Becoming an expert at Queen Stitches.....

Yes, I feel I'm becoming an expert at queen stitches.  And the Richmond Sampler is the reason why.  I will only show you the interesting parts of the sampler -- you won't see much progress from last week there.

Just know that that straight (or zig zag depending on how you look at it) border is full of queen stitches.  (The baskets are queen stitches too.)  And I've made the border meet all the way around and am working on the last side with the queen stitches.  So yes, I feel I'm becoming an expert at the darned things.  lol!  I'm looking forward to finishing the ones in that border at least.   Then I can approach the queen stitches in the baskets one basket at a time!

My better queen stitches are along the bottom and the other side.  lol!

I was sure that Mia wasn't going to let me take pictures of my sampler in peace, but she was a good girl.  This is what she was doing while I was snapping pics.  (She's a bit sleepy I think.)

Such a good girl!  And here she is in her favorite perch.

I wish I could leave the window open year round for her to enjoy.  She so loves looking outside and watching (and smelling) the world go by.

In other news, the boy child had a bit of a bug this weekend.  Not sure if it is just a cold or perhaps a bit more than that.  If it's just a cold, it's a nasty one.  He was definitely not feeling well Friday or Saturday.  Luckily Sunday he was doing better and was ready to go to school this morning.  I hope he's still feeling good now that he's at school!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  Have a great week, everyone!

Your samplers are incredible, and the more close ups of the Richmond Sampler that I see the more beautiful it becomes. Your stitching is fantastic. sincerely Carol M

You are an expert!!! Wow, I don't even know what those stitches are...I'll have to look that up and try one!
So nice to read the post about your husband's birthday, Happy Birthday a little belated to him!!! Such a sweet romantic story, just right!
Thanks for leaving me all the encouragement and lovely comments, I really do appreciate it, and I am feeling better. I do wish I could be home more instead of working so hard. Then we could stitch together!!!
Hugs,
Margaret B

Wow Margaret I am impressed, all those queen stitches in a border!! must be such a lot of work, but practice makes perfect and you are probably fast in stitching them by now:))
Mia looks so comfy on your quilt, I can hear her purring lol.
May the boy be better, nothing worse then a bug!

Amazing amount of queen stitches!! I had no idea. It is turning out beautiful, and I look forward to watching your progress on this for sure. Mary Beale sampler is called 'Her Sampler' in the pocketbook needlework series 1998. A little bird tells me you can still purchase it :)

Enjoy your day!

"Rachel Allen" reproduction sampler by the Scarlet Letter is filled with queen stitches, but nothing like your piece! You will be the Queen of queen stitches.

In all my 17 years as a stitcher, I've never managed to grasp the intricacies of the queen stitch, so you may imagine I'm in complete awe of your sampler. The colours are gorgeous too!

Mia is adorable! Does she play with your threads or, heaven forbid, your queen stitches?

Wow, Margaret, that sampler is chockfull of queen stitches, but they are so pretty. Making the border meet is a big accomplishment - at least in my book, since 9 times out of 10 mine don't meet.... sigh, such is live.

I love Mia's coloring - she sure is a pretty cat.

Your sampler is just beautiful and you've made great progress on the border.

I hope your son is feeling better soon!

Your Richmond Sampler is just so lovely, Margaret--I just may feel compelled to stitch this one myself since two out of my three sons went to the University of Richmond :)

Hi Margaret - oh my - this Richmond is coming out SO gorgeous but then what do you ever do that is not gorgeous? - I'm sorry I missed your lovely tribute post to your DH - I wish him a belated Happy Birthday and you two to have many more blissful happy years together. Melody

Wow, I'm so impressed Margaret! Now I am rethinking whether I could stitch that sampler! You are doing a fantastic job!

Mia is growing so quickly! She's very pretty!

Hope your boy feels better soon. I think the nasty bugs are making their rounds here too.

Wow so much work in those Queen stitches but I think it's worth it. Your stitching looks a million dollars. Just beautiful.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your son. I hate it when the kids are sick. Even the big kids.

Wow! Your stitching is always so beautiful! I'd love to sit with you and just watch your technique. The queen stitch may be a pain but you execute it beautifully and it really adds to the beauty of the sampler.

Your queen stitches are beautiful! I love 'em...they're a bit of work but definitely worth it in the end. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on this one.

OMG...I would say you are the "queen" of queen stitches. They are certainly not my favorite so kudos on such a great job. Can't wait to see your progress!

So pretty! Good thing that your DS made such a speedy recovery; he's got a busy season with school and activities right now! :)

Your sampler is such a beautiful project, but it must take some time with the queen stitches. I love the different flower designs in the border.

Mia is gorgeous! She looks so sweet.

What a task! You certainly have something to be proud of there. And to get the boarder to meet to boot is wonderful.
You are going to have another beautiful sampler when it is all done.
You are an amazing stitcher.

You definitely deserve to be the Queen :-). The Richmond Sampler is gorgeous. Love the pics of Mia too, glad she is letting you stitch, LOL.

That sure is a lot of queen stitches. It looks great Margaret! Yep, we are going to crown you the Queen of Queen stitches. : ) Great job so far. Mia is growing with each post. I bet you never imagined enjoying her so much.

Oh my goodness Margaret. I think that I would be absolutely pulling out all the hair in my head doing queen stitches. Woozers are there a lot of them. But I think that they look great. Love the look of them, just don't like doing them.

I hope that your son is feeling better soon. We've had something similar going around the house and my son seemed to get hit the hardest, but he's on the mend now.

And Mia is such a precious kitten (although she looks like she's grown a mile). Glad that she seems to be giving you some good stitching time now.

Karoline said...

You'll be able to Queen Stitch in your sleep after that lot. Congratulations on finishing the border.
Cute photo's of Mia
