Poor neglected blog....

My blog posts seem to be getting more and more spaced out.  I have to say that Instagram is so much easier -- I can post there in no time at all.  But here I am writing a post.

I did finish my Cruden vest.  Hooray!

I'm very pleased with it, but it's way too hot to be thinking about wearing it anytime soon!

I have since started Vanora, by Michele Wang for Brooklyn Tweed.  I'm using Brooklyn Tweed Loft in the Fossil color.  A very enjoyable knit, just mindless enough but interesting enough to keep me going.

Did you see the yarn sitting in that lovely fabric basket in the picture?   Both the yarn (Jamieson and Smith) and the basket are from a dear friend for my birthday.  She gave me other enjoyable things as well.  What a pleasure!  Thanks again, friend!

Speaking of birthdays, I had two outings to celebrate -- and spread my birthday out over many days!  First, we drove up to Rhinebeck, home of the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival in the fall.  I had been there for the festival, but never gone to the town itself before.  Well, we went for a lovely late lunch, and then to a great bookstore and to this lovely place.

It's like an old fashioned five and dime, with all sorts of useful things!  And look at the sewing section -- just like old times!  Plus, this was attached at the back of the store.

Wow!  Both the Knitting Garage and A.L. Stickles Variety Store were a pleasure!

Then, the day after my birthday, the boy child and I went into the city to meet up with the girl child and eat lunch with the father type at his place of work.

Afterwards, the boy child and I wandered to a couple of places before dinner.

Both days were great fun.  And we managed to go on a gorgeous day before the worst of the heat and humidity struck here in the Northeast.

Mia doesn't approve of all the daytrips one bit.  She likes it best when everyone is home.  Poor baby.  But she has enjoyed a couple of fringe benefits from my birthday -- boxes and bags.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!  Stay cool!

Cruden

I'm loving how my Cruden vest is looking.  I'm hoping it blocks out well and makes a good fabric in the end.

I've since gotten to the armhole shaping which involves casting off for the armhole part but casting on steek stitches so I can continue to knit in the round.

See the vertical stripes above the hole?  Those are the steek stitches.

I'm using the color palette that Jamieson and Smith curated for their Spring/Summer KAL.  I love it so much!  I think I left out just one of the colors, the lighter, solid blue-green color.

I just thought I'd pop in, and now I'm popping out again.  Hope everyone's summer (or fall) is going well!  Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.

time keeps on slippin'.......

It seems everyone says stuff like this, but how did it get to be the middle (almost) of June?  I'm too old.  lol!

I finished my Right Angle sweater.  It's a design by Georgia Farrell from issue 16, the Spring issue of Pom Pom Quarterly.  I used my Shilasdair Luxury DK (with Camel) yarn that I bought from Loop London when we were in London in the spring.

Ugh.  I hate selfies.  Anyway, it came out to just the right length and width.  I modified the sleeves to be narrower than the pattern calls for -- just because I felt the sleeves as written just wouldn't look right on me.  I'm very pleased with how this sweater came out!

(And yes, for those wondering, that's my Houses and Village of Hawk Run Hollow by Kathy Barrick behind me.)

I've started the Cruden vest by Ysolda Teague.  Here is my swatch for my version.

I'm actually using a color scheme from the Spring/Summer KAL color palette that Jamieson and Smith has curated.  I love that blue-green and the colors from the KAL look great together.

I've since started the vest.  Of course, my gauge is too loose, despite my having knitted a gauge swatch.  Sigh.  Sometimes I wonder why gauge swatches are necessary if they don't always match what you end up knitting.

We ended up going into the city at some point since my last blog post, to see the girl child and hang out.  It was a bit warm, but we had a good time.

Still can't get used to the fact that my kids can drink.  lol!

We saw (or rather, the girl child and I saw, while the boys saw European paintings) the Manus x Machina exhibit at the Met -- so fantastic.  And then we settled down in the girl child's apartment and she plied us with cocktails that she made for us.

This past Saturday was our (the father type's and my) 33rd wedding anniversary.  We had a nice dinner out, just the two of us.

The boy child is happily enjoying the summer at home.  With Mia.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
