Back to Stitching, but....

There was the big last tournament of the tennis season to watch this past week, so I was back to stitching.  I started a new piece.

Lady in Red Spinning Her Wool by GigiR Designs
GAST fibers
This is what the whole piece looks like.

I am, however having problems.  The GAST dye lots seem to have changed drastically since the model was stitched.  It might be time to take a pause on this one, sadly.

ETA:  Thank you, Gigi, for commenting on my blog!  I just wanted to say that I know it's not Gigi's fault about the dye lots.  I love this design so hopefully I will figure out a conversion that I like and continue on at a later time.  I'm just easily discouraged at the moment.  My Lady in Red won't disappear forever!

The Father Type and I have both been doing some cooking recently (not that I don't usually cook!), trying new dishes out.  I cooked this one.

Marrakesh Veggie Curry
And the father type cooked this soup.

Homemade butternut squash soup with grilled cheese & bacon sandwich
And the Father Type once again made some luscious Pecan Sandies -- so good!

Mia has been doing her best to keep warm now that the temperatures are colder.  She's been snuggling up to me a whole lot more.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Love that sampler. Hope you can work out the colors. I hate it when the colors suggested just don't look like the model at all.

Yummy food photos. And so snuggly with Mia. I think winter is coming.

Margaret, I love your start on Lady in Red! It's at the top of my list. Not good about the dye lots! Does it have a legend for silks?

How nice that your husband is such a good cook and likes to try new recipes! They all look really good!

Glad Mia is staying warm!

Lady in Red … I LOVE. She's on my list but I'll have Jean at the Attic send me her silk conversion. I too have had some cotton overdyes change drastically…and some where two different names are virtually the same color !! YIKES. Hope you can figure it out and continue with the piece.

Hugs to you and sweet Mia. And keep that DH of yours cooking !!

Thread colours can be an absolute pain at times - changing colour can cause all sorts of problems with the overall balance of a piece. Good afternoon to Miss Mia, gorgeous as always.

I love your sampler! It is a beautiful start. As for different dye lot colors I think it is more creative photography. I seem to run into major color differences from photo to actual stitching. Don't be discouraged, it is stunning.

That is a lovely stitchy piece and I hope the colors work out for you after all. Your cooking looks wonderful as well. As for Mia, she is adorable as always. Sylvia Joy has been more of a cuddle bug too but she is not a lap kitty at all.

Awww, Mia is looking very sweet and cozy there!

Love your new start. We do have similar tastes as I ordered this chart a couple of weeks ago!

I am trying out new recipes too, some with success some not! That curry looks yummy!

Ooh those Pecan Sandies look good. Those were my grandfather's favorite!

Even though you're not loving the threads, what you've stitched on Lady in Red looks really pretty. And those pecan sandies had me when you posted them on Instagram. Those are one of my favorites - unfortunately no one else likes them! :o)

I am very sorry about the color problem It is definetely not my fault because the model was stitched with those mentioned but I think maybe that dye lots are different from one dye lot to another
Now that Crescent colors has changed owners I might consider using those Otherwise I do not know what to do Gigi

Love your start! If I like the cover photo, I will choose colors to match that rather than the called for colors.
Tell Mia to snuggle up ~ it's gonna be cold the next few days!

I find the dye lots in all the over-dyed floss isn't consistent.its becoming a problem. I agree with Catherine. I tend to go by the cover photo. Mia is such a cutie.

That is a beautiful sampler and I totally understand your frustration with the colors! Lots of good food you guys have going on there but pecan sandies, oh my! Yummmm!

Glad to see all your knitting pretties in last weeks post and your modeling your gorgeous finish! YEAH YGG - too bad about your lady in red sampler, threads can vary so vastly - it is somewhat disappointing at times. Hope you have a great week ! Mel

Oh my, what a wonderful new design you started here. I hope you can find the perfect colours for it, particularly that rich red of the lady's dress. I'm curious to see what you will come up with.

Yum, I love curry. Just did a curried butternut soup that was good. You must finish that beautiful piece, it's great.

Mia has the right idea - stay warm!

Oh, I sure wish I could convince my husband to cook, Margaret... Your food looks so good. And the sampler is lovely. Hope you can figure out the floss problem...

I sure wish I had a sweet kitty like Mia to cuddle with on a day like today (snow here!)!

The Lady in Red Spinning chart is beautiful, what a great start! I've added it to my list. I hope you've had time to figure out your colors!:)

Beautiful new start Margaret!! I love how wee it looks. I'm with you on the drastic changes of GAST. I often use the DMC then change it out with overdyed threads that are similar to the DMC rather than follow the colours charted. I find I like that way better. All that cooking looks amazing and is making me very hungry! LOL! Mia is a sweetie and looks so cuddly!

Melanie said...

That's too bad about the dye lots. I've been collecting hand dyes for so long I run into the other problem too, with the stuff I have not matching NEW patterns, because my floss was purchased 10 years ago or whatever. You'll figure it out eventually. (Or maybe you already have. I'm TERRIBLY behind on blog reading/commenting....obviously. :))
