What would you do for market stash?

I think the title says it all.  Kathy (no blog) and I had an adventure today, to say the least.  A huge snow storm has hit around the tri-state area here.  We thought for sure our planned trip to our not-so-local LNS would have to be cancelled (it's a little over an hour away in New Jersey).  But we woke up this morning to a rainy looking day and schools in session with an early dismissal (which means letting out by mid morning to noontime).  So we consulted each other.  And we decided that we really really needed a market stash expedition.  So we went!

About halfway there, I got a message from the schools saying school was cancelled and the kids would be gotten home asap -- the younger kids hadn't even gone to school.  Pshaw, we said.  The roads weren't so bad!  :D   So we kept going.  About 15 minutes before the LNS was supposed to open, I started calling to see if they were there.  And they weren't!  Even after their opening time they didn't answer!  That's ok, we said.  They often open a bit late.

We pulled up to the LNS and were horrified to see the store was dark!  No lights!  What?!  They have to come!  They have to open!!!  We were in panic mode.  We drove around back to see if their car was there.  Nope.  We drove back around front and were just about to do a Google search to see if we could figure out what the LNS owners' home phone was when -- voila!  The lights in the shop turned on!!!!   Oh we were sooooo happy!   lol!

Our poor LNS owner.  (Our LNS is Where Victoria's Angels Stitch.)   She'd gone to Nashville and brought home tons of things.  And she still wasn't finished unpacking  yet.  We really got first dibs on the market stuff!  Here's a picture of my stash.

Now keep in mind that I do have some more stash coming from a couple of my favorite ONS's.  I thought I was going to be so good this market.  Sigh.

By the time we drove back home, the roads were getting pretty iffy in New York.  New Jersey still wasn't bad for some reason.  But we got home!   So what would YOU do for market stash?   lol!

While I was at the LNS, I picked up one of my framed pieces, Rebecca Robinson by Scarlet Letter.  I'm so pleased with it!

Here's a detail of the frame.

And finally, I'm still plugging away on Sarah Woodham.  Of course, I didn't follow my promise to myself to stitch the verse along with the rest of the piece so I wouldn't be stuck doing the verse at the end.  I'm finished with Sarah -- except for the verse.  Sigh....   Here she is.

Here are some detail pics.

I really love how Sarah is coming out.  I'm just tired of that over one verse.  lol!

So it's snowing away outside.  The boy child is counting on a snow day tomorrow.  I guess we'll see!  They certainly messed up today sending the kids in.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.  I love reading your comments!  Hope it's less snowy where you are!

AND I'm happy to say that I think you have beat me on the haul from market...maybe.... I 've got a lot of what you show in your picture...LOL! :)
Deb calls herself a scissors whore, I think I'm a stash whore...LOL!

Hey Margaret, you got some wonderful stash! I succumbed to a couple of small orders the other day and then decided to take the plunge and order Honeysuckle Manor with my birthday discount from Drema LOL.

Sarah is looking gorgeous - love the colours in this one - and Rebecca's frame is so pretty, great job! :)

Vonna said...

OOOPS, and I forgot to tell you - the framed piece...DIVINE, I mean utterly and truly wonderful! Congratulations on that Margaret, it is lovely!

Quite a nice haul Margaret, glad it worked out for the better. I very much enjoyed watching your progress on Rebecca, but now... ohhhhh my ~ (fainting). What a treasure!

Oh Margaret - what a fantastic haul! I'm just going crazy over all the great stuff that you picked up! I am so happy that the store was open. I think I would have been hitting my head against the dashboard if I got there and the store was closed. One of these days I'm going to that store when I visit New York!!!

Your Rebecca is fantastic! That frame really sets Rebecca off well! I bet you were so thrilled to have her finished!

Now, I'm anxious to see what other goodies you're getting in the mail! You've got enough to keep you busy for a long, long time!!! And Sarah looks wonderful too!!

I think after market, stitchers use the postman's motto...what is it...neither rain, sleet, snow or ice will keep us stitchers from buying new stash! Ok, so I adapted it a little! lol Awesome haul Margaret! I am pondering cancelling my Saturday plans to go stash shopping.

Your framed Rebecca looks awesome and so does Sarah. You can do it...put something fun in the background and that over one will go by fast...especially how fast you stitch!

Oh my gosh, I love your stash haul, your framed piece and your WIP! Wonderful eye candy, all of it!
I've been to your LNS about 5 years ago when visiting a friend in NJ. I could've spent all day there, it was so wonderful! I really wish I were closer so I could go back!
Anyway, congrats on all of your great accomplishments, making it to the LNS and back, the beautiful framed sampler and the WIP! I'd love to do that one, but all that over one makes it iffy!

xoxo

I think your Rebecca sampler is one of the most handsome framed pieces I've seen, Margaret. I love how the color of the frame perfectly picks up the color of the houses.

And what a stitcher won't do to get more stash! You sure got some beauties :)

Rebecca is gorgeous! I love the frame - it is a perfect compliment to the colors in the sampler. Fabulous, Margaret! Your Sarah is almost done and is another gorgeous sampler. You do the most beautiful work - I'm so in awe every time you complete something that would take me a year. What a treat you are!

Great stash haul, too. You were so lucky she opened the store. I'm sure she was glad she braved the weather to come in when she was ringing you up! Can't wait to see what you start first!

Siobhan said...

Wow, talk about a lot of great loot! Good for you. :) Your Sarah looks WONDERFUL!

Siobhan said...

I knew that comment was too short! Your Rebecca--how could I not have mentioned that?!? It is fabulous--you picked out the most perfect frame for the sampler. Great job!

Kim said...

Absolutely gorgeous frame, Margaret! And Sarah....stunning....not much else I can say! Just stunning!

Laurie in Iowa said...

OMG... your Rebecca Robinson looks fantastic in that frame. YGG... your Sarah looks wonderful too, but shame on you for leaving all that over on verse until the end.
Loved looking at your Market stash. I heard that there were two new Quaker samplers in the GH book... could you post photos the the new samplers?
I'm so glad you and Kathy got to go to the LNS... you both are my heroes for braving the elements in the pursuit of stash.

RuthB said...

LOL I love what you'd do for stash! :) Hey, if the snow gets bad enough a stitcher's got to be prepared!!! lol

Congrats on the lovely framed piece-- major kudos on a lovely job. Look at it then back at your verse-in-progress and you'll feel inspired :)

Cari-in-VA said...

You are insane or was it desparation? To go out in such bad weather - I am so glad for you that the store opened, it made it all worthwhile, didn't it.

And boy what a stash haul! So what's first on the agenda?

Sarah is amazing! Yep, that over one can be very tiring - I'll have to remember that when I stitch her.

WOW, your framed piece is breathtaking - the frame perfectly sets off your stitcing, it's truly a work of art. Have you found a place of honor to hang it?

Glenna said...

I think the frame you chose for Rebecca is just perfect, and keep plugging on Sarah W--she's not far from done. Ooo--when I trundle up and down the road to New England to see the parents, I'll have to stop at that LNS (breaks up the trip nicely!)--is it far off 95? (Lazy me--I can go look it up). Yay on the stash. I'm like you--drive through floods, ice, volcanoes, etc. It's killing me to wait until Saturday.

Melissa said...

Fabulous! Love the stash, love Rebecca, love Sarah! You must be sooooo pleased with everything!

Are you still on a stashy high? I think I would be!

SimplyStitchingintheGarden said...

Love the stash you were able to get, even though there was a panic that the store would not open!!!

Your Sarah Woodham is just lovely and I love how Rebecca Robinson was framed.

Looking good ---- Roberta

Stitchy panic is exactly right.

Rebecca's frame is perfect. Sarah is looking good. I've never seen her. Who is her "mother"...design company?
Just keep plugging away and Sarah will be needing a great frame too.
Sounds like you had lots of fun. I saw pictures on the news of the snow really coming down in New Jersey today, now if your snowed in you will really have time to get Sarah finished.

Sherry said...

Sarah is looking absolutely stunning! I think that verse is my favorite part of the piece.

Wow! You really racked up on the stash! You have to let me know about Honeysuckle Manor. I am thinking this looks like something I would like.

Your framed sampler is SO gorgeous! I love the frame you chose. It really brings out the yellows and golds in the sampler.

Where to start..........the pile of stash is very cool! Your newly framed piece is stunning - love the frame. And Sarah is simply beautiful!

Keep at the verse. I know you'll get it done soon!

WTG on the stash haul. I think sometimes when you're trying so hard to be "good" that you fall harder off the wagon. I think you did a great job and I'm looking forward to see what you're doing next.

You were so lucky to do some stash shopping already. I'm heading to my (not so) LNS on Saturday!

Got back to Germany yesterday - my head feels like I left it somewhere... the house is a bomb! No sitting & stitching for me for a while. Gotta get this mess under control..boxes everywhere. Have fun with all the lovelies you bought.

WOW - what an adventure margaret - I'm glad it turned out great - I was afraid for a disappointing ending to the shop story - looks very happy to me ! That over one verse is what is keeping me from starting Sarah - however yours is beyond gorgeous and Rebecca in her frame - simply stunning! I LOVE this sampler - a guild friend is stitching it and the colors are so rich and beautiful in person. Enjoy your new stash Mel

Someone just forwarded me your blog address to share that you were stitching Sarah -- yea! The reason I BOUGHT the original was first and foremost, the verse. What a sweet sentiment. I'm glad you and so many others are choosing to stitch Sarah's effort, and I am so proud to have bridged a gap between so many generations ago and today. Thanks for sharing your efforts!

If I could spend some money without feeling guilty about it, I'd drive from HERE to your LNS in a snowstorm, LOL! Seriously this market had some great releases, IMHO. And you have excellent taste! :D Glad you made it home safely, and with such beautiful additions to your stash!

Hi Margaret,

Hi, I'm still in hospital, but hopefully I will be able to write over the next few days. Don't worry I am ok except for being very stiff and wore.
My goodness Margaret, you certainly got alot of lovely stash from the Market. Your Credit Card had a good workout girl lol.
The frame that you chose to put Rebecca in is really worth all the effort and expense. She looks really wonderful. Sarah is also looking like she will be another stunner. talk to you soon - Sandra.

Oh, a dream come true. Coming to your LNS and being the first customer to dig through the market stash. Oh blissful time. And I can see lots of things that would have landed in my basket as well. What's the chart of The Stitching Parlor called? It's darling.
Your framed Rebecca looks fantastic. The colour of the frame just brings out the yellowish colour of the stitched piece. Great! And Sarah is nearly done. She looks so great as well. Your needles must be smoking ...

Dona said...

I'm drooling over your stash haul, Margaret! What a fun adventure and great results. I know you'll remember the trip you guys made whenever you work on your new charts.

Rebecca turned out beautifully! Beautiful work and a perfect frame.

Sarah is also beautiful. I do know what you mean about doing a verse over one - it gets tedious, but you're halfway there!

Framing completed works is like the cherry on the cake. Rebecca Robinson is just gorgeous in her frame. Goodness, did you stitch Sarah Woodham fast! Loved your story about your trip. I can just imagine how anxious you both must have been when the shop was dark. Great stash! It sure lifts the moral when its cold and dark outside.
