfect!

Mia looks fascinated by whatever it is she's watching. Lovely progress on the hornbook, you know how much I'm enjoying this one. Andy Murray's mum was on our televisions last night as she is set to take part in Strictly Come Dancing - a hugely popular show over here.

Nothing like a good tennis match for a background to stitching!

I'd know those lips anywhere! Great progress on all your pieces. All are getting pretty close to done. Seems like you've made a ton of stars so far!

Wow, Margaret, The Beastiary is just gorgeous! In addition to A&E samplers, samplers with a saying and house, ornaments, halloween stitching, I just love alphabet samplers (sounds like there is not much cross stitch I don't love doesn't it? lol)
Your star is gorgeous as is your hexi purse!
Hope you and Mia continue o enjoy the tennis and happy stitching!

Mia is SO attentive! Chipmunk videos on the computer? Your hexy purse is going to be something special. You are a woman who is not afraid of color! I saw this video and immediately thought of you Margaret and your love of tennis. Take a look:

Oh yes, it's definitely him, Mr Mick Jagger. So great to see this piece getting bigger and bigger. There isn't a lot of cases left now. And I'm so curious to see how your will continue with your hexies purse. An interesting project indeed.

Ha! Too funny. Very apt name for that fish though. Makes me wonder what other rock star names we can come up with for some of the other animals. lol
