Yes, we are proud

I'm late posting this week, but I have a good reason.  I'll tell you about it after I show you my finish.

Ann Pennsylvania Peacock by Little by Little
35 ct fabric (not sure what it is)
fibers called for

Yes, it's finished.  I have to put the face on, which is printed on paper.  Haven't done that yet.  I love this sampler.

Ok, if all you wanted to see was stitching, you can skip the many many pictures ahead.  :D

So why am I posting on a Wednesday instead of on Monday?  Well, the girl child's graduation was on Tuesday, with festivities happening Monday as well.  (Sorry, Diamond Jubilee.  Missed seeing most of the Queen's celebrations, sadly.)  So I am going to post tons of pictures with as little text as possible.

You now get to find out how bad I am at editing myself.  I hope Blogger cooperates with all these pictures.  lol!

Monday was Class Day, with a famous speaker involved.  See if you can recognize him.  (Yes, it rained for a big part of the event, so even though the event was outside, we wimped out and opted for the indoor simulcast.  I know, what wimps.)

I'll give you a hint on who this is.  Steve Carrell.  :D  What a great speaker!  And we found out afterwards by googling that he graduated college the year after me!!

Eating lunch after the Class Day event.  My father and stepmother came out for graduation too.  (It had stopped raining by then.  See all the orange rain ponchos they handed out to the brave ones who sat outside?)

Graduation Day in front of Nassau Hall.

Another famous face.  Aretha Franklin got an honorary Doctorate of Music.

Love these pics of the kids after the ceremony.  They're waiting to march out Fitz Randolph Gate (a very symbolic moment, representing their leaving Princeton as graduates), and a graduate has started a beach ball going over the kids' heads.

Pics of the graduate with family and friends.

The girl child with her boyfriend.

Two graduates with their brothers.

The diploma and certificate.  (The certificate is to acknowledge a minor.)

Shades of Rafa?  (A tennis reference, it's French Open time.)

The girl child sad to leave her eating club.

And yes, we are very proud of our girl.

Mia was very lonely without us around.  Her routine was interrupted, and she wasn't pleased.  But here she is before we left for graduation with her boy.  Yes, that's the boy child's bed.  They tend to sleep together.

A boy, his bass guitar, and his cat.  Plus various items that are kept on his bed.  Ahem.

Sorry for the long blog post.  The boy child's graduation comes in a few weeks!!  The girl child is driving home today with the last of her stuff from college.  Time to find a couple of apartments, one for each child.  Yikes!

Thanks for all your wishes for my recovery from the surgery.  I'm almost back to normal, survived the graduation and all the packing I did of the girl child's things.  Although I am tired.  lol!  The test results were all good, so all I have to do is heal up.  Yay!

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

(Graduate class of *62, class of '81, class of '83, and now class of '12.  Yay!)

Margaret -- Ann Peacock looks beautiful (even without her face yet LOL)

Thanks for sharing such wonderful pictures of your daughter's graduation! Great times and wonderful memories. Good luck to her as she begins her new adventures.

Glad your tests came back all good!

Love your sampler, but before I read the text, I wondered what kind of person designed a sampler with a headless woman! ;-) But now I'm really curious to see how you add the face.

Looks like one fabulous graduation to remember. What a cool speaker, and Aretha in attendance to boot!

Hi Margaret, First of all, great news on your test results. So good! Ann Peacock is gorgeous even headless...reminds me of Marly's armless boat people LOL. I'm interested to see how it looks with the face attached. And, last but not least, congrats to the Girl Child. Seeing all those pics was great...especially since our son didn't want to bother with the entire "ceremony" thing and skipped it! Big steps ahead for both her and the Boy Child. Vera

First of all, your Ann Peacock is beautiful. I can't wait to see it with the paper face attached. This must have been a great sampler to work on...but then, aren't they all?

Love all the pics of your family on Graduation Day. I know you are very, very proud and you should be. This is a wonderful accomplishment. Congratulations.

Love the pics of the BC and Mia. Way too cute!!

It's quite startling to see Ann without a head! LOL Luckily I knew that it was a paper head or I'd have to wonder about you! She is great though.

Congratulations to your daughter! It looks it was a wonderful graduation and a great time. How fun to have Steve as a speaker. You have impressions of him from the office and I would't have thought of him as a great speaker. And cool on Aretha too.

Hope you're 100% soon!

Big congrats on your daughter's graduation - how exciting. She is gorgeous in all the photos as usual. LOL at the way your son sleeps - he obviously does not move around a whole lot while sleeping?

The Pennsylvania Peacock sampler is one of may favorites too - there are just too many to stitch, don't you think? I have the chart waiting at home. For another time....

Take care!

I do wish you a speedy recovery soon. I'm sorry I must have missed your last post and didn't know you had surgery. I really hope you are recovering quickly and that it was not serious. Isn't surgery always serious?...At any rate, I hope you are back to your happy stitching self soon.
Hugs to you!

Hi Margaret, congratulations on finishing the beautiful Ann Peacock. This is such an interesting sampler. I love the fact that the head is a photo and is attached. Shall look forward to seeing it finished. Always wondered what you use to attach the photo.

I am so glad that you got a clean bill of health. That is really good.

Your photos of your daughter's graduation look wonderful. I am sure that both you and the husband type are very proud of her.

I have been in Royalty heaven over the last few days. Simply wonderful. The Poms do these sorts of celebrations so well. Favourite site was when the Queen and the family were coming down The Mall in the carriages surrounded by The Blues and Royals. Made me want to pack my bags lol - Sandra.

The Peacock sampler is lovely, how do attach that face? Congratulations to girl child and and her proud mom and dad! Glad everything came back well and okay. Happy Stitching.

Congratulations to your daughter!!! I got to see some of the photos on FB, too. I know you are so proud! :) Your dad looks so pleased, too.

I laughed at the photos of your son, Mia, and all the stuff on his bed. Mairead sleeps with so much stuff on her bed--books, a typewriter (!), crochet stuff, etc. I don't know how she hasn't suffocated under it all. LOL I think she allows herself a tiny space up against the wall, and the rest of the queen sized bed is for her stuff.

Beautiful stitching! Congrats on the APP finish!

I'm not familiar with this sampler so the paper head is very intriguing to me. I'm not going to look it up online but instead wait for your photos. :)

Laughing at myself!! I readthatnyou and a finish and then thought, that's funny, the poor girl has no head! As I was reading on, I remembered about the face and then you confirmed that!
Many congratulations to your daughter!! Great shots from graduation. I can imagine how proud you are ~ and good luck to her in her future endeavors!

Glad to hear you are feeling better and there are no problems.

The boychild's bed is hilarious! How can he sleep with all that stuff there? Mia sure seems to like it though!!
