September?!?!??!!!!

I know everyone is saying it, but OMG!  I can't believe it's September!  I heard the first school bus go by last week and just couldn't believe it.  Time is going too quickly!  Anyway, this is going to be a summary of what's been going on.  I don't even know what the last thing was that I talked about here!

First off, here is my finished Vanora sweater.  It's a pattern from the Brooklyn Tweed Ganseys collection, designed by Michele Wang.  I used Brooklyn Tweed Loft in the Fossil color.  And I love it!  What with my gauge and the size I knitted, it ended up being the perfect size!

Another thing that happened is that the boys got haircuts!

Their hair has grown since, but they are still looking good!

Various other things have happened, but probably the main one was going to Maine with my sister and her family and my father and stepmother.  I'll just show some pictures of our time there.

And no, the little tiny kitten isn't ours.  It's my sister's family's new kitten, Aladdin.  He's so cute!

The boy child ended up turning right around the following week after our vacation and going back up to Maine (albeit a different part of Maine) with his good friend.  Here they are before they took off.

Later on during August, the father type treated the two kids to a concert down in Coney Island.  I think they had a good time!

(The makeup on the girl child was done at the concert.  Very interesting!)

Needless to say, Mia is happiest when we are all home.

Too much to talk about....

One problem with not posting as often.  I have too much to talk about when I do post!

First, the various projects I've been working on.  I started and finished Plum Street Samplers -- Serial Bowl Collection, Sampler Lesson 2.  (I still have to finish finish it though...)

Then I found an old UFO and started working on it -- the Margaret Cottam Mystery Sampler by La D Da.

I've also been working on my mitered square blanket.  I'm 6 squares from finishing the third row.

We celebrated the girl child's birthday together in NYC.  It was a fun day with yummy food and a great bookstore discovery too.

And then we went to Maine!  The girl child only stayed for half the week, but despite that and lots of fog and clouds, we had a good time.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Maine!

Sorry that I wasn't commenting on blogs this past week, but I do have an excuse.  We were on vacation up in Maine!  But first, I will show you what I worked on while on vacation.  I started working on a hexie purse from a pattern by Brigitte Giblin.  It uses 1/2" hexies, and I'm using all Liberty Tana Lawn prints.  I'm loving this project!

This is the first side finished.  I've started the second side as well but didn't take a pic of it.

I also started the Boxy Sweater by Joji Locatelli.  I'm using Madeline Tosh Light in Worn Denim -- love this color yarn!

And here is my fussy cut star for the week using another Salt Water fabric (the octopus one) from Tula Pink.

But Maine!  It was a big family vacation this time around.  We went with my sister's family, and my father and stepmother.  The boy child was picked up by us and was along as well.  The girl child showed up on Wednesday evening.  I will let the pictures do most of the talking.

We all had a great time, although as always it was too short.  We stopped by my sister's on the way home since we had an extra passenger in our car to drop off.  The boy child took a family selfie before we left.

Mia was very happy to see us when we got home.  And happy to explore my bag when I was unpacking too.

And now all is well with Mia's world.
