Mouline Rouge redux

You'll never guess what I've picked up again. That's right, Mouline Rouge!

After I finished Rachel Hyde, I sat there wondering what I wanted to pick up next to work on. And I had this overwhelming feeling of having no clue what should come next. It was quite terrible! Then I thought -- hey, what about that Mouline Rouge thing? I could do that..... So I did. I'm doing the 40ct Antique White and NPI 636 that I'd gotten for my 4th try. What do you think of it?

All I know is I'm really sick of this motif:

And for that matter, I'm sick of this one too:

And I have to say that I still don't know if this is the ultimate red. Isn't that awful? But hopefully it's good enough.

Now that I've gotten this far, I'm sitting here wondering if I have the will power to keep going. I have to admit, working with just one color is a bit boring. And since I've stopped around this point so many times already, it's easy to feel that pull to drop Mouline Rouge once again and find something else to interest me.

I wonder what's going to happen......

I know you will come up with something, that is just perfect for you, dear Margaret! Even if you put MR away for awhile...can't have that sick feeling continuing, you can always come back to it, full force!

I personally love NPI 636...in fact I have it pulled to possibly use for CHS's Matter's Choice, what do you think?

I love what you have done so far, it is gorgeous!!!

I think it is beautiful! I finished MR a few weeks ago, and I agree, working on 1 color the whole time is tough! (You can see mine on my blog) It is worth it when it is done! Keep up the great job!

Hi Margaret,
I know the feeling with these type of samplers. That's how I feel about my Beatrix Potter. I just got sick of the same colour. I keep meaning to go back to it and do a motif but something always comes along to grab my attention.
BTW Ann Rayner is looking really good at the moment lol. - have a good week end - Sandra.

You know, MR is probably a good 'in between' project to do as one colour can be monotonous so I can appreciate how you feel about being sick of one motif, then another!
I'm sure you'll find something really good to stitch soon! What's in that stash basket?

Oh, dear. You are a better woman than I am to try it yet again. I do like the motifs though, even if you're sick of them. And the color. What if you did a motif here and there--maybe just a couple--in a contrasting color? I'm afraid I'm good at sticking out problematic life situations but no good whatsoever with sticking out problematic stitching situations.

And Rachel is just too beautiful. I love that you you got the three beautiful charts--maybe you could do one of those (temptation....) Either way, it'll be fun to watch.

Come on, Margaret - keep at it! It'll be spectacular when done and I think that red is just right!!!

It is beautiful, Margaret--that red is so nice. I think you're bored with it because you've done those motifs before. If you keep being bored, just work on other things and try to do a motif or two on MR every week. It'll be finished eventually!

I love this design , margaret, and the Red you chose seem to me very nice :-)for me, to work all the time with just a color keeps me bored :-(
Why not stitch in the same time another project with more colors ?? it is just an idea :-)
I had exactly the same feeling when I finished my little cottage from CA Wells : I stayed various days without knowing what next design pick up and as you say : it is terrible !!
wishing you pleasant stitching moments ,
Isabelle

Margaret, MR looks beautiful and your choice of red is stunning! I know what you mean about the pull to start something new. There is a certain excitement about new starts that fades off after we actually start them!

Margaret, you as such a fabulous stitcher!! Just keep plugging away...I mean stitching away and MR will be finished sooner than you think. Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!!

It's truly beautiful, but when your heart isn't in it, it's tough to be motivated. It's understandable. What if you just work on it once a week while working on other things the rest of the time? Maybe you'll start to love it.

I love red and I like what you have stitched so far. Hmmm.. would an audio book help?

Well I think it's gorgeous, and that red looks just right for it. I've never stitched this kind of sampler so I don't know the feeling - but I hope you'll stick to it and get it done!

Margaret - I wondered if you'd pick up MR again - too bad you are feeling unexcited about continuing - I do like the color but I find with these mono designs - I have to use an overdyed silk - I am positive I would have a hard time sticking it out with just a solid color - however it is a beautiful rich color. Maybe a rotation or maybe when you finish a motif you could do something else - I know you don't esp like rotations - you have to be happy - good luck finding something that excites you - hey how about that rug hooking LOL - Mel

I'm wondering what's going to happen too? It is really looking nice though, Margaret. I think I know what you mean though - you don't want to go back to where you've been, you want to start something new!! Motifs tend to get boring after awhile. But you know, if you keep with it, you're such a quick stitcher, you'll be done in no time!

Margaret, you're MR looks lovely in the NPI 636. I enjoy taking a break and stitching a monochromatic piece every now and again... it goes fast and is an easy stitch.

Do what pleases you... stitching should be fun, not a chore.

You should do this on 45ct. JUST KIDDING! You know I love red, but I don't think that I could do a piece with just one color. I think that is why I get so bored with a border. When you do finish it, it will all have been worth it.

It is beautiful, and I love that red. I know what you mean about the monochrome though. Much as I love red, I eventually really want to stitch with other colors!
