Holding pattern

Dames Boarding School is finished.  I put the last stitches in last night.  Thank goodness there wasn't as much grass to fill in as with ATS!

Dames Boarding School by Examplars from the Heart
40ct PTP Legacy
WDW fibers

I did change one or two colors -- the color of the grass, for example.  And I noticed that the color for the roof (which is used in a few places) is a totally different color from what it looks like on the chart picture, where it looks grey.  Oh well.  Whatever!  I'm pleased with the finish anyway.

It feels rather like we're in a holding pattern here.  Still working on nursing the recuperating boy child.  He's feeling pretty fine, will actually start in on rehearsals with a group of friends for a show they're putting on at a local eatery next week.  But there's still a whole lot of healing going on and a whole lot of healing yet to do.  Here's hoping the wound heals correctly and well.  We also have to start moving on getting those various things done so the boy child is ready for his first year of college.  I'm still having a hard time getting my head around the fact that he's leaving in about a month.  ACK!

The girl child seems happy in her new home.  She's started a cooking streak, throwing bits of recipes together to make her own gourmet dishes.  Pretty cool!  Definitely didn't inherit my hatred of cooking.  :D

Mia, on the other hand, is Mia.  She's been doing a whole lot of this recently.

She seems to have reached 11 pounds!  She was always a 10 pound or 10.3 pound cat before.  Methinks she needs a bit of exercise!  lol!

Been enjoying the Olympics -- seems I'm really the only one who's interested in watching them in this house.  The boy child will watch half heartedly, but I think he would rather read his book.  lol!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Beautiful finish!

And don't worry, you've got lots of Olympic watching company - we're just all in different places!

Margaret -- Very nice finish!

I'm glad to hear your son is doing better and that your daughter is enjoying living on her own.

I'm enjoying watching the Olympics too:)

Very pretty finish. Must be scary to live in a boarding school with those giant birds hovering around outside!

I'm not all that wild about most of the Olympics, but there's not much else on TV of interest right now and it makes a good background accompaniment to my stitching!

A beautiful finish, Margaret! Less than a month before you join the emptynesters? I have to tell you, it is definitely an adjustment!

Another beautiful finish, Margaret! I really enjoy the olympics, too - winter or summer but don't get all that much stitching done because they actually require "watching"!
Glad the BC is doing better!

Pretty finish Margaret. I have not been watching the Olympics - just not my thing I guess - I feel somewhat unpatriotic saying that but I'm just not much of a sports enthusiast of any kind. Hope your DS continues to improve and you have a good week - hey what's next ? Mel

Beautiful work, as always:) I am with your boy on the Olympics - rather my book:) Here's to quick healing. And more exercise for Mia, though she is still a gorgeous kitty!

Congrats on your finish of DBS... it's such a sweet sampler and looks fabulous. I'm glad the girl child is enjoying her independence and love for cooking. Cooking isn't my thing... but I'm happy she's enjoying it. May the boy child continue to heal well.

Stunning finish Margaret! I love this darling sampler!! I think the brown roof is much better than a grey one. Hmmm, your daughter is cooking gourmet foods?! That's awesome! I hope she cooks a meal for all of you one day! I also hope your boychild heals quickly. Lots of Mia love helps I'm sure. I can't believe Mia is 11 pounds though. She looks so little! If she's 11 pounds, Titus has got to be close to 20 then!

I knew that would be a weekend project for you! Wow! I changed at least a couple of colors, too, as some of them just got absorbed by the fabric. That Mia is so sweet..

My goodness, Margaret, that was quick. It is a lovely sampler and congratulations on finishing it so quickly.

No I'm not a real big Olympics watcher either and surprising neither is my DH. You know what a big sport nut he is.

I love the colors in DBS. It is so wonderful seeing all of your finishes - beautiful!!
We have the Olympics on too - great for handwork ;-)

happy stitching...

What a wonderful sampler. I haven't seen this one before, and I love it. Don't you love those designs that just seem to stitch themselves?
I really hope your son continues to recover. Definitely before school starts! That is a bit of stress for you.
I haven't been watching the Olympics, but I want to start. Hopefully this week will provide some viewing time.
Can't wait to see what you work on next!

Hugs to you friend.

Oh Margaret, how I've missed seeing your beautiful stitching! I seem to be getting back to the computer. Hope the boy child is doing well. It is a whole new world when children leave the nest. Will be keeping good thoughts for you and yours!

Well, of course, Mia is just darling as usual.

Dames Boarding School is beautiful, you are such a prolific and beautiful stitcher.

Now as for the Olympics - I just cannot keep away from the TV. My stitching is suffering!!

Do hope boy child heals quickly.

Margaret, I'm always amazed at your stitching speed! DBS is really great and I do like the roof color just fine.

Enjoy the hoding pattern while it lasts. The beginning of August is already upon us and next thing you know, the summer will be gone.

I know this sounds silly, but I'm worried about poor Mia - what is she going to do when the boy child goes off to college? Will you get her a companion so she's not lonely? I know - silly question!

Love your finish! Love all of your finishes!

What is your poor kitty going to do when "her boy" goes away next month?!

I'm glad to hear he would rather read - that is a plus!

Gosh Margaret, that is truly beautiful! It has been awhile since I have seen a Dames Boarding School fini and it has renewed a need in me, to get the pattern already, and get it stitched! Just something about it, that is so awesome!!

You are getting closer to an empty nest, aren't you? Hope that the boy child heals quickly and surely!! Love Mia's pose...wondering maybe my Boo needs some of your tender-loving care, I can't seem to get her up to 7 pounds, she is so tiny! Course she eats all of the time!!!

Planning on watching some Olympics here in a few!

Kate said...

Congrats on the finish.

Beautiful finish!!
It must have felt like it just flew by, without all that grass to slow you down. :)
The roof color looks great, even if it might be a little different.

Mindi said...

Congratulations on the finish! I've been enjoying the olympics, so mom and I have been watching them every evening, but dad is getting bored with it. My stitching has slowed down since I had a small accident with my chefs knife, so not much of that going on.

Miss Pants said...

Very pretty! The color play of that one is very interesting. I hope your son heals up soon.

Your finish is lovely - and I always think colors are a bit off the chart photo. That's ok because I don't mind changing them. I imagine Mia has been a little less active since the BC has been. Be well.

Natalia said...

Oh Margaret, I LOVE it !!!!!! Did you have to show us this one???? Now I really want to start it :-)

And i think I have it in my stash :)

Another fantastic finish!! Love it!
Here's hoping your son is healing well. I can't even imagine how you are feeling about his leaving. I'm sure it is such a mix of emotions!
Hopefully Mia isn't eating extra because she senses the upcoming changes ~ you may have to get her some cat therapy! ;)

Love your finish, Margaret!! There's a building in town that reminds me so much of the building on the sampler and I am reminded that I want to stitch it every time I drive by it.

I am glad the kids are getting on well--I hope that the healing happens quickly for your DS! How neat that your daughter is doing a lot of cooking. I hope my kids will enjoy it instead of loathe it like I do. LOL

Great finish Margaret! Hope that the Boy Child is feeling better and recuperating. Hope his transition to college goes smoothly!
