Not again......

I got some more done on the EF 1864 Sampler.

It really is a pretty one.

But once again, I got distracted.  And started something new.  I had to try out the 52/64ct linen that Jean from the Attic keeps touting.  Soooooo, I had to start a new sampler.  Of course!

1837 Crown Sampler by Plum Street Antiques
52/64ct Vintage Light Examplar linen by Lakeside
Gloriana Tudor Silks
This is how far I've gotten so far on the 1837 Crown Sampler.  I'm so happy that I CAN see the holes on this linen!  And I'm loving working with this linen.  It's a pleasure to work with!  I put my magnifiers in the picture to give you an idea of the size.

I've been feeling the urge to do a bit of knitting again as well.  My shoulder has been bothering me, which is why I put the knitting aside for a while.  But I couldn't stand it anymore.  So I continued with my Color Play Mohair Wrap.

Not much done yet.  But the Rowan Kid Silk Haze Stripe is wonderful stuff!

I have to put a picture of my pretty girl here.  She sent this picture to me to show me something, and I'm sure she doesn't expect the pic to appear on my blog.  But too bad.  :D  I just had to put it here anyway.

I'm very excited.  We just purchased tickets for next year to see one of my favorite people/groups ever, Chris Thile and the Punch Brothers.

I guess I'm just a fan girl.  :D

Mia has been doing her best to be cute recently.

In this picture, she had just heard me feed her.  She's been sleeping under that cover there all week.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week -- and for those in the US, I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!  (Yes, the kids are coming home for Thanksgiving!  Yay!)

Oh Margaret…that sampler is stunning…the colors. How much fun is that? And isn't stitching on the 52 ct. linen amazing? I was so surprised at how easy it was to see the holes. Maybe because it's an uneven weave fabric….I don't know, but I sure like it !!

Your daughter is adorable and a beautiful young lady. I know you are proud and you should be. I'm glad your family will all be together for Thanksgiving. Have a simply fabulous holiday -- stitching week. And warmest hugs to sweet Mia !!

How many colors are there on that first one?! My goodness. But it does look very nice:) My eyes wants to cross themselves when I see the linen:) How do you do it?

Mia is very cute. She does know how to keep warm, that is for sure. I am glad you have her for company.

A new start, what fun! I was wondering how that linen would be to work with. Glad you like it. I'm glad the nest will be full this holiday. Enjoy!

I can't wait to start on the crown sampler. I am working on two different ones right now and it is slow going because of hand cramps! Have a great Thanksgiving!

The colors in that sampler are just stunning! 52 count fabric?!???! Brave, brave woman!!! And I thought I was so cool for stitching on 40 count. LOL.

Oh my those are tiny stitches. I never heard of 52/64 but just saw Laurie's post of her piece. Anxious to see this finished! What a lovely photo. Mia's too of course.

Your sampler is looking more and more beautiful.

I can't imagine stitching on such tiny count fabric. Do you use a magnifier?

What a glamour shot of your daughter!

Not sure stitching on that count linen is in my future yours is lovely. Daughter is beautiful Mia entertaining. Enjoy the holiday

Your samplers are beautiful! I especially love the design and colors on the smaller count one. But, even with magnifiers I don't think I could see that one!!

I am glad the kids will be home for Thanksgiving. Ours will too. It makes it so much more special when everyone can be together.

Margaret -- Beautiful stitching -- I always LOVE what you are working on. Kudos to you for being able to do the 52ct Linen. I tried with the Linen and Tudor Silks for the Mary Hart sampler but just wasn't able to do it:(. I will have to stick to 40ct

Hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving! So glad your kids are going to be home!

Wow, I love the crown sampler and that linen looks wonderful. I must try that. Are those 4.0 glasses you have on the linen? If so, where did you get those? I always were magnifying glasses when stitching on smaller count fabric.

Margaret, I just had to laugh about switching projects. I don't know but I think this happens at this time of year to me too!

I love the new sampler you have started, and that linen! Oh I wish! I can't even see 40 count. Anyway, I will enjoy seeing your progress.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving with your family!

Happy Thanksgiving Margaret!! So glad everyone will be home with you. Your stitching is gorgeous!! I need to get some of that linen from the Attic. And your knitting...I am jealous...And, of course, cute Mia -- all snuggly and warm!

I love your blog. Your work is magnificent! I'd love to see a post devoted to how you work. Do you use a frame? A floor stand? What sort of light, of magnifier? What are your favorite brands of equipment and supplies? Of needles? Of thread brands? I'd (we'd!) be so grateful if you would share some of your working secrets with us.

You've made some great choices Margaret! New projects are soooo hard to resist. Wishing all of you a lovely Thanksgiving!

wow - I will enjoy seeing the "crown" sampler come to life. EF is looking pretty also. Funny you mentioned the KSH - I started the Icicle Scarf out of Kid Silk Glamour on Fri night. It's a yummy fiber for sure - hopefully the lace weight won't affect your shoulder. Lovely photo of DD. Hope your T-giving is the best year ever! Mel

EF 1864 is so pretty, Margaret ... love it! Isn't the 50ct. fun?! I lost interest in a sampler I was stitching some time ago on 50ct. but loved how intricate the design was on the higher count. I need to find something else to stitch on that linen.
Beautiful photo of your lovely daughter. Enjoy having your kids home for Thanksgiving!

Hi, Margaret,
Your daughter is so lovely! That is really a glamour shot that could be on the cover of a magazine. When I put a photo of Evan on my blog the other day, he was slightly upset with me, he likes everything to be private ...Oh, well. 52/64 linen, wow! I could never see that and there is something weird about my eyes that those magnifiers don't work, don't know why, but I had optic neuritis and have glaucoma. I started Ann Thompson last night on 35 count, and that is an effort to see. As usual, Mia is so cute under her quilt.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Melinda

Margaret, the EF sampler is stunning! Such vibrant colours. I have not tried the higher count linen but your post is encouraging...
Love the colours in your knitting. Beautiful pic of your daughter and Mia :) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I thought you laid your readers there because you had to pull them out to stitch on the 50 count! I've not seen this yet but a guild friend is bringing it to show at our Christmas party in a couple of weeks.

Love the red hair on your daughter!

Melanie said...

Off topic: God I want her hair color. That's what I go for but it always end up much darker or too carroty. Hers is perfection. *sigh*
(If you tell me that is natural I will fall into a deep depression right on the spot. lol)
Honestly, I don't think I could see that even with my readers. Holy moly that thread count! Maybe in full sunlight, in the morning before my eyes are tired? lol

Great new start, Margaret! But 52/64 count? ouch! I have yet to try 40ct, lol!
The new knitting looks so soft and fun. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Margaret! Enjoy having the whole family home.

Oh, such beautiful tiny stitches on that new linen, Margaret!! I love it... What does the 52/64 mean? I understand the 52 ct., but what is the 64 number? (Sorry if I'm being dumb!!).

Your daughter is so pretty--love her hair :)

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with your family!

Beth said...

Happy Thanksgiving. Such a pretty daughter you have. Oh that is very interesting linen on your newest stitch. I think it is interesting to have the warp and weft with different counts. EF I'm loving it more and more.

Brigitte said...

Oh yes, I can understand that you had to have this new start. If I had this linen that so many stitchers talk about at the moment I'd have to start a new project immediately as well, lol. Somehow I can't imagine stitching on 52 ct, my highest count is 40. Your sampler looks gorgeous on it.
Have a great Thanksgiving with your family!

Great post, Margaret. Wow the colours in that sampler really pop, don't they? That is the one from the SANQ 2011 issue, isn't it? How can you see the holes in such a fine count linen? You are amazing! Do you stitch with one strand or two?

Always good to see what you're up to, Margaret!

Great start on the Crown sampler, both it and EF are looking lovely. I like the look of the wrap I shall have to look it up on Ravelry.
