3/4 of the way there, TUSAL, and the kids

I'm 3/4 done with my Hex on the Beach quilt!!  A couple more weeks and I hope to be done!

I'm starting to dream about making those little x's again, but I'm determined to get this quilt done first.

It's going to be a different kind of TUSAL this time around.

You can see my ORTs from my quilt sewing in the ORT container my friend Sandy (no blog) made.  Along with the hexies that are left to be sewn together.  Just one more type of hexie to be basted too!

The girl child baked a cake for her boyfriend for his birthday.

Yes, she made the flower on top -- out of a beet.  It's a dark chocolate beet cake (there's beet in the cake too!).  Sounds like the birthday was a big success.

The boy child and his furry pal Mia have been up to various antics this week.

Mia being puzzled by this weird device.

Mia on boy child's back, looking a bit puzzled.

Mia in one of her least favorite positions.  I think it's one of the boy child's favorite ones.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.

You are so disciplined with your needlework, I wish I had some of your self control instead of being a total butterfly. Mia is such a teddy bear, I love to see her. By the way I've taken some of what you said on board and i'm looking at options for stitching two handed to see if it helps.

Your quilt is looking gorgeous!

I'll have to take your word on a beet cake. I'm sure you can't really taste them with the chocolate but I'm not a huge beet fan. :)

Your hexie quilt is gorgeous. It won't be long now and your basting box will be empty.

Your quilt is looking so good Margaret!! I know that you miss making those x's, but you're going to have a stunning quilt when it's finished.

LOL on Mia's least favorite position. I don't think that any cat likes that. I can remember my brother doing that to our cat all the time and he hated it!!

Isn't it fun have Eli home???

Your quilt is awesome--you are on the home stretch.

Mia and the boy child--not sure which one loves the other the most.

I still can't figure out how the hexi patchwork goes, and won't try.
What a bond Mia has with your son.

Your quilt is gorgeous Margaret -- love it. The beet flower is so pretty. I've heard of using beets in a chocolate cake...bet it was yummy. And Mia and the boy child -- what a pair!!

That quilt is looking more and more beautiful!

Some much playfulness at your house! That kitty and son provide endless opportunities for you and your camera.

Not sure about the beet flower. Maybe not to my taste, but I think you can count it as your vegetable of the day so you can feel nutritionally virtuous!

Keep it growing Margaret!! I can see it's almost complete! Love that photo of Mia on your son's back. Too funny!! And the one where she doesn't look too pleased with being on her back. I spy Jane on the wall!! Hmm, what sampler are you going to work on after the quilt is done? Manifesto? Or a new start?!

That is one glorious quilt, Margaret--I'm so glad you're taking time away from stitching to finish it!

A beet cake--now that is something I've never had. I'll bet it was very moist and tasty. I love beets--one of the few vegetables I'll eat :)

Looks like Mia and your son have settled into a relaxing summer routine!

That quilt is so fabulous. Can not WAIT to see it finished.

You know, I've never had a beet. I keep thinking I should try though. I mean, I love all sorts of other vegetables like kale and squashes, etc. I think they scare me a little because of the mess when you cut them up.
