Blog? What's a blog?

The title of this post is just to show about how I'm feeling right now -- rather discombobulated.  lol!  It's been busy busy busy around here!  I have been stitching here and there though, so I will show what I've been working on first.  Remember this piece?

It's And They Sinned, of course.  Here's the part I've been working on recently.

I'm so happy to be getting to the fun parts of this one!

So there's been a lot of activity around here with the kids.  The girl child is apartment hunting, the 21st century way, online.  So far, no luck.  Bummer.

The boy child -- well, we headed off to Boston this past weekend.  Stayed with my sister and her family -- they live close by Boston, which is a real boon for us.  Friday was the placement tests at the boy child's future music college, which is in the heart of Boston.  A very exciting day, full of tests and auditions for the boy child, and talks for the parents for the father type and I.  Here is the father type waiting with me for the boy child.

Saturday was a busy day.  We headed into Boston with my sister and her family for dim sum (yum!!!), and even managed to do a bit of grocery shopping at the Chinese grocery (I'd been neglecting that at home).  Then it was off to do some apartment hunting for the boy child.  We lucked out and found a really nice apartment for him very close to what one would call the college's campus (the college has buildings scattered throughout one area of Boston).  The boy child loves it, and he's very excited about starting out at his music college in the fall.  Here is the door to his apartment building.

So exciting!  And very scary for his mom.  lol!

Sunday was Father's Day, of course.  (Happy Father's Day, daddy and father type!)  We drove home, but did manage a nice stop at a Cracker Barrel on the way home for lunch.  The boys played a couple of games of checkers while we waited for a table.

And then we were home after a long drive.  Yay!  We were very happy to have things even more settled for the boy child's start at college.  Furniture shopping and stocking the apartment will be in the future.  Ugh.

Mia was resigned to being alone with the girl child at home this past weekend.  Mia has a thing against the girl child, sadly.  But it sounds like they basically avoided each other most of the time, so that's good.  Here is Mia before we left.  Such a life of luxury.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!  (If you're wondering what that is on Mia's back, it's a Reese's miniature pb cup wrapper -- the boy child put it there, of course.  lol!)

ps.  Happy 70th birthday to Sir Paul McCartney!

Hi Margaret! Oh I loved ATS. You are really coming along. I need to start that one someday, so I can have a chance at finishing it in my lifetime!
I'm so glad you got your son's apartment figured out, and that things are going in the right direction for him. Scary indeed! I don't want to think about that day, but I know it's coming soon. :)
Hope you are enjoying your summer, and that you can get a lot of stitching done this week!
Hugs.

Hi Margaret, ATS is just so beautiful. I am tempted...but have so many projects started and so many lined up AND I have recently become obsessed with knitting again. Tons of those projects going on as well. The BC's apt entry looks great...much different than my son's first apt which we dubbed "the tenement apt" - really a basement LOL. Hope the GC can find a place soon. Mia is just so cute!! Vera

Glad to hear your boy found a nice apartment. One down, Margaret!

Your sampler is looking lovely. It's always nice to get to the fun parts!

When your boy moves out later, make a check through his luggage - there may be a white furry bundle hiding there! lol.

Hi Margaret! I think I know how you feel ... my head has been spinning for a month with the girl's activities ... all good, just busy, busy, busy! So glad you can cross one apartment off your "to do" list! Your son's apt. building looks charming (hope he doesn't mind that description!).
Too soon the sound of silence will be deafening in our houses!

Wow -- even when you're distracted, busy, galavanting, and not stitching much, you still produce the most amazing stitching. Tell you what -- I'll forward all my stash to you -- you just let me know when it's done. :)

Congrats on a very successful Boston adventure.

Nice to see ATS again! Sounds like you've been busy and I can totally relate to the discombobulation!!!! Great news that you've got somewhere sorted out for your son to live. My three have all done the online thing when searching for somewhere to live and so far it's always worked out fine for them so hope your daughter finds somewhere soon.

ATS is wonderful! I admire you gals for taking that one on. So many exciting things happening right - I think Boston is a fantastic city and I haven't been back there in a while. My mom loves this tiny Italian restaurant in the North End area that is a small family place. She says they have this lobster-pumpkin ravioli that's to die for. Of course I can't remember the name! Look forward to seeing more of ATS.

Some beautiful progress on ATS, Margaret. You are certainly a "masterpiece" needle artist! Your gorgeous pieces should go in the Smithsonian Museum of Art someday:)

It is a bittersweet experience getting one's first child ready for college, isn't it? He will love Boston though. We love that city...so much history there and so much to explore. Glad that you all had a great time there!

Blessings!

Beautiful stitching! You have been on a bit of a whirlwind tour haven't you? The entrance of your son's apartment is lovely!

valerie said...

OMG, your week sounds as scattered and busy as mine was. I am mentally all over the place and haven't stitched in days! Your ATS is really coming along. And the apartment entryway is awesome! I love old buildings like that. Too funny that we both went for dimsum...so yummy! Just try to roll with the flow. I know it must be hard...both kids on their own. Exciting but nervewracking all at the same time!

Looks like you'll be plowing through all that grass on ATS soon enough!

It's all a bit scary when the fledglings leave the nest, but scary in a good way. Congratulate youself on a job well done!

What a great city to be able to go to college in. This is my birth home - a great place to live. What school is he going to?? Glad you found an apt - it could get tough as the summer continues.

Love ATS - this also is a design I would love to do - still haven't bought the chart yet!!! Need to reduce the stash a bit!!

Now is Mia going to college????

Your ATS is looking great Margaret. Almost makes me want to start another one! Seriously, I loved working on that piece.

I'm glad that things are slowing moving along with the kids. I know that this has got to be just the busiest time (and the most worrisome). But everything will work out fine. Just watch!
