I've been working on GigiR's Red Deer Sampler a lot recently. Finished the green of the border (which met up -- yay!), finished the flowers on 2 sides as well. And here is my progress on the interior that I started.
I'm loving the colors!
Here's my fussy cut star for the week, using a Vicksburg fabric from Judie Rothermel.
We've managed to get the whole family together for part of the long weekend. After a lot of fuss and bother trying to get to the Bronx Zoo and failing (traffic and full parking lots defeated us), we went to Peekskill for some coffee, books, and dinner.
As soon as we left, both kids were off with friends and activities for the evening. The father type and I are hoping for a relaxing day with the kids tomorrow. We shall see!
Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi. French Open started yesterday!! Happy Memorial Day to everyone in the states. May we always remember.

I'm not surprised you're loving the colours, they're so vibrant and appealing. Looks like a fun day out with your family Margaret. Mia is such a little comic the way she poses for the camera.
The colors are fabulous in the Red Deer Sampler.
Don't you just love when your border meets up :)
Glad you and the family were able to spend some time together.
Have a fantastic day!
So glad you got to spend time with the whole family! Your Red Deer is beautiful. The colors are so happy aren't they? I could never, ever get bored stitching on this one!! Hugs to you and sweet Mia and had a wonderful Memorial Day !
Wonderful pictures as always! The colors in the sampler are beautiful, and I can't wait to see what you're going to do with all these stars. Happy Memorial Day!
As soon as I spied that red clay on the t.v. this morning I thought of you! Enjoy! Beautiful colors in your new stitching project!
Have a great day,
Robyn
That's a lovely, bright sampler from Gigi! Hope your day works out to have fun family time.
Another gorgeous sampler Margaret - such beautiful colours.
How many stars do you have now and how many left to do?
Cute picture of Mia on the snuggly quilt.
Margaret
Beautiful color in the red deer sampler!
Hello, Mia! She looks so sweet there in the photos. I do love that quilt that she's laying on - the colours are fab.
Love the Red Deer Sampler! Of course you knew I would love it. Are you using the recommended floss? I hope to be able to stitch her next month! I will be watching your progress.
Lovely outing with your family!
Wow it's so beautiful
Big hugs x
Mia is so cute on that quilt and worn out by her interneting! Your sampler is so lovely! Blessings to you all!
That's a lot of great progress on the sampler. Love the bright colors. Nice to have a good family get together. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Oh boy, do I agree ...always remember!
Glad you had some "entire family time". Today is my husband's birthday and we are having dinner together before he leaves for work tonight.
I love the flowers on the border of Red Deer...beautiful.
Your stars are sure coming along nicely - do you applique them on a quilt? And speaking of quilts, I am so anxious to see your Tula.
Hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend!
Another beautiful star Margaret and love the Red deer Sampler - the colors are just perfect! Cute Mia and sounds like/looks like you had a fun day out with everyone.
So glad you all got together. Hope you have an enjoyable evening. It is hot here!
I come to your blog to feed my soul on all the colors and I am never disappointed! So pretty!
Isn't strange how when our kids our little, taking them to restaurants can be a bit of a challenge and then when they're older, getting them all in one place at one time is a new type of challenge. Lol
Enjoy your holiday! :)
RED DEER SAMPLER YESSSSS!! I have that sampler and was going to start it after Sarah Chapple, but I need to focus on getting her finished. I actually am going to lend it to Melissa to start stitching!! Your progress is beautiful....and so fast! Love the fussy cut! It'll be neat to see them all together! Oooh, bookstores...favourite places to haunt and that one looks like a goody. Love the Mia photos! Give her a tickle for me! Hugs!
Yeahhhh on the border meeting :) love that book shop ... well done on the fussy cut .... one day you will have to show me :) and awwww Mia love your poses :) love mouse xxxxx
Lovely stitching - the colors are wonderful! And that bookstore looks like a dream. It's a shame it is so far away. :) Love that little Mia - she is so photogenic. Have fun watching the French Open.
Beautiful stitching, Margaret!! Love all the colors and the flowers in the border!
Looks like you are having a relaxing weekend! Glad we are back in tennis season, I am on a staycation this week so I hope to see some! Enjoy the week!
Beautiful stitching--the colors in this are amazing! Love the fussy cut star fabric, too.
"The whole family together" time is the best, for sure. And, it always seems to take a lot of organizing to get it to happen with our kids having lives of their own. : ) That bookstore you visited looks like a place I could spend a lot of time in!
That sampler has a wonderful border - nice going.
When the border meets it is always wonderful! Sorry things didn't work out for the zoo and am glad your family could be together
Your fussy cut star is very pretty this week. Glad you had a nice time with your family.
Red Deer sampler looks fabulous Margaret! I love the colors too. What fabric are you using?
Glad you had some family time. The bookstore looks like a wonderful haven!
Have a good week:-)
Oh, the colors in that sampler are fabulous, Margaret!! What a lovely WIP that must be to work on :)
So glad you all got to spend the weekend together--it gets harder and harder to have those family times, doesn't it?
Such pretty colors in Red Deer. And you found the best kind of bookstore - a quirky one! Glad you are enjoying time with your kids. Mia looks to be in good spirits too.
Lovely colour on the GigiR's Red Deer Sampler. It has a nice border, not so boring!
Great star also.
Have a nice week. Evelyne
Red Deer is so beautiful!
love Annette
The Red Deer Sampler has so much going on I overlooked how lovely the border is. Another one to add to my growing wish list.
Love the new star! They are all so amazing and I really can't wait to see how they go together!
Sampler is coming along nicely. Looks like the weekend turned out great even if you couldn't get to the zoo. Cannot wait to see what you will do with the fussy cut stars.
I have to agree, the colors in the sampler are really pretty. Looks like a fun time with the fam in spite of a change in plans.
Hurray for your border, that sure must feel good. I admire all the samplers you've made, but I really LOVE all the Mia pictures, every time I see her it makes me smile. Greetings, Betty.
Oh my!!!
I seen this design on Facebook a few months ago and fell in love
Your stitching is gonna make me kit it,
Naughty girl, lol
Your new sampler start is beautiful! I love the flower border.
That's too bad about the zoo. We loved going there last fall and it wasn't busy but it was during the week when school was still in, etc. If the schools are out already up there right now, yikes. Must be CRAZZZZZZY.
Sounds like a nice day regardless though. :)
Your Red deer sampler is looking gorgeous, great progress
That bookshop looks my kind of place :) love losing an hour or several in second hand bookshops
Love the bright colors in the first sampler!
Hey Margaret! Lovely progress on the Red Deer sampler, it has such great colors.
Glad you guys had some fun! Even though you didn't get to the zoo!
Looking forward to seeing what you were up to this past week tomorrow :)
gorgeous sampler love those colors
Great that you had such a nice family day together. That coffee house is right after my taste, I think I would spend hours there reading and sipping on my coffee. I have never seen anything similar around here but I live in a rural region and don't get to a big city very often. Maybe I'd find such a coffee house there, too.
