Great weekend!

I went away this past weekend -- actually from Thursday through Sunday. Went to visit a dear friend who used to live in my neighborhood but moved away a long while back. She's a knitter, not a stitcher, so I didn't get any stitching done while I was gone. But since I got back, I made this little French beauty.

This, of course, is the freebie from Blackbird Designs' new blog. If you stitch it up and submit a picture before April 27th, you can be entered in a contest drawing for some French goodies that Alma and Barb are bringing back from France. I couldn't resist, even though I probably won't win. But here's hoping! Even if you don't want to enter, you should bookmark their blog -- it's wonderful! Oh, and I should mention that my name, date and the swan aren't part of the original design. The swan is from the freebie from Gigi and Carinne Quaker 6 a Mains.

Anyway, back to my weekend. We had a grand time, doing lots of antiquing, some yarn stashing from WEBS, who is having an annual sale (you can get the savings online here as well), eating lovely lunches out and generally having a ball. Here is a picture of some of my vintage threads, lace, and other items from the antiquing.

I also found a bolt of a lovely large print which was from the Anna's Starry Night collection by Blackbird Designs on sale for 25% off and promptly got 5 yards. :D

Sadly, there's not much more progress to show on Rachel Hyde since last time. Not enough to warrant a picture anyway. Hope the rest of your week is great -- enjoy the springtime that is finally starting to show!

Wow Margaret - great antiquing haul! Those laces look great. Do you know what you'll do with them? I've heard about WEBS (only through the web though) and didn't know that they had a store! That must have been like going to heaven! Great finish on your BBD freebie. I like the bird you put into it. I wasn't going to do this, but then I realized that there was a drawing (which I'll never win, but not the point - someone has to, right?), so I started on one too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get it finished. Sounds like you had a wonderful time though visiting with your friend. I think we all need times like that - friends, food and stash! Hope to see more progress on Rachel soon.

Love your little BBD sampler ... nice swan. I've started mine, but who knows if I'll get 'er done? Judging by your fabulous prizes from the antique stores, you had a great time.

Hi Margaret,
Love your French freebie. It is lovely. The swan makes it your personal design. I love French samplers. They are lovely. I found a lovely new 12 part antique French sampler a few weeks ago. The sampler is called Victorine Berger 1897. I was going to send you the link but it is too long. But if you type in = clarelis.canalblog.com = the link to this sampler is on the left hand side of the blog. We are up to part 2.
What a great collection of antique stash. Sandra.

Love the little sampler. You are a quick stitcher. After our get together I picked up my old sampler and did a bit of it.

I hope you will blog about your Rowan knitting. Perhaps you'll create a separate knitting blog!

Love your personalization of the french alphabet, Margaret! Really pretty! I will stitch this sweet design, but won't get it done in time for the drawing. Boy the winner will certainly be a lucky one!

Love your antiquing acquisitions, sounds like you had a most enjoyable time!

Margaret - I am SOOOO jealous you went to WEBS - WOW - tell me what ya got kiddo??? I have ordered from them a few times - they offer great discounts on most items. Since I have enough yarn to open a shop - seriously - I have been trying to ban myself from online stash shopping LOL -

LOVE your BBD French sampler - I only saw this 2 days ago and I'm sure I won't make the contest even if I stitched night and day which of course I can't do - however it is precious and I hope to stitch it one day and maybe dedicate to my dear grandmother who passed way 10 years ago this month.

Hope you get more quality time with Rachel this weekend - Is spring coming to NY? Enjoy! Mel
