And they sinned in Richmond (not really)

Last week, I started a Monday SAL with Kwilty Kim of Threadheads Unite and Mark Lipinski's ATS SAL group.  I decided to stick to just Mondays, although that may bleed a bit into Sundays depending on my mood and the state of my Richmond Sampler.  Here is what I accomplished last Monday on ATS.

I've wanted to stitch this piece forever, so I figured this was my opportunity to get going.  Of course, there have been other SALs as well -- not sure why I picked this time to start, but there you go!  I'm using the called for GAST fibers and 40ct Pearled Barley.

The Richmond Sampler has been going as well.  The straight/zig zag border is all finished -- queen stitches and all -- but I won't bother showing you all of its glory.  I'll just show the interesting parts.

(Got the last picture right before the Mia came attacking. ) I'm enjoying this piece, although I am getting tired of the baskets and flowers.  I could attack the over one verse, of course.  I guess I should do that.  Ugh.

Mia is growing all the time.  I still remember when she couldn't look out the front door.  Now she can and does most every time the boy child heads off to the bus stop.  Here's what she looks like in action.  You can see the boy child's hand in the first picture, although it's hard to tell.

She was looking out the door at the boy child again this morning.  Looking at these pictures, I think she's grown a tad more since last week!

Mia has been getting into lots of trouble the past couple of days.  All of a sudden she's been getting into places she's never explored before.  Yesterday she dumped a glass of water all over my bed.  She later dumped the empty glass on the floor again.  Amazingly the glass wasn't broken.  I need to find my reusable water bottles and start using them.

This morning she kept insisting on climbing into the lampshade of the livingroom lamp -- a lamp that cannot be replaced and is very breakable.  Argh!!!  I took her out of it three times.  The third time I gave up and shut her up in the back part of the house for a while, where her litter box and food are.  (It's lucky that our house has a door between parts of the house like that!)  She eventually started meowing to come to where we were, then I heard a crash.  Sigh.

When I went to investigate, I found that Mia had managed to overturn the laundry basket on herself.  She's done this once before.  The last time she did it, she was so small she couldn't move the basket or get out from under it.  This time she was walking around, pushing the laundry basket (still overturned) with her nose so that she could walk around.  Silly kitten!  I think she liked doing it until she discovered she couldn't get to her food from inside the basket.  lol!  I took the basket away then.  We've been at a truce ever since.  I think she knew she'd been in trouble and should be good.  Such a mischief maker!

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi!  I so enjoy our visits!  Have a great week!

Look forward to seeing your new SAL a little bit more :))

The Richmond is wonderful, you never bore me Margaret LOL.

LOL! I love hearing about Mia (and seeing your great pics - she really is growing fast!) and her escapades ;) She sounds like Maisie - a complette pickle! I caught madam trying to push a glass off the computer desk yesterday - fortunately I got to it in time - and she gets into all kinds of places she shouldn't. Guess Maisie and Mia would get on quite well!

Love your WIPs - the Richmond Sampler is beautiful and I'm looking forward to your progress on ATS.

I just love, love, love your Richmond Sampler....all those queen stitches....WOW. I am in awe of your work! And that Mia...what a stinker!! She is way too cute! Have a great week Margaret! Hugs

Sorry about the typo - that should, of course, have been complete, not complette ;)

Your Richmond Sampler is beautifu! And so is your beginning on ATS.

Mia has grown and it sounds like she may be in her terrible twos, which I never thought were terrible, just interesting and active!

You progress looks great, Margaret :) You make me crave LARGE projects :) BUT not until I hit my goal for Relay for life :)
Have a lovely week friend :)

Mia is just too cute - kittens really are such curious little things. Smokie spent last nite batting around a balled up piece of paper - with hardwood floors, it would slide far away and she would run and pounce on it. She much prefers the piece of paper to all the toys I have purchased for her.

Love, love the Richmond Sampler - definitely on my 'must have' list - what fun to join in the ATS SAL - great start.

Enjoy your week, Margaret.

Mia is so cute!!! Sounds like she'll be keeping you on your toes! I love your ATS start. I just picked mine up to work on today, but you know what, I really cannot stand the light yellowy-cream linen I'm stitching on. I'm not going any further. I'm going to order some new linen. It's too big to be stuck with something I don't like the looks of!! Your Richmond Sampler is stunning!

Beautiful stitching. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but those are labors of love!

Great going on both samplers - look forward to seeing more of ATS. It's huge fun to read about Mia's antics :-)

Oh Margaret...crashes and cats...I hear them lots here too! LOL! My Red, won't keep a collar on for love or money, he bites the thing off and whilst doing it will knock into and over anything in his way to bite that thing off! LOL!
I love your Richmond Sampler and now between seeing your ATS and seeing Siobhan's framed one last week...well I'm cross eyed wanting to stitch it! LOL!

LOL at the title!

Your stitching is such a joy to look at! And your kitty is SOoooooo cute!

Lovely stitching! I love the closeups so we can really get a good look!

Oh my! Sounds like Mia is one curious cat! We've been petless for a while now, save for two fish, but my middle boy is really wanting a kitten for Christmas....if only Daddy gives in....

Mia is so cute! She sure loves Boy Child looking out the door as she does. It kind of reminds me of a puppy.

Your Richmond Sampler looks "wow"! I haven't done queen stitches. I've finally done more than just one smyrna and eyelet. I like them! They take longer to do but the effect is very cool. I imagine Queen stitches the same way.

Good for you for starting ATS!!

Love both pieces!!!! Your Richmond Sampler is especially wonderful.

Poor Mia, is she in the kitty version of the terrible twos, LOL.

Great start on ATS. I'm having issues with the cloud on mine. But I worked on it for a long while yesterday. Sylvia is making great progress. Your Richmond Sampler is looking lovely too. Hopefully Mia will stay out of trouble for a little while.

The Richmond Sampler is gorgeous, Margaret! I would have signed up for that one but already have at least 2 classes I haven't begun. The same goes for ATS. Oh well, one day. Mia is getting so big! And she is such a kitten playing the way she does:) So, now you have another toddler in the house. Enjoy it all!

The border on the Richmond sampler is really beautiful! Someday I'll learn to like borders (not). Your kitty sound like a pill, lol. Have you considered getting her a friend to help keep her occupied?

Berit said...

How adorable she is in her love for your BC! I Lol'ed at "Baskets and Flowers", and good job on making your ATS start!

Sounds like Mia is having her "Terrible Twos". :) I do wonder just what it is about that lamp!

Hi Margaret - Richmond is gorgeous! You've made awesome progress on it - I admire you for getting that queen stitch border done. Little Miss Mia must be reaching the precoious teenager years and testing out mom on every issue! I thought about doing that ATS on Monday with Kim - Just know I would probably not stick with it and right now it is a complete kit with the original linen - I had considered selling it which is what I should do but it is certainly a beautiful piece when completed. Hope you have a good week too and that autumn has arrived. Mel

Oh Margaret your stitching as usual is superb, I think I've said before I have stitching envy when I visit..
The kitten is certainly growing, she's probably at the pesky adolescent stage?? She's a beauty though..

Great start on your ATS, Margaret! I love this sampler; one of these I'll actually get mine framed. And I love queen stitches but darn, all those in that Richmond sampler would just about send me over the edge. It's beautiful, though, like all your samplers. You do gorgeous work.

I fall in love with your Richmond Sampler every time I see it. It's a stunner. ATS is gorgeous too but Richmond has captivated me.

Awwww....look at MIa saying goodbye to your son and watching him walk away. How cute is that?!

She's a kitten, silly, and of course she wants to get in trouble! Rules, what rules? Oh, what's "breakable" mean? LOL. I loved your stories. They were too funny!

I love your Richmond sampler! You are doing a Fabulous job! Now that I know what Queen stitch is, I am wondering about stitching that sampler! I hope for wimps like me regular cross stitch could be used! ;-)

Have fun on your SAL too!

Margaret, I love your Richmond sampler and I can't wait to see more !! This is one sampler I'll have to end up stitching myself, I have seen it so many times and I like it more and more. Mia is just adorable.... aren't cats so curious? They do get into everything. Lots of fun to read her stories of mischief.

Margaret, your needles are smoking!! Great start on ATS, and your Richmond sampler is fantastic looking - love the colors in it.

Mia makes me laugh, she reminds me of a little kid wanting to go outside and play. She is in her naughty phase now, it seems. Looking forward to more Mia stories.

Just loved the photos of Mia watching the boy leave - she obviously misses him and that's so sweet. She does look bigger but I guess she would be getting her winter coat now too. Love the Richmond Sampler - good luck with the over one!

Margaret, Wow I love your Richmond Sampler, what is actually name of it? and did you get through SL? Its going to be another beauty.

How old is Mia now? I have 6 Mia's at home, they keep me busy, lol! Mine are a year old, one has stayed small, which is really nice in away. Your mia is charmer.

Also can you don't my new blog, please I promise not to change again.

Kittens are bad but they do keep life interesting! Mia is a sweetie. I love the picture of her looking out the door.

Your Richmond sampler is gorgeous!

Good luck with ATS, I'm planning to restart mine soon.

Your SAL looks great and it will be fun to watch your progress. I miss my kitty-cat (we had her with us 15+ years) but the thought of getting a kitten is a bit exhausting. We'll see, right now the dog is enough.

So sorry it's taken so long for me to catch up with my blog reading. I'm so jealous that you are starting ATS. I really want to attempt that one in my lifetime! Should I jump on the bandwagon now, or just watch and envy you, Kim and Mark?
Your sampler is beautiful, and Mia is so cute! Just like a little puppy (you didn't know you were getting the best of both worlds. LOL.) watching your son leave for school.
Hugs to you.

ATS is such a beautiful sampler. I want to start it soon but I can't find a color for the top of the cloud in the first panel. Right under the angel is a . Symbol but nothing matches in the directions. Hopefully you can help.
