family

I finally finished that huge vase of flowers in the middle on the Red Deer Sampler.  Seemed to take forever.

I do love that vase of flowers though.  (Sorry for the poor photography and the crooked looking pics.)

It was a fun week this past week.  For one thing, this happened.

My boy child came home!  He'll only be home for a short while as he has an internship, a class, and work to keep him busy in Boston.  He's my long haired boy.

Look at his hair -- both my kids have nice hair!

Similar colors in the light to the girl child, right?  But in normal light, it's just a beautiful, rich brown.  (And in case you were wondering, the girl child does NOT dye her hair.  That color is nature made.)

And the girl child came home for Mother's Day!  Just for the day, but I'll take what I can get.

Everyone cooked a special dinner for me, and I got to do nothing but stand around and kibbitz.

Note the children doing their usual thing for the camera.  lolol!

Look at the delicious dinner they made for me, all three of them!   Shrimp Gazpacho soup and roasted squash (can't remember what kind) and beets.  So good!  (The boy child doesn't cook.  He just helped with the chopping duties.)

Perfect for a hot day!  I also got Mother's Day gifties, enough to make me fat and to make the house smell flowery and nice (if you get my drift).  But since Blogger won't cooperate with iPhoto, I'm not going to bother showing you.

(And yes, this blog post is late partially because of Mother's Day festivities, and partially because of Blogger and iPhoto not listening to each other.  I'd hoped they would start to communicate better later in the day, but no such luck.)

Thanks to everyone for their kind words about my blog.  I do like having this record of my crafts and of my life with family.  But I do also feel like I don't have as much to show sometimes as would make it interesting.  I will see how it goes.  I might skip a week sometimes or something of the sort, maybe just post every other week.  Or not.  lol!  We shall see!

Mia has done her best to avoid all the festivities.  She is finding new places to settle now that it's gotten warm.

Like the father type's chair, for example.  lol!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Wonderful pics! First, that red deer is so very gorgeous...so many stitches! Next, love the beautiful hair on both of your lovely children....LOVE the long locks on the boy child! Lastly, your chefs did well...looks yummy!
I'm feeling a blogging slow down myself. I seem to have lost my enthusiasm and cannot put anything into words. I've been taking long breaks, but it does not seem to help. I hope the mojo returns, but it's not looking good. We'll see!
Have a wonderful week.

The red deer is looking awesome--my friend Carmen stitched this--it might be calling my name.

Your children are beautiful--which I had their hair!

Miss Mia is one smart kitty girl and knows how to select the correct chair

Your sampler is looking gorgeous. I look at these big samplers and sigh - I feel I will never again be able to stitch such big ones unless some miracle happens with my neck, etc.

What a wonderful Mother's Day you've had. Nice to see your beautiful kids'... hair! lol. They do have nice hair.

Your cross stitch work is so beautifully done. How do you work on such fine linen? Do you use a frame of some kind, a magnifying glass, both?

I love your Red Deer sampler. It is gorgeous. I think I will purchase it to stitch. Gigi, right? Lucky you to have your Kids with you. I have a son and daughter also and they were with me. Lucky me.

So great to have your kids around for Mother's Day, especially when they are so good to you! And that hair color is truly amazing!

Your sampler looks wonderful. That is quite some flower.

Know that you were thrilled to have both children home for Mother's Day! Looks like they spoiled you (which you certainly deserve) with a yummy dinner. Hopefully they cleaned up the kitchen afterwards.

I love that vase, too! It reminds me a bit of the one on Susan Rambo. Why do boys always have such great hair? Matt has (had, it's been cut) great hair, too. Glad your family spoiled you for the day - mine too. Ain't life grand!?

Isn't it wonderful to be spoiled on Mother's Day, Margaret--and even nicer to have both of your kids home for the day :) Candy and flowers here, too (along with a nice gift cert. to 123 Stitch :)...

Lovely looking dinner--especially, the beets! I LOVE beets (one of the few vegetables I'll eat), but no one else does so I never have them.

Beautiful stitching and I'm glad to hear your blog will be kept going--no matter how often you choose to post :)

Oh my goodness, that crazy flower on Red Deer is breathtaking! You always choose the coolest projects,

Loved the family shot in the kitchen, but what really catches my eye is your poster in the back ground. I think I have the same one from Amy Finkel?

Glad your Mother's Day was so much fun!

Sounds like a perfect Mother's Day. The flowers in your funky vase are weirdly wonderful. And the flowers in the border - is everyone a different flower? Looks like that is the case.

Margaret, that is a huge vase of flowers in the middle of the sampler! It doesn't look like you have that much left now. Your Mother's Day meal looks yummy. It was great your kids made it home. That is the best part. :)

That is such a beautiful project, and so much work.

It is always so nice when our children come home for a visit. How nice that they treated you to a delicious meal and some wonderful gifts.

It looks like an absolutely delightful Mothers Day! The food looks like it was stylized by a chef.

Your son absolutely has gorgeous hair! I love the red highlights.

I've thought of not posting on my blog too but there are times I want to record the details because I can't seem to remember them. The blog is really handy for that. Plus there are people that I wouldn't have as much contact with since they're not on IG. I do try and keep the pics different between the 2 as much as possible. That doesn't always work though.

It's always the perfect Mother's Day when the kids come home. And when they do the cooking it's like the "point on the i" (as we say).

So nice to see the vase in your sampler finished. It's looking wonderful.

Blog as much or as little as you feel fine with. I'll read all your posts no matter how long or short they will be, lol.

Margaret, don't you dare stop posting! I love every post you write and find them so interesting and inspiring - you have inspired me to knit again, for which I bless you. It looks like a great Mother's Day and Red Deer is so gorgeous. I, too, sometimes have real problems getting iPhoto and Blogger to like each other - such a pain, isn't it? Your children are gorgeous, hugs, Kaye
