Oh cripes -- and an award

Here is SDW so far.

It's getting so long!  Believe it or not, I'm only a bit over halfway done.

Isn't the chapel pretty? I love the trees that surround it.

The whole character of the design is going to change from this point on.  You can tell by what I'm stitching now.  The letters are quite enjoyable though.

Now for the title of this post.  The boy child is going to be a senior in high school this year.  So yes, it's that time.  Time for the college crunch.  And somehow that stress is just starting to dawn on all of us.  Cripes.  Ugh.  Bleagh.  'Nuff said.

Here's the boy child doing one of his favorite things with Mia.  Just one of the ways he tortures her.  lol!

Mia's only compensation for this unladylike position is that it usually happens when dinner is done.  So she gets to sniff at the boy child's plate and lick it if she likes.

It's the girl child's last week of work at her internship.  She'll be coming home on Sunday and be home for a month -- except for a week of vacation planned with her friends -- until college starts again.  Sounds like she has really enjoyed her job this summer, which is good.

Finally, I received an award from Mouse at Tales of a Stitching Mouse.

It's the stylish blogger award.  These are the rules.  Thank the person who gave it to you -- thank you, Mouse!!  :D   Name 7 things about yourself.  And give the award to 15 other stylish bloggers.  Well, here comes the hardest part.  The 7 things.  Hmmm.

1. I'm good at remembering numbers.  Don't ask me why, I just seem to retain numbers well.  For example, I still remember my high school locker combination.  And I think I remember my junior high school one too.

2. I love dolls and teddy bears/stuffed animals.  I think you might have guessed that one from my pincushion collection.

3. I'm a pack rat.  And unfortunately, so is the father type.  lol!

4. I've lived in 5 states: Oklahoma, Kansas, California, New Jersey, and now New York.

5. I love tech gadgets.  ie iPad, ebooks, -- hey I even get excited when a new handheld gaming system comes out.  I don't get excited for me on the gaming systems though, just for the boy child.  :D

6. I hate to make phone calls.  If I can get away with not doing them, that's a good thing.  Email all the way!

7. I want an iPhone.  (See no. 5)  But I can't justify getting one.  Do I need one?  No.  And it costs more for the plan than my current simple cell phone.  So why get one?  But still, I'm waiting to see if the iPhone 5 comes out.  Just to dream.

I'm afraid I'm chickening out on the giving the award to other bloggers.  I enjoy so many blogs and love talking (virtually) to so many other stitchers/quilters that it's impossible for me to name just some of them.  So consider yourself awarded if you're a blogger.  :D

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi!  I hope everyone has a great week.

The piece is looking great. Do you have a place in mind to display it when it's done? I imagine your home is covered in samplers by now!

Congrats on your award! Your SDW is beautiful! The boy child and Mia are cute together. He'll miss her next year when he goes off to college. Amy goes back in a week and 3 days and to be honest...it's time. Enjoy this last year, as you know it will fly by!

I can't believe how much you've gotten done on your sampler! It's really beautiful.....and long! :o)

Just wait.....there is much more fun in store with the college thing (as you well know). Nick is going in two weeks and if we're not running around getting things for the dorm, I'm laying on the couch almost in a dead faint as to how much everything is costing me. LOL

Only half way? I looked at it and thought...almost finished. LOL. And then I looked the complete design up.
It's looking gorgeous. And you're right. That is a darling chapel.
What a gorgeous picture of your son with Mia. They adore each other don't they?
And I can understand fully your cripes. :(
When reading your list I had a giggle at the iphone. I can give you a couple of good reasons for it though. I use my iphone for almost everything, and also as phone. It's my calendar (linked to the calendars of other family members to keep me updated) , shoppinglist, bookreader, emails on the go, gps for hiking, a street navigator with voice, and so much more. Oh, and I use it also as phone every now and then.

I'm good with remembering numbers too - DH always laughs when I type the CC number without getting the card out ;) and hate phone calls - definitely email if I can get away with it!

Hi Margaret. I couldn't believe it when you said half-way so I looked up the design again. Holy crap. To stick with a project this large and not take a break speaks of your stitching fortitude!! Can't wait to see this displayed in its monster frame.

Your sampler is a beauty!! Its is coming along at an amazing pace. Love the colors in this one.

Poor Mia - ours get a wee bit manhandled by the kids as well, but she just relaxes and is a really good sport about it.

Congrats on your award.

Your sampler is just getting more and more beautiful by the post. I can't believe that this is the mid-point - this will be one tall, cool drink, LOL.
Looks like your DS is pretending that Mia is "keyboard cat"... have you visited that web-site? It is totally rediculous and silly, but also pretty funny.
Congratulations on your Stylish Blogger award, well done! :-)

Love the chapel!!!!!! That is an amazing project!!!

I have an Iphone and I did not think I could justify it; but I have had it for over 2 years and now I cannot function without it. If you get a windfall; get one!

Have a good week!

With you on 3, 5 and 6. No 1.. not so much. I still have a hard time remembering mom's phone number, the same for the last 20 years... Love the sampler. How long is it going to be? So much work, and so beautifully done.

Amazing how cats look dignified whatever we put them through:)

Half done? Oh wow. It's lovely, but half.... oh my.

Good luck on the college picking and applying experience! I might suggest spa treatements or gin as a way through the upcoming months ;-)

I can never get over your fast stitching! This piece is really taking shape, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next section!

I am with you on the gadget excitement and phone thing. I only know one person who doesn't have a super-phone, but we still don't. Isn't 120$ enough for 2 phones already!? Sheesh. But Marc might need one for his new job and if he crosses over I probably will too...

I can't believe how fast these kids grow - mine will be 18 next week and a freshman in college...

Wow it's going to be huge and it is absolutely stunning already!

SDW is beautiful! I had no idea it was so large.

I have fond memories of the senior year for each of my children, but not so much of the college application process. I loved visiting the campuses (20 in all) and comparing their merits, but getting the applications out and waiting for the admissions decisions was stressful. Fortunately, each of my three children was happy with their final choice. Our middle child will be a senior in college this year. The time goes so quickly!
