Dorothy and Jane

I only worked on two projects this past week -- much more typical for me.  Stitching-wise, I worked on Dorothy Walpole.  Got to the pretty part, skipped the over one section for now.  I needed some pretty!

For the clamshell section, I'm stitching rice stitch instead of the called for eyelet stitch.  I've been told by a couple of friends that the original antique was done in rice stitch and I like how it looks.

I also had to put in a color for the W in the clamshell section -- the chart says that Z and W are the same color, but of course that won't work here where there are obviously two colors side by side that are different.  Very odd.

The other project I worked on was my Dear Jane blocks.  These are the blocks I finished this week.

And all my blocks so far.

I still have two applique blocks to do.  Hopefully I will get to those sometime soon.  But otherwise, I have to wait for the next BOM package to arrive.

Somehow, the boy child and Mia seem to be cuddling a lot these days.

Or having a staring contest.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.

Oh I love your work on Dorothy...she's a beautiful piece. Your quilt is coming right along too. I think it's fun to switch it up and work on a couple of different project too. Keeps it exciting. Mia and her BFF are so much fun to watch. Maybe she's snuggling a lot 'cause she knows the school year is just about to start .... Hugs and have a great week Margaret!

Oh that's so cute - A Boy and His Cat! Mutual adoration society.

Dorothy is looking great. I understand about skipping sections to get to the pretty parts!

The quilt blocks are very nice too.

So lovely, your Dorothy. I found the same thing with the Z and W. Love the quilt pieces too, and you're slowly but surely pulling me into the abyss with that.

Mia is going to be sad when her boy goes back to school...

Two great projects! Between you and Nicole, you're really pushing me to add Dorothy to the mix. I have yet to open my Dear Jane packet! Thinking I might want to do that. Probably best to try and stay on top of that! Ha! Have a great week!

Also love the pictures of your son and Mia. I swear - I'm so odd - but I think often about how awful it will be for Mia again when he goes back to college soon! It makes me cry to think of it....

You hand piece them right? I'm starting my first quilt ever and fairly nervous about the process. Such sweet photos of Mia and the boychild. Hugs!!

Triangle blocks! Very neat. And tricky. I'm in awe of all the quilt blocks to be honest - matching up those seams is HARD.

Hi, Margaret, I love that band that you just stitched, the rice stitch looks great, and I substitute it a lot for eyelet, too. I enjoy doing rice stitch. I don't think I knew you were doing Dear Jane, is the BOM from that store in Texas (can't recall the name). How far along are you? I have debated jumping in a couple of times...
Boy child and Mia ... so sweet, so much love :)

Your Dorothy looks great! I am doing both the over one and all those rice stitches in small sessions. I am not enjoying the Bargello so have skipped down to start the wonderful flowers.

I am sure you will have her finished shortly!

You are right, the rice stitch looks absolutely beautiful in this section. And it doesn't occur as often as the eyelet stitch. And I see that you have finished the satin stitched letters that you put on hold last time, lol.
Ahhh, the Dear Jane blocks are so beautiful.
