More progress, scissors, etc

I've gotten more done on Rachel Hyde.

As always, it's slower going than I would like. Those pine trees took forever!

And I'm really not in the mood for rice stitch. I don't mind eyelet as much. But the alphabet is in both. It's looking nice though. I love the colors. It's fun to be stitching something that uses my old green and blue favorites. I still love red, of course, but these are my first loves. lol!

In other news, Nina is having a contest over at her blog. In order to enter, you're supposed to show your scissor collection on your blog. So here I am this morning, running around trying to remember where all my scissors are! I managed to find what I think is most of them, but I know I also have a few preemies and others lying around. Anyway, here is most of my collection.

The Gingher ones I've been trying to get from Shepherd's Bush the last couple of years so I can get the matching scissor fob. But of course I haven't stitched any fobs yet! Oh well. I have a couple of Dovos in there, as well as some scissors from Kelmscott Designs. Thanks, Nina, for the giveaway!

In more news, remember the Freshman Formal that my daughter attended at her college with her boyfriend? Well, she didn't take any pictures, but her roommate did. Of course, the girl child only sent me one of them, and a silly one at that. Sigh.

Oh, and I see that the boy child's efforts to pass the dress on to the boyfriend were all for naught. She's wearing a different dress!!!! I'm not going to mention that to the boy child. lol!

Seems the boyfriend is good at making faces for the camera. Hard to get a serious picture from him!

But the girl child did send me at least one that is a nice one. :D (Obviously, these were taken on a different day.)

Ah, young love!

Miss Rachel is looking so pretty, especially the pine trees. Because there have been so many large scissors displays, I guess I'm feeling brave enough to show all of my scissors. Better get a pic of them.

Oh, so beautiful. Like Doris I love the row of pine trees very much. It's a sampler not like many others.

Great progress on Rachel Hyde!

Rachel is looking wonderful Margaret! I love those pine trees! Bet they were a little bit of a challenge. I hear you on Rice Stitch too - not one of my favorites - right up there with the Queen Stitch - ugh! Looks like you have a great scissor collection and you know, the fobs are always waiting for you to do when you run out of stash! LOL Love the pictures of your daughter and at least in the last one the boyfriend wasn't mugging for the camera!

What a beautiful daughter, Margaret. She is perfect...the boy isn't good enough for her!! Hmmmm
I love your sampler. A very lovely one to stitch, so keep at it even if there are some parts that give you heart-attacks! LOL My Plantation Sampler is getting to me right now.

Rachel is really coming along! I love the border. Your daughter is lovely. I'm glad you got some pictures of them before the dance. Her boyfriend looks like he is lots of fun too.
You have quite the scissor collection. How did you find them all? I have lots....but do I know where they all are? No. It's like someone comes in the middle of the night and steals mine.

Hugs!

Rachel Hyde is very pretty (but not as lovely as your daughter, but you knew that already!) - I like this one a lot! You're right in that it's quite different.

Hi Margaret,
Rachel is looking lovely. I love the blues and greens. The pine trees are lovely. It's always nice to have a bit of a change when working on a sampler. Although some stitches can be a bit of a pain.
Lovely photos of your children. In nearly every photo I have of my middle son, he always has this stupid look. It's nice to find one without it.
My parcel came, but haven't had time to open it yet. Hopefully I will be able to put the photos on my blog tomorrow. Have to kick somebody off it first. - Sandra.

Humph, I'd just typed in a long comment and gone through all the moves, and Blogger came up as unavailable and my text got wiped. Anyhoo, I'll just repeat that your Rachel Hyde is looking stunning - well done so far!

Margaret - I agree - Rachel does have some very interesting elements - it is an unusual sampler from color to content. Glad you are enjoying her! Your DD is a doll - what a beautiful young lady and I'm sure boyfriend is nice too - hard to tell from these photos - hope Rachel continues to provide pleasure. Mel

And your daughter is so pretty!

Hi, Margaret--Scarlet Letter has the sampler listed as Product of My Needle under the charts section. It doesn't show a picture, which makes me wonder, but maybe it is available.
