A lovely time was had by all

Here are some random pictures of my EF 1864 Sampler as I was stitching on it this week.

Such pretty flowers!

I also started another knitting project, Annabella's Cowl by Churchmouse Yarns, using Blue Sky Alpaca Silk and Rowan Kidsilk Haze.

We had the kids home for Thanksgiving.  Hooray!  The boy child got picked up at the train station Tuesday afternoon.  It was so good to see him and hug him!

The girl child drove home on Thanksgiving Day.  Everyone pitched in to help with the cooking, but the father type was the main cook as he always is for the holidays.

Here's the father type carving the turkey.  (please ignore the mess in the background.)

Here is a selfie that the father type took of the family.

And here is the girl child's selfie of us.

But of course, everyone had to go home eventually.  The girl child drove off Saturday night, ready to enjoy some tango in the city.  And we took the boy child to the train on Sunday afternoon.

So sad.

Mia was showing her displeasure at being abandoned by the boy child all the time he was home.  But she slept with him every night, and she grudgingly let him pet her once in a while.

Such a silly cat.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.  Time to finish off the Christmas shopping.  Yikes!

Doesn't your house seem weirdly quiet now that the kids have left, Margaret? I have most of today off and it is like a tomb--almost makes me wish I was at work :) I'm so glad your holiday was enjoyable--and how nice that your husband does much of the cooking...sigh--I can only dream about that :)

Lovely progress on the sampler!

Looks like a very traditional Thanksgiving. Your DH could star in "Father Knows Best".

Margaret, glad you had a good family holiday. Those are the best. Cats can be that way. One of ours that was attached to my daughter is the same now that she has moved out. Who says animals don't have feelings? Lovely work on your projects as always:)

So wonderful to see those happy shots of the family at Thanksgiving. Nice to have the kids home I'm sure, always sad when they leave - I see that in my own mothers eyes when we leave her house after a get-together and I see her quite often. Guess that longing for your children lasts a lifetime. LOVE LOVE your lavender cowl - isn't that BSAS gorgeous yarn !!!!!! who doesn't love KSH - did I mention I started a Rowan design using the KS Glamour - beautiful stuff - enjoy Mel

Loved the selfies (your whole family is cute!) and the photos of your Thanksgiving (canned cranberry sauce--my favorite and always on my table). The colors in that sampler are truly remarkable and such a nice break from winter, even though we're only at the beginning of winter.

Awww, Margaret, I love your family photos !!
I am sad, there is nothing like Thanksgiving in Germany. May be, that Christmas here is the only time, that family come together so intensive as you have that in Amerika.
On Christmas, I will have all my children home again, and their friends too.
Liebe Grüße von Anja

Oh the colors of your sampler...so extraordinary.
It looks like you had a Fabulous Family Thanksgiving. Poor Mia...abandoned again. Solomon is still punishing me for being gone this summer.

Very lovely family pictures. Take as many as you can when the whole family gets together. Once the children are farther away it won't be possible any longer. For me the pictures where we all are together are real treasures.
Your sampler gets more and more beautiful the more flowers you add. It must be fun to use all these colours.
