Here's my progress on the Hornbook Bestiary by Scarlet Letter (using kit materials, over one tent stitch on 35ct).
The blocks are much easier to deal with than the angel. lolol!
Here's my fussy cut star for the week using another Wiscassett fabric from Minick and Simpson.
And yes, I'm halfway through -- 26 stars out of 52! Here they all are so far.
This was just a random layout -- I can already see where there are too many lights together and too many darks. I'm planning right now on putting hexagons between the stars, not diamonds as shown here.
I've gotten more done on the boy child's sweater, but not enough to show it here. Too warm to knit much.
This past week has been spent as much as possible watching Wimbledon on the ole telly. I'm so enjoying it! Mia just sleeps through it. lol!
Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi. I hope everyone has a great week and a great 4th of July here in the US.

Wow! Fast progress on the Hornbook Margaret (especially with stars and knitting going on at the same time - lol). I do love all your stars. That will be one fantastic quilt. Tyg made it to the vet's despite protesting loudly...luckily no reactions to the shots he received. And, he's gotten over his feeling of being betrayed...back to chasing lightening bugs at night.
I love the Hornbook Beastiary! Looks great so far. I have this in my stash and am eager to start it but am hoping to finish a couple of my WIP's first. That quilt looks mighty impressive as well! Look forward to your progress on both.
I'm glad to see Mia is doing better. Now that I see the Fussy Stars laid out, even if it is a "rough draft," I can see why you're taking such time with them. The quilt is going to be amazing.
I don't know how you do so much! Everything you do is beautiful and amazing! I am in summer mode which means little needlework because I am focusing on gardening/yard work, playing tennis and entertaining guests (which is fun, but takes a fair amount of prep time!). I bought this chart years ago. Since I didn't buy the kit, what fabric would you recommend?
Great progress on your stitching. Oh my! That quilt is going to be AWESOME!
Oh my goodness, those stars are amazing to see all together. This is going to be one stunning quilt! Looks like you are zooming along on the hornbook. You go girl!
Your quilt blocks are looking awesome! Nice progress on the Hornbook!
It's nice to know Mia is doing much better.
Looks like your HB is moving along quickly enough. Can you stitch while watching tennis? The stars are looking bright :-)!
The hornbook is an impressive stitch Margaret. The stars look so good together, it's a lot of work but worth it when you see them coming together. Hello to Mia from Poppy and Rosa.
Your quilt is going to be gorgeous! Love the fabric in today's star!

Great progress on HB! It's cool to see all your fussy stars laid out. They are cool! So glad that Mia is feeling better. :)
Oh, I love seeing all those stars together, Margaret--each and every one is gorgeous!! I'll bet it's hard not to do more than one a week--how long does it take to make each one?
The ape block is so cute--I do love this sampler!! Glad the angel is finished and you're on to the fun (and less time-consuming!) blocks :)
Great progress on your samplerđź’•
The hornbook angel looks great. You can sit and admire her now that the hard work is done!
Love the stars all laid out like that. Sounds like a ton of hexagons to do. Way too daunting a task for me, but I'm sure you'll whip them out in no time!
Were you surprised at the Serena loss?
I always look forward to Monday mornings so I can see what amazing things you've done in the past week. You never disappoint.
Your hornbook is coming along nicely. There is lots of work to it, but knowing you, you'll have it done in no time at all.
I always find your fussy cut stars interested and am lookingforward to seeing it when it's completed.
Hope that you week is off to a good start.
Amazing progress on Hornbook Bestiary! And, the quilt is going to be one beautiful quilt!!
That quilt is gorgeous. My MIL quilts - I should show it to her. Great progress on the Hornbook. Your stitching still amazes me on such small count fabric.

I'm so behind on checking out my favorite blogs, and was so surprised to see you working on the Bestiary Hornbook! Already going gangbusters! Sweet Mia :)
Your needles are smoking with that angel
Fussy cut quilt is going to be awesome
That fussy cut star quilt will be amazing! I had no idea where you were going with all those stars each week, LOL! The SL stitch looks great too. Tennis has been great, not sure who I am rooting for! Have a great week. Enjoy the 4th!
As I was looking at your stars I tried picking just one as a favorite. I just couldn't do it! There are too many that I like so much!
You're making great progress on the Hornbook project!
Wow your sampler is looking so lovely and the quilt is going to be super sweet too

Both the Hornbook and the stars look great - an impressive display, seeing them all together. Enjoy the tennis.
I love the Hornbook you are stitching. It must be such fun watching each square come to life !! Your star quilt will be amazing…I love every one of them. It's interesting how your eye moves around the quilt looking at each star. Too much fun. Hugs to you and sweet Mia. Hope you enjoy the holiday week !!
The stars are lovely put together and being halfway is great. Love Mia as always and your stitching.
The hornbook is moving along quickly. Wow I am in love with the stars, seeing them all together is amazing. I'm sure the placement will, come to you and I love the Hexie idea. Can't wait to see that project come along and yes it's way too hot for heavy knitting but I have just started camp loopy 2. So knit I must!!! Hope you have a happy 4th and enjoy the tennis, Mel
Wow! Love the progress pic of the stars. Man, that is going to be fabulous when it's done. Very distinctive. Can't wait to see future stars pop up. :)

Love Annette
Your stars are so pretty! Are you going to make a quilt, or a wallhanging? I love how the fabrics come together to make a design in the center.
It all look so lovely. I bet the tent stitching helps it go by quickly.
Wow, how fast you are on the Hornbook Bestiary. IT's looking great so far.
All these stars are looking so great. I love how you displayed them for the picture. Meanwhile I was on the site of the Fussy Star designer (?) and saw such wonderful star displays. Great! It will be so interesting to see what you will be doing with your stars.
Have a great 4th of July holiday today.
Margaret - How wonderful to see all the Fussy Stars together. All the blues...drool! Ironically on my maternal side, my Jacob Waning first shows up in America in none other than Wiscasset, Maine! Does the tent stitch stitch up fairly quickly? I'd think it would. Happy 4th to you, your family, and Miss Mia.
I love the sampler you are working on. Honestly my draw dropped when I read you are stitching on 35 count over one!!! You rock!
Your stars are wonderful! Now I wish I would have joined you. What a gorgeous quilt it will be.
I hope your holiday was great! Hugs.
