Knitty fussy knitty

I don't seem to be in a stitchy mood these days.  Winter keeps me going on the knitting right now.  I'm loving the colors in this fair isle scarf as I come to new bands of motifs.

The scarf works so that from that star band at the top, I will repeat the bands below it (E, F, G, H, G, F, E where H is the star band).  Then I'll go back to the older bands again, etc.  Everything gets repeated many times.  A fun scarf to knit!  I've knitted all the different bands now -- it's just a matter of repeating everything in the right order till the scarf is the right length or I run out of yarn.  Hopefully till it's the right length.  lol!

I laid out my fussy cut stars one more time to place everything and put in the half stars.

If you see the star in the bottom left corner, you'll be able to picture how there will be tumbling blocks in between the stars (formed by the white diamonds).

Here is the next star in line sewn to the first.

I hope the tumbling blocks show up well!

I gave the boy child a bit of a trim on the back part of his hair.  It's hard to tell from the pic though.

The back used to be a few inches longer!

I have to mention that I've been enjoying knitting podcasts a lot recently.  So many good ones!  But the ones I've been learning the most from are the Knit FM podcast and the Woolful podcast.  So much interesting and useful information!  They have changed my outlook on yarn and knitting for the better, I think.  Highly recommended!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone is keeping warm.  Have a great week!

Love your scarf Margaret - it is beautiful! I still need to finish the sweater for my son that I began at least 2.5 years ago - lol. Your stars with the diamonds behind them will be stunning!

How much fun to see all your fussy cut stars laid out together.

Hope you have a great week, and can stay warm!

The scarf is coming along beautifully. It's like sunshine! The quilt blocks are gorgeous too. No wonder you don't feel like stitching much right now. You have enough to do. Besides I think you spent all your stitching energy on "Sparrow"!

Mia is looking much more relaxed and happy!

Oh that Fair Isle is looking AWESOME! Terrifying to do, but awesome. Let's face it, all I've ever knitted was wash clothes so any color changing is terrifying, but that scarf-- wow. And the quilt, well -- beautiful, simply beautiful.

Have a great week!

The scarf is really going to be a beauty. Gonna keep it for yourself or do you think your daughter will snatch it? ;-)

The quilt stars look so cool laid out like that!

It's so cold and dreary here that I'm not in any kind of crafty mood. I just want to nestle under the covers!

Wow! Your knitting is awesome! I think the tumbling blocks will work out, it's a fantastic plan.

What a wonderful scarf Margaret! The colours are just sublime. I'm amazed at how one can knit in different colours to make a pattern...still a mystery to me. Love your fussy cut stars laid out for the finish. It'll be an amazing quilt once complete...a masterpiece! Give Mia a scratch for me. Hugs!

Such a pretty, pretty scarf you're knitting, Margaret--I can understand wanting to work with yarn in the colder months, too! If I knew how to knit, I'd probably be doing the same thing :)

Love seeing the star layout--it is one of my favorite projects of yours!

Enjoy the rest of your son's visit--I know Mia will be as sad as you when he heads back to college...

Your fussy cut stars are going to make an amazing quilt !! Can't wait to see them all together. I love your scarf. As soon as I win the lotto I'm buying this kit !! Right now my cash is assigned to my trip to The Attic on Thursday. I'm meeting sister Cathy for the Sampler Symposium then going to Utah for a week to visit family. Cathy bought a selfie stick so we'll be taking a lot of fun pics. HUGS

Oh, my, I see the George Washington rug underneath of Mia!! Did you hook that, was it Tish Bashelda's pattern? Wonderful!!! I have always loved that design, but am sure it is beyond my capabilities. Your scarf is lovely, how do you keep Mia from your ball of yarn? The star quilt is going to be spectacular, I know how difficult those inset seams are. I'm amazed boy child lets you touch his hair!! Mine never would.

Hi Margaret! Stopping by from the PSABC to thank you for your kind comment. I am so inspired by all of the winter projects you are working on. The colors of your scarf are dreamy! OH! The peek at the sampler walls behind your son's haircut is wonderful. My ABC Sampler will be the first project I will be hanging. I hope I too will have a wall filled as beautifully as yours one day. Thanks again for the stop by! Elizabeth

Of course you don't feel like stitching - you just finished a piece the size of a bedspread! lol. I would be surprised if you were stitching in your dreams too at the end there. :)
Love the scarf! Fair Isle really does make my heart sing. It is almost like cross stitching in yarn, having to follow the charts and change colors.
Man, that quilt is going to be something else. It's awesome!
