Flowers take forever and a visitor

I made some progress on A Parrot this week.  That red flower seemed to take forever.

I forgot once again to put in a quarter for size.  Next time maybe.  It's on 50/62ct fabric.

And here's my fussy cut star for the week, using an Andover by Jo Morton fabric.

We had an unexpected visitor this weekend.

My girl needed a little loving from her parents this weekend so she turned up and it was a very nice surprise.  I wheedled her into taking my red Bugga lightweight pullover sweater that I knitted.  It fits her too!  (Good thing loose fit is in.)

We ended up going out to see The Wind Rises by Hayao Miyazaki (of My Neighbor Totoro fame).

I stole the selfie the girl child took of us at the theater.  So cute, my girl.

Then we went for dinner (I had udon noodles with veggies).

And we had yummy ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery for dessert.  And ogled the other offerings on display.

It was a fun day.

For once, the big snow storm we were expecting didn't happen.  We didn't get one flake from the storm.  So bizarre!  The girl child's area got more though.  I'm hoping she will get to work safely this morning.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.  (Here's a sneaky pic of Mia as she was 5 minutes ago.)

Beautiful stitching! Looks like it was a nice visit this weekend. Hope you enjoyed the movie. It's on our list as we've seen all the Miyazaki movies.

It's a big flower, but very pretty. Glad the snow didn't appear for once. Those toffee apples took me back in time - I used to adore toffee apples made by a local lady in aid of church funds.

Lovely quilt star. Will you be using them all in a full-sized quilt?

I always love seeing pics of your wonderful family. Thanks so much for sharing your day! Love your stitching too. I was surprised how easy it was to stitch one the 50/62 count fabric. Would you agree? Although it's tiny, I think the difference in the count helps to keep track. I love, love, love your piece. Hugs to you and sweet Mia !!

Nice to have a weekend with the GC. Looks like your events were fun. And of course your stitching is great - and tiny! We had 75° Sunday, and supposed to sleet tonight with snow Thursday. Come ON... Nothing like your terrible winter, but SO unusual for us. Snuggle up with Mia!

Your daughter looks fabulous in your sweater. I'm sure every time she wears it, she'll think of it as the next best thing to getting a hug from you.

Mia looks like she's seeking warmth from the light.

The red flower is BIG!

So nice that you could spoil your daughter this weekend--the sweater looks fabulous on her! Looks like the three of you had a great time together, Margaret...

I'm loving your stars--each one is so unique and pretty. What do you plan to do with them?

We only got 3 inches out of what was supposed to be "the biggest storm of the winter"! Such a relief :)

At least the flower was a pretty red/pink.. always good when the ones that seem to drag on are nice colors I find.

You sure wouldn't have had to talk me into accepting that sweater! It looks wonderful!

We did get about 6" of snow here and it's super cold. But it could have been worse (I keep telling myself so I remain positive).

Yikes that linen count floors me! 40 count is about as small as I can 'see' any longer. Looks like a wonderful weekend with you daughter.

Noce stitching and sewing. Glad you got spared the snow this time :-)

The sweater looks wonderful on the girl child! She's lucky you gave it to her - lol. I remember stitching that flower -- and yes, it did go on forever...just wait for the big blue one on the right -- that one took me longer! I didn't have snow at home, but my office was closed yesterday - yay!!
