TUSAL

I'm doing a late TUSAL post.  In case you're wondering, TUSAL stands for Totally Useless Stitch Along.  And it's fun and easy.  Feel free to join in -- details are here on Daffycat's blog.

I decided to do things differently this year.  I'm using an egg cup from my Nicholas Mosse collection to hold my ORTs for each month, and I'll empty them into my big ORT jar after each TUSAL post.

I like my egg cup.

Here's my emptied ORT jar alongside the ORTs from 2012.  I've been putting the ORTs for each year in a glass  ball ornament and writing the year on each.

Oh, and if you're wondering about that fabric pack behind my ORTs, here it is again.  It's a fabric kit from Temecula Quilt Company of Jo Morton fabrics to make these quilts.  I hope I actually make them.

If you're wondering why I'm not showing any stitching, there's a very good reason.  I'm finally back to model stitching.  It's a very large reproduction sampler that Needlework Press will be releasing at Nashville.  So I am doing my best to get it done in time.  Had a long wait for the rest of the chart but I'm finally happily stitching away.  Sorry, I can't show it off.  I will show it when it is released at market.  I bet you'll like it!  I love it!

My two babies have been happy together.

The boy child will be going back to college this coming weekend.  I'm dreading the empty nest again.  Poor Mia won't like it either.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  It's Australian Open time again!  Yay!  I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

The Mosse egg cup is lovely... such a pretty container for your orts. I do like the fabric you got and the little quilts are great.
Enjoy the rest of the week with your boy child and the Australian Open.

What a great way to enjoy your lovely egg cup every day! I've been using those ornaments for several years as ort containers - soon they can have a tree of their own :-). Have fun with the bc for the rest of the week. The empty nest will be a tiny bit easier this time for you and Mia, too. She will know that he'll be back. Hugs!

I had not realized how big Mia has gotten! She is not a kitten anymore. Looking forward to seeing the model, and good luck with the little quilts:)

Took my 3rd kid back to college yesterday, and even though I still have 1 at home she is the quiet one. I miss my 3rd already, he is the boisterous artsy conversationalist! Can't wait to see your model!!!

The egg cup is so much prettier but I do like your idea of using the glass ornament. I look forward to seeing your model when it's finished - I love being kept in suspense. Mia and your son make me smile every time I see them together - they remind me of Poppy and my son who have a similar relationship.

What a great idea of putting your orts into an ornament and putting the year on it!! I have a few of those ornaments that I put golden straw into, but never thought of putting the ORTs in them. Of course the way I'm going it would take me two years to fill one of them.

Enjoy your time remaining with Eli and I'll look forward to seeing your little quilts! :o)

Good luck on the model. I'm sure you'll speed right through it. I'm glad you are having fun. Enjoy the time with boy child this week. Hugs

Great little ort cup Margaret. And I love that you put your orts in a glass ornie. Maybe I should do that. Right now, I just have my old orts in baggies on the coffee table waiting for me to finish an ornie and use it for stuffing. Those orts may be sitting on the table for a while! Can't wait to see the model stitching reveal at market.

I love those fabric collections. I got two packages of Civil War repros for Christmas.
Needless to say, I was very happy with them.
I used to make huge King size quilts, but I think my next one will be a lap-size. Of course I have 2 King size WIPS that I should finish first LOL! The list goes on and on!

Your model stitching is going to be amazing and if you like I know I will too.

Mia looks so content. You will all miss the boy child when he goes back. Such a shame that our babies have to grow up and leave the nest.

Have a great week Margaret.

Hi Margaret, how's the tennis going. Heard that Leyton was bundled out.

Love your ort container. I don't have any Mosse pieces, but l do have some Emma Bridgewater.

I have about 3 years worth of Orts, would you believe they stuffed 2 large strawberries l made at Christmas time. They make good stuffing.

Looking forward to see what you are working on - sandra

Knowing you, you'll have your model sampler stitched in record time, Margaret, and will soon be back to stitching for yourself :)

Glad Mia has enjoyed your son's homecoming--hope she can handle it when he leaves again. I remember our cat walked around for days after "his human" (my middle son) left for college :)

How lovely to use such a pretty egg cup for your threads.

Mia looks very happy with her Boy at home. She will certainly miss him when he returns to school.

I know all too well, just how it feels when the nest empties out after holidays at home. My thoughts will be with you.

Blessings!

Love your Temecula Quilt Bundle - a few 'littles' in your future? a few samplers in mine.
Not much worse than the end of college break, than when they get jobs and have even less time...
Thanks for sharing all your projects, and I look forward to the reveal.

Hope things go well with your son's return to school - for all of you! I will be thinking of you, Margaret.

Can't wait to see your model stitching.

Love your little egg cup you are using! What a great way to display your yearly orts! In an ornament ball! Oooh, those quilt fabrics are wonderful! I hope to try my hand at quilting this year too...I might need to take a course though since I'm a bit chicken to do it on my own! Aww, love the photos of your boychild and Mia. Just think that spring break is around the corner and you will have him back again with you! Hugs!!

I like your idea for putting the threads into a glass ball ornament, I just might do that with mine.

As a quilter I enjoyed the fabric bundle. I actually made the star quilt like the one pictured on the far right...It's easy, you shouldn't have any problem.
