Several of you mentioned how the process of filling in the colors on AAWFAA is much like coloring in a coloring book. And it certainly feels that way when you look at what has been done.
But if you look at what has to be filled in, you'll see there's more than one color to be done in most spaces. Still the results are just as satisfying as when one was little and colored carefully inside the lines.
I just love the reds and pinks! I wasn't happy with the snake's colors, so I substituted a light green for one of the colors. I always feel a snake needs some green. :D
I received a prize in the mail from Gabi of Lady of the Floss. It's this lovely chart with the leftover threads from the project.
It's a perfect way for me to commemorate all of our trips to the tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree. Thanks so much, Gabi!
Mia discovered a warm place to sleep yesterday -- under my winter coat and the father type's sweaters.
She was quite content to be all snuggled up warm and cosy.
The boy child has registration for his spring semester classes today. I hope it goes well and he gets in all the classes he wants. Fingers crossed!
Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

AAWFAA is coming along isn't it?
I love the chart you won. =)
Oh your 'coloring in the lines...the lines are your friends' is coming along nicely!! It really is a fun stitch isn't it? I'm so glad you're zipping along !! Hugs to you and sweet, cuddly Mia !!
Aww I love your stitching so much..
Very cute chart that you won xx
Beautiful progress! Love the new chart...there certainly is a romance to going out and picking a tree...great Americana.
Stay warm, Mia!
Robyn
Your Sampler is looking stunning, amazing how fast you go! Sweet Mia! I know she has her paws crossed for her boy to get in all of his class choices come spring! :)
Gorgeous with the colors filling in more and more. Don't you find it difficult to not stitch on to the dark outline, though? I always have to fill first and do the outline afterwards:) Love the Christmas tree farm, how the snow pops out.
I understand Mia's need to stay warm, as we are very cold at the moment!
You really made a lot of progress on that sampler in the past week! Looking better and better.
Yea for winning a chart!
Beautiful!!!!Mia you are cold.....
Here the snow is there...pfluiffff!!!!
Good week.
My favorite part of that sampler is how cheerful the snake looks. And I think you should do the cat in the Mia's colors!
Your progress is coming along nicely! I like the chart you won too. Wish I could be somewhere snuggly like Mia is!
Wonderful progress and I love the chart you won!! Mia definitely knows where to go to get warm! : )
Great progress!
I love the idea about the tree farm. I have one from Chessie & Me that I have always wanted to do about bringing home the tree. We make that trip every year too.
Almost that time!
I just realized that that is one happy looking snake. Looks great!
LOVE the idea of coloring like when we were kids! It's really coming along nicely Margaret.
Mia is so cute. Cats always want to be warm and cozy. Kind of like us humans:)
It's looking great! Your substitution of green in the snake was a great idea.
Your A&E All For An Appel has inspired me to want to get mine out and work on it. Its just beautiful.
I can't believe how much stitching you've gotten done. It is like a coloring book, isn't it? I think that when I get going on mine again I'll have to do all the outlining and then 'color'. It looks amazing!!
AAWFAA looks fabulous and I like the changes you made to the snake.
Wow - beautiful!! Just love the color.
Mia is so sweet! Congrats on your prize ;-)
You're zooming along nicely on AAWFAA, Margaret! It's a bit like paint by number, isn't it? Nice win! Mia is adorable as always, too.
Oh my you made some serious progress and it looks stunning. Love the Christmas chart you won - congrats.
I hope you son gets the classes his wants - I remember those times (long ago). love Annette
Your Sampler is looking amazing.I also hold my finger crossed for the boy child maybe it helps.
Mia definitely knows what's good for her!
Have a nice week, Evelyne
The colours are lovely Margaret, although on my iPad they must show up differently as the snake looks blue. I am amazed that you can do all the outlining first - after that the filling in would be a relief.
Clever little Mia finding such a snug spot.
Mary
Hajj....look at sweet Mia all snuggly and warm!
Love your stitches ~ the colors are lovely!
Good luck to your DS ~ hope he gets the classes he wants. Can you believe he's almost done his first semester!?!
Hi Margaret, you are going gang busters with AAWFAA. It is looking wonderful. Sometimes when we can fill a piece in with just the one colour is a wonderful change from checking all of the time to see if we are on the right track. - Sandra.
Oooh! Love how the colours are filling in the outlines!! So much fun to watch you stitch this piece! I love how little Mia finds new cuddly places to snuggle into!!
Hugs!!
I love the green you substituted in the snake! This is turning out beautifully!
First let me say, "Oh how I love your blog". There, done! :o)
You know, when I first saw AAWFAA, I wasn't quite sure if I liked it or not. Then after deciding to join Nicola's SL year, I went to the SL website and was quite drawn to AAWFAA. Now, by watching you stitch this design I am slowly but surely believing this will soon be in my stash patiently waiting to be stitched.
I'm thoroughly enjoying your updates on this one.
AAWFAA is so beautifully coloured, it will look stunning when finished, framed and hung.
The education systems between our countries are so different. I hope that Boy Child securers the classes he wants.
Bless Mia she looks such a gentle soul.
You've made really good progress! It does rather looking like coloring within the lines with some shading thrown in.
That certainly is a great project to commemorate your family tradition. Have you gotten your tree yet for this year? We took the weekend off from holiday "stuff". We may regret it later but it sure was a relaxing weekend!
AAWFAA is looking great. Looks like your almost done. Would you be interested in selling the chart when your done.
Linda
It certainly does look like "coloring" in the lines. It looks good too....
happy stitching...
Very cool - and it does kinda look like a coloring book with the outlining.
So glad you are back and up with power. I am behind too - and just starting to catch up.
I am so glad you had a nice Thanksgiving with your kiddos at home. My son was home with me - to my Mom's for most of the day. Since he lives down the street, he didn't come spend the night - even tho he may as well live far away since I don't see him often.
Love the pics of you guys out to eat - look like fun was had by all.
And I bet Mia loved her family all back together. It is so hard on the pets as you can't explain...my dog crys for a bit every time the boy leaves.
Sherry
:o)
Stunning!!!! I just love the vibrancy!!!! This one will def be on my list!......
I'm loving AAWFAA more and more with every picture you post. The snake especially - he's got such a gleeful look in his eye!
Mia looks like the agreeable sort of kitty who could find a comfy spot to curl up just about anywhere....
Beautiful progress. I like the green for the snake, you are absolutely right about snakes having green.
Hugs to you and Mia!
Nice going on the WIP - it's more lovely each time. Congrats on winning the chart.
oh c'est magnifique merveilleuse broderie, bisous bisous
You certainly learned to "color in the lines" so well, Margaret--your WIP is looking splendid... I'm so envious of you winning that chart--I just LOVE it!! I have a similar one by Victoria Sampler which I finally might get to next year. I look forward to watching your progress on this one...
Moving along quickly, now, isn't it? Lovely!
Your sampler is coming along beautifully! At the rate you are going, I expect to see a finish next week.
LOVE that Jingle Bells Christmas Tree Farm - I've looked at that one many times. What a great gift. Your AAWFAA is looking great - I wish I had the time to tackle it but I sure don't. Mia is so cute! mel
Great progress on the fill in Margaret! And congratulations on the new chart! I have this one...I think.
Margaret, HI, sorry for not being around, computer issues and then life!!
But no excuse, since you all had to deal with Sandy - thank goodness you all survived with a bit of inconvenience and damage. I was able to read and get caught up with your blog - love your vacation trip - would love to go back to New England - that is where I was born and raised - The Boston area.
Your sewing room is lovely ENJOY!! and of course Mia is just a cute as ever.
Take care and happy stitching.
Love that tree farm gift you received. What a lovely memory. Hugs and Happy Holidays.
Congrats on your win! :)
I didn't notice the snake's face before (too busy admiring those six-pack abs!) - he's got quite the grin on, doesn't he? Up to no good for sure!
