2 finishes....

I finished my Hex on the Beach quilt top!

I also finished Betsy's House!

Not sure why the color is a bit weird in the grass there.  Anyway, it was a fun stitch, and just the perfect size to get going on making those little x's again.

The two friends have been having a good time.  Here's Mia taking a break while playing with her favorite toy with the boy child.

And of course Mia's favorite position (not!):

I'm so happy -- Wimbledon has started!!!!  Hooray!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Eventful week! -- loooooong post

First off, here is my Hex on the Beach quilt -- three more rows to go and the top will be done!

Our 30th anniversary was this past Tuesday.  Here is my gift to my sweetheart.

Sorry for the reflections.  Here's a closeup of the frame.

We celebrated our anniversary in a big way.  The day before, on Monday, we went into the city with the boy child in tow to meet the girl child and her boyfriend for dinner.

Aren't they cute?

Then we rushed by subway (down to just the four of us without the boyfriend) to the Barclay Center in Brooklyn for this!

Yes!  If you've been reading my blog for a long time, you'll know I'm a huge Beatles and Macca fan.  The father type and I got to see Paul McCartney in concert once in 2002 in Madison Square Garden when the kids were still little.  But hey, my kids were raised on Beatles and Wings and McCartney!  They had to see him in concert too, right?  So we did it.

We were in the nose bleed seats -- hard to tell from this picture, but boy, were those seats scary!  It felt like you could take a tumble right down to the floor!   Hard to get good pics of the concert too, but we could see pretty well!

It was such a good concert.  Paul isn't afraid to be nostalgic now.  Lots of Beatles and Wings hits, lots of singing along.  I had a huge grin plastered on my face for the whole concert.  And I think the kids and the father type enjoyed it as well.

Back at home, the father type and I had a yummy dinner on our own on our anniversary.  Crunch roll for me -- yum!

You can see the father type's yummy meal in the background.

Yesterday was Father's Day.  The girl child came home and we had a yummy dinner at a local steak house.

I'm not into steak, so I had the Ahi tuna steak with soba noodles and veggies with an Asian twist.  So good!

And a chocolate mousse cake for dessert.  Decadent!

The girl child had to leave nice and early this morning to head to work, but it was so nice to see her again so soon.  Twice in one week!

The boy child and Mia have been up to their antics again this week.

Mia loves her bean bag pouf, but isn't happy about being squished.

The boy child placed a sweatband on Mia's head.  And she didn't try to get it off.

This is what Mia looks like when she has had a piece of lox from my bagel and wants more.  Methinks she loves salmon.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

3/4 of the way there, TUSAL, and the kids

I'm 3/4 done with my Hex on the Beach quilt!!  A couple more weeks and I hope to be done!

I'm starting to dream about making those little x's again, but I'm determined to get this quilt done first.

It's going to be a different kind of TUSAL this time around.

You can see my ORTs from my quilt sewing in the ORT container my friend Sandy (no blog) made.  Along with the hexies that are left to be sewn together.  Just one more type of hexie to be basted too!

The girl child baked a cake for her boyfriend for his birthday.

Yes, she made the flower on top -- out of a beet.  It's a dark chocolate beet cake (there's beet in the cake too!).  Sounds like the birthday was a big success.

The boy child and his furry pal Mia have been up to various antics this week.

Mia being puzzled by this weird device.

Mia on boy child's back, looking a bit puzzled.

Mia in one of her least favorite positions.  I think it's one of the boy child's favorite ones.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.

Hairy hexes

I'm afraid people who are looking for cross stitch will be disappointed.  I seem to be in a hexie frame of mind these days.  I've got 23 rows out of 40 done so far.

Such a fun quilt!  My box of hexies used to look like this.

It has shrunk to this.

The white ones on the bottom left are my hexie papers that are used for English Paper Piecing.

The boy child finally got a haircut!  He was looking like a long haired musician (which is what he is after all) before.

Now he's looking very different.

Sorry, have to put this picture in.  Love it.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week.

Lucky hexies, framing

My Hex on the Beach is progressing nicely.

Seventeen rows out of 40 completed, and many many paper pieces removed as well.  It was becoming unwieldy with all that paper.

My framing was finally done so I made a trip to my LNS to pick it up.  One piece is a surprise for a certain someone, so I won't show that.  But here are the other two.

My And They Sinned by Examplars from the Heart.  Sorry for the reflection.

And my Jane Philpott by Shakespeare's Peddler.

I love this frame.

I have been very lucky this week.  First, I won a prize of a chart and a yard of linen from Scarlet Letter from Nicola's Scarlet Letter Year Blog.   I used my winnings to help with the cost of the Polly Phillip kit.

I've wanted this one forever.  Thanks so much, Nicola, Marsha, and Joann!

Then I won a huge fabric giveaway from Kathy Barrick.  I couldn't believe what Kathy sent!!

Look at all that fabric!!!  Wow!  Some pieces are huge with lots of yardage!  I especially love this toile.

Thank you so much, Kathy!

Finally, the lovely Krista of Just Stitching Along blog was so generous and sent me this.

She has just finished the SM 1678 sampler from European Reproductions, and she knew I was in love with her beautiful piece.  So she passed the chart along, but also included all the floss needed!!!  So generous!  Thank you so much, Krista!  Here's a link to her beautiful finish.  It's gorgeous, take a look!

I was busy taking a pic of my quilt this morning for the blog.  I turned around and here is what I found.

Is Mia trying to prevent me from working on my quilt today?  lol!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

late TUSAL and Hex madness

No stitching this week.  Since finishing Rachel, I've been working exclusively on my Hex on the Beach.  I'm a quarter of the way done!

10 rows complete!  The quilt is folded over on itself so as to fit in the picture better.  I can't wait to change colors.

I am late posting my TUSAL for May.  Here are my ORTs.

Lots of red from Rachel Howells.

The boy child and cat have been settling back nicely.  Boy child has been busy applying for summer jobs.  Cat has been showing her disapproval of boy child being gone so long.  But she's giving in gradually to the old ways.

Grudgingly cuddling.

Much closer.

Back to normal.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope you all have a great week!
