A couple of finishes

I finished stitching A Needleworker's Sampler Huswif by With My Needle.

A Needleworker's Sampler Huswif
by With My Needle
kit from class

I just love it!  I'm going to take my time deciding whether to finish it into a huswife or frame it.

I also stitched this little piece.

Adam and Eve by Kathy Barrick
36ct Vintage Light Examplar by Lakeside Linens
NPI called for

I was naughty and didn't bother filling in the background as called for in the design.  I stuck it in the other side of my lovely sewing box from Nicola.  I'm not sure the two pieces look good together, but I'm pleased with my little Adam and Eve.

The girl child was here this past weekend again -- it's been nice to see her so often.  The two of us went through a box that my father sent me from home so the girl child could choose from the "vintage" clothing from my younger days (some from my mother's wardrobe as well).  We found this sweater and the boy child commented that the girl child looked like Vilma from Scooby Doo.  lol!  (the color in real life is exactly the same color as Vilma's sweater.)

Jinkies!!

We've been having gloriously cool and lovely days this past week or so, and we are all loving it.  Mia especially has enjoyed basking in the sun and the open windows.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

The huswif looks so bonnie finished Margaret, I wouldn't know what to choose - it would look great framed but it would also look good finished as a huswif. It's good to spend time with grown up family, I must say I'm dreading the day when my son moves out on his own - hopefully it will be a long way off. Say hi to MIa for me.

So beautiful, everything you make. I love the colors on the huswif. You do good work:) Thanks for including Mia, as always. Enjoy your days spent with the kiddies.

Beautiful finishes! Yes, your daughter does look like she's wearing Velma's sweater...

I love the colors in the huswif! You did a terrific job on it. I like the two pieces in your sewing box - but then I'm a big proponent of "everything doesn't have to match"! I like the way the colors in each piece complement the other piece.

The huswif is beautiful. Either finish type will show it off.

Only a stitcher would consider herself naughty for leaving out the background! I don't think you will have to go the stitcher jail for that. The A&E looks nice in the box.. a perfect fit.

I love that sweater style and still have a couple. We used to call those 'poor boy' sweaters back in my college days. Maybe the style was slightly different. My brain has stored that info way in the back of the vault!

Congratulations on two lovely finishes! The huswif is awesome! It will be interesting to see which way you will finish it.

Thank goodness for cooler weather! We had about 2-3 days of it and now we are back to heat.

It must be nice to have your kids around more these days! Have fun!

Beautiful finish! Margaret! I framed a BBD design that was supposed to be a housewife (several years ago) and I love it! I'm sure however your finishing, whatevernitnis, will be perfect! Sweet CHS A&E finish, too! We are also enjoying the cool weather! Love it!!!

Both finishes are gorgeous, congratulations

Gorgeous! It's a shame that much of the stitchery is hidden when rolled or folded, but huswife's are really beautiful pieces. Tough decision. BTW, I have a sweater like that!

Mia really looks like she's enjoying herself on the windowsill. :-)
Congrats on finishing two beautiful pieces.
I like the look of the A&E with Amy Mitten's piece. Not everything has to be matchy matchy... it gives it that schoolgirl charm.

Great finishes Margaret! Love the colors on both projects.

Nice pics of your daughter. Red looks very nice on her:)

This huswif is one of my favorites from Ellen. You've stitched yours beautifully and your photo has captured the wonderful color.

Do share the other treasures in the box from your father!

Your needle is a flying! Beautiful work! Love the bold colors in the huswif. Your box finish is very nice, I like the two diffenent designs together. My Chewie is loving similar weather up here. We let her hang out with us on the back yard on a leash with her harness. She loves it. Cries like a baby if we go to work in the yard and dont take her. She might be a bit spoiled. Hehehe. Glad you got extra GC time!

Gorgeous finishes, love them! Wish I could stitch as fast as you ha ha!

What gorgeous finishes, as always! You do the best samplers!!

Your daughter is just gorgeous too :-) Glad you had a nice visit! How fun to go through your vintage clothing and that she found something she liked! My mother used to say to me that things always come back in style and I thought NO WAY, but sure enough... sometimes I see kids wearing stuff me or Jeff used to wear and I'm like...OhMYGod NOT AGAIN!!

That Mia loves her boy, doesn't she?!

Vilma! What a throwback and looks perfect on the girl child!

What lovely finishes! Love the Adam and Eve piece.

I have been amused at how maxi dresses re making a return. Guess I never thought that Iwould become "vintage" one day!

Carol said...

Such beautiful finishes, Margaret! Really love the little A&E piece...

And Velma--yes!! Only your daughter needs to gain (quite) a few pounds :) She is very pretty!

Love the colors in the huswif. It's a wonderful piece.

I still have a ribbed sweater like that in my closet. In chocolate brown though. I can't let it go for some reason, even though I haven't worn in it in at least 5 years. Heh. It looks really good on your daughter. She should keep it for sure. :)

Really pretty colors in the huswif! Love the Adam and Eve finish too! Your daughter looks very pretty in red. And Mia is sweet as always. :) Our cats have really enjoyed the open windows the last couple of days, too.

Congrats on the pretty finishes!

You finished that huswife already, that is amazing, Margaret!

And I am still having sewing box envy-even though your inserts look great :)

Good to see a young person that enjoys vintage clothing. I still get corrected everytime I call pants bellbottoms :) I tell them "bellbottoms" is correct and "flares" is incorrect!

Fab finishes! If your daughter ever has a need for prom dresses from the 80's ~ I'm sure mine are still in my closet at my parent's home!

Applause applause!! You must have stitched in your sleep. I struggled also whether to frame it or not. But alas a frame it was.

Ruth said...

Oh dear Heavens, that is Velma's sweater! LOL

Congrats on the beautiful finishes. Of course, we are accustomed to these from you, but still you deserve to know how much we all love your work :)

Glad it's cool somewhere - certainly not down in the deep south but after all it's August and it is expected. LOVE your WMN finish - OMGosh - it is stunning. The little A&E design is so cute. I'm so glad kathy is designing again - nothing like her style. How's the knitting - did you finish the shawl ? I've been away from blogland alot lately - What's next for Margarets needle(s)? Cheers mel

Congratulations on your pretty finishes, Margaret! I love the way A&E look in the box next to the Quaker piece. Both look nice with the wood.

Gorgeous colors in your huswife, too!

Brigitte said...

And another great finish. And so quickly stitched. Now I'm curious to see what you will be doing with it - finish as a huswife or frame it. Adam and Eve looks great and I think it goes so very well with the Quaker in the opposite frame.
Cooler weather, that's what we were longing for as well. And now we have it, but it's paired with rain. I don't mind ...

Holy cow Margaret, that huswife is gorgeous!! Congrats on 2 more lovely finishes. :) Can't believe how fast your kids are growing into young adults.

As always, your Huswife is exquisitely stitched and just gorgeous. Although it would be lovely, made up into a folded huswife, it would be so beautiful as a framed piece to display.

I love the Kathy Barrick piece too and it looks really nice in that nice double frame.

Your daughter looks so pretty in that sweater. I must admit that, I too, have one just like it in cranberry! I have a tough time parting with some of my 'vintage' clothing too.

I know that you treasure those special days with your dear children, as they are so very special and dear to your heart.

Blessings for a wonderful weekend!

Oh Margaret, I knew you'd finish the Huswife quickly. And she is gorgeous. When I finish mine (in the next ten years or so) I plan on doing the needleroll...

Pics are great - glad to see you are visitng with your daughter and looks like your son is enjoying summer.

Your needle has been flying Margaret!
Such gorgeous finishes. I love the huswife piece.
How fun that your girl is wearing vintage clothes from both you and your mom :)
Mia must be the most contented kitty ever with all the love she gets from your boy.

Big congrats on your huswife Margaret!!! It's such a stunning design. I would have a hard time deciding whether to frame it or sew it into a huswife. I'm sure whichever method you choose will be lovely. That Kathy Barrick A & E is darling. Is it a new design of hers? It looks wonderful in your sewing box! Such a great photo of Vilma! LOL!! She does look like her in that sweater. Give Mia a little snuggle for me!
