Love those funky colors.....

Thanks for all the "warm" wishes last week.  Our heat was back on by noon and we warmed up quickly.  Which is a good thing -- I was a popsicle by that point!

Frances and her funky colors are going strong here.

Just one more page to go!  Yay!

Unfortunately, I stitched the big FE letters before I realized I was supposed to do them in eyelet stitch.  Sigh.  To rip or not to rip?

Don't you love Adam and Eve?  And the serpent?

I've also gotten a bit distracted this week, by more funky color.

I've never worked with such a chunky yarn or such huge needles before.  It's a new experience for sure!

We got a fresh dose of snow this morning, nothing too horrible, and no icy stuff involved, which is great.  First snow in a couple of weeks -- amazingly.  I hope it's the last snow too!  lol!  Here's Mia enjoying the new snow from her favorite perch for outdoor viewing.

I was hoping to get her in her typical cat crouch pose -- all you cat lovers know the pose I mean -- but she wasn't cooperating.  Was sitting instead.  Ah well.  She's still doing what she usually does -- looking for interesting squirrels and birds.  lol!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!  For those in the US, have a great President's Day!

Love your pictures and your stitching. I would be much happier ripping and doing the eyelet stitch.

Frances Eden is looking fabulous! I wish I were that ambitious.

Your stitches look great! I know if it were me, and I left the stitches alone, I wouild probably think about it every time I walked by!

Mia is such a cutie!

Frances is looking wonderful Margaret! My instinct is to leave the FE as they are, but then I'm not a big fan of doing eyelet stitch ;) I actually have a SD piece in my stash with the alphabet in ES and I'm going to have to gear myself up to do it LOL!

Nice progress on Frances Eden. I would probably leave the FE in rather than ripping it!

Cute picture of Mia:)))

Have a great week.

Wow, you're almost done with Frances - she's gorgeous! I'd go for the ripping, but then I'm a great fan of different stitches and texture.

I shouldn't have noticed your blog had a new post while looking at my own. lol! I have a problem to get along with those funky colors, but yours looks just perfect with them! As for your "FE" thing, I'd call its the personality of your sampler :) Hi Mia, you always look so cute and curious about anything you see.

The good thing about chunky yarn in big needles is that it knits up fast! I've not been knitting much lately but hope to start a new (hopefully quick) project this weekend.

I wouldn't rip...but that's just me. What do you want to do? Will it bug you if you don't? You just seem to be flying through this one.

Frances is lovely and I personally try to avoid ripping whenever possible, but it just depends what you are going to be happy with. Glad you got heat again. We, too had snow on the ground this morning.... Oh, I am so ready for Spring.

Frances looks great! I can't believe that you just have the one page left. You are a speed demon, gf! ;) I did the same thing--stitched the FE with regular XS and then realized belatedly that it was supposed to be eyelets. I left them in and it doesn't bother me, but then, that's me!

Mia looks so cute--looks like she's the neighborhood watch! LOL Duffy stands on a chair in the Study and sticks his head through the vertical blinds. I joke with the neighbors that the rest of the family tries to be a bit more subtle about our nosiness, LOL.

Frances Eden is looking great! I love that little sun...it's smile inducing. I love eyelet stitch so I would probably rip it. Besides I think it would bug me knowing but that's just me. Mia is such a cutie!

I wouldn't worry about frogging the letters to redo them in eyelet stitch. They look fine as they are. :)

Mia is so cute. I must add more kitty pics, but my camera is missing. Uh oh.

FE is looking great. You must be so happy stitching with such bright happy colours! I like the face on the sun!

More snow? Gosh it's a long winter in your part of the world. I'm sure Mia is happy she's inside!

Oh I am lovin' Frances Eden Margaret....those colors seem like they would be so much fun to stitch with. Your work is wonderful and I love watching your progress. Love the yarn too...that's got to be a quick knit! And, of course, I always love the pics of Mia. She's such a doll kitty!! Warmest of hugs.

I'm excited you are knitting Margaret - you didn't say what the yarn is?? lovely color is it for you or DD? FE is flying - I probably would leave the initials and not pull out but that's just lazy me! We don't have a holiday today but it is going pretty well - hope your new week is a good one.

Frances and her funky colors make a beautiful sampler! I love the two houses at the bottom.

Mia has grown into such a beautiful cat!

I don't believe in frogging. The piece looks so gorgeous, there is no point.

Interesting yarn. What are you making?

We're expecting snow and ice tonight.. no surprise really. The DC area has a history of Presidents' Day storms. Glad you have your heat back!

Hi Margaret, hope you are feeling better. Frances is looking lovely and I don't mind her funky colours at all.
With the FE problem, you know I would just follow your instincts. If it works for you keep it as it is. If you think it would annoy you change it, after all, it is your interpretation. I know this doesn't help you though. - Sandra.

Frances Eden is looking great! If I am trying to decide whether to rip or not. I usually walk away from it for a bit and then take another look. If it still bothers me then I rip, if not I continue along happily. :) Take care and happy stitching!

Love your Frances! I say don't rip...it's not a mistake, it's personalization!

The FE was supposed to be stitched in eyelet stitch??? Mine was stitched in regular cross stitch, if that's any comfort to you Margaret. Your sampler looks wonderful.

Littlebit said...

Margaret, your FE is just beautiful! For my anal self, I would have to remove the stitches and use the eyelets, but if you are okay with it, let it be...the piece is very busy and beautiful with or without the eyelet stitches.
Mia is such a big girl now!!
Glad you got your heat fixed!

Mia is such a sweetie - I love seeing her in your posts. Frances may rear her head from my stash one day, and I always thought I would substitute more muted colors. After seeing your photos, maybe not!

Wonderful progress this week, Margaret! I did the same thing last week with my WIP--stitched the apples in eyelet stitches rather than Rhodes. Yes, I ended up ripping them out... But, you decide--it looks just fine as you've stitched it :)

Hope the weather turns warmer soon so Mia can get outside and really see some squirrels and birds up close and personal!!

Love Frances, I really, really need to get her back out!

Wow--what an amazing bunch of progress you've made on FE! I would definitely not rip the letters--there are other samplers to stitch! I love those funky colors, and what are you knitting? It looks great!

Unknown said...

I love your stitch! I linked you on my blog... funny cause I was posting A&E... It's looking beautiful I can't wait til you finish and we can see it framed! lol

Susan said...

Well it seems most are telling you to rip - not me. The letters are in and more followed. I'd leave it and finish up! Congrats!

Happy Stitching!

I can't believe you are almost done with Frances! How in the world are you so fast? I need your secret. Mia is such a cutie - those cats, they sure don't pose the way we want them to, do they?!

TeresaB said...

Still loving how Frances looks! So much fun to look at. I don't worry that much about that kind of "mistake". I would think of it as your "nothing is ever perfect" mistake of the sampler, but that's just me.

So what are you knitting with that pretty chunky yarn?

Melanie said...

Woooooooooooooo! Look at that yarn! FUN. :)

Frances is Fabulous and now, I have "Play that Funky Music, White Boy" in my head and it won't go away. Not good.

Mia is adorable!

Ohhh, it looks great, it has grown a lot since the last time.

The cat looks so cool, it seems like she's giving thanks for being able to be inside, LOL, LOL.

Ruth said...

No ripping! Only you would ever know. And they look perfect as is. The eyelet is over-rated as a stitch anyway ;-)

Congrats on the return to heating and all the progress!

Margaret I love your sampler! So beautiful! I don't think I would rip out the stitched for the FE unless it's going to make you crazy. And hello to sweet Mia!

I love that little checkerboard snake with the red head! Frances is really coming along and looks so nice. Great colors for dreary days! Pretty yarn, too!

I love pictures of Mia - you just never know where she is going to turn up!
