Eventful week! -- loooooong post

First off, here is my Hex on the Beach quilt -- three more rows to go and the top will be done!

Our 30th anniversary was this past Tuesday.  Here is my gift to my sweetheart.

Sorry for the reflections.  Here's a closeup of the frame.

We celebrated our anniversary in a big way.  The day before, on Monday, we went into the city with the boy child in tow to meet the girl child and her boyfriend for dinner.

Aren't they cute?

Then we rushed by subway (down to just the four of us without the boyfriend) to the Barclay Center in Brooklyn for this!

Yes!  If you've been reading my blog for a long time, you'll know I'm a huge Beatles and Macca fan.  The father type and I got to see Paul McCartney in concert once in 2002 in Madison Square Garden when the kids were still little.  But hey, my kids were raised on Beatles and Wings and McCartney!  They had to see him in concert too, right?  So we did it.

We were in the nose bleed seats -- hard to tell from this picture, but boy, were those seats scary!  It felt like you could take a tumble right down to the floor!   Hard to get good pics of the concert too, but we could see pretty well!

It was such a good concert.  Paul isn't afraid to be nostalgic now.  Lots of Beatles and Wings hits, lots of singing along.  I had a huge grin plastered on my face for the whole concert.  And I think the kids and the father type enjoyed it as well.

Back at home, the father type and I had a yummy dinner on our own on our anniversary.  Crunch roll for me -- yum!

You can see the father type's yummy meal in the background.

Yesterday was Father's Day.  The girl child came home and we had a yummy dinner at a local steak house.

I'm not into steak, so I had the Ahi tuna steak with soba noodles and veggies with an Asian twist.  So good!

And a chocolate mousse cake for dessert.  Decadent!

The girl child had to leave nice and early this morning to head to work, but it was so nice to see her again so soon.  Twice in one week!

The boy child and Mia have been up to their antics again this week.

Mia loves her bean bag pouf, but isn't happy about being squished.

The boy child placed a sweatband on Mia's head.  And she didn't try to get it off.

This is what Mia looks like when she has had a piece of lox from my bagel and wants more.  Methinks she loves salmon.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Congrats on the 30th anniversary! I'm not so in love with post-Beatles Paul, but DH and DS1 saw him a year or so ago and were over the moon. The quilt looks fantastic.

So loving your quilt, Margaret and you Hart sampler is gorgeous! A wonderful anniversary gift. Happy Anniversary!!! You know I'm a huge Beatles and Paul fan, too and know you enjoyed the show. Those high seats always scare the bejeezus out of me when we have to go that far up.

I have a friend who is a huge Paul McCartney fan and works live sports television. She was working the Superbowl game where he did the half time show - and was completely, utterly blown away when after the show he came to the truck where all the techs slave away and personally thanked everybody for a great show. Most of the talent aren't really aware that there are people in trucks in back of the venue running tape decks and doing all that grunt/tech work that makes them look good on TV. But there he was, being gracious and personable and utterly marvelous. She still gets a bit flustered and fan-girly when she talks about it.

One thing I've been meaning to do is thank you for all the pics of Mia. Until a year ago last May when old age finally caught up with him, I had a kitty named Neko who except for the spot on the side was the spitting image of Mia. When you ran the entry about Mia and the coffee, I forwarded it to my pals, and the general consensus was - "Neko lives!" I get a real charge out of seeing her antics; she always makes me smile.

I'll bet you can't believe you're celebrating 30 years already, can you, Margaret? Where does the time go! I think those years of child-rearing often pass by in a blur...

So glad you got to see Sir Paul again--what an experiences. I would have been terrified in those seats as I'm afraid of heights! But, with the giant screens and such at today's concerts I'm sure you could see just fine.

Love your quilt more each time I see it!!

Happy anniversary!!!!!!! I'm so glad you had a such a happy time to celebrate!!! 30 years is amazing. :)
Also: those seats DO look scary to me in the photo. I have a thing for heights and.......'shudder'. But who could miss an opportunity like that. He could quit touring anytime, right?

Hi, Margaret,
Love your hex quilt, and your Hart Live is beautiful! What a wonderful anniversary present to DH. How blessed you are to have made it to 30 years, I lost my darling husband to cancer at 26 years. I see that Mia is enjoying that beautiful basket quilt again! So she has to wear a little bell? I tried that on one of mine, and it drove them crazy!!! I have always like Paul McCartney too. So does my son, age 23, he went to Bonnaroo last week, and Paul played for 2 1/2 hours! He loved it! It is amazing that the young folk still like what we liked so many years ago! I guess those songs are timeless.
Hugs,
Melinda

I can easily understand that you just had to go to that concert. When Bruce Springsteen has a concert somewhere in the south of Germany, it's also an absolute must for me to go there, lol. Great to see that you had a good time there.
I'm looking forward to seeing that wonderful quilt finished.
