Does anyone have any suggestions on what the Q bird is? I would say Quail, but it doesn't have the top knot thingie.
ETA: The H is for hart, a kind of deer. :D
And here is my fussy cut Friday star, again using the same piece of Tula Pink Saltwater fabric as last time. And again, I stole my fussy cutting from Eef's Needle. Evelyne has the most beautiful fussy cut stars. Thank you for sharing your ideas with me, Evelyne!
I'm going to be starting on the 3rd skein of yarn for the boy child's sweater -- and I'm over 12" along!
I also had to start a new project -- I've been missing knitting color work. I've been trolling around and drooling over various fair isle and color work patterns, including this one. And now I've started it!
Mia claimed a Junior's Cheesecake bag that had been used during our trip to Cincinnati last Sunday. And she's been enjoying it all week. Under supervision, of course.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hi. I hope everyone has a great week!
Your work is beautiful! I would think quail for the bird also--maybe not enough room for the top knot.
ReplyDeleteMiss Mia and her bags--always so amusing to me what cats claim, Callie Mae is infatuated with a shoe string!
It's a bald quail. Love your knitting project...and your latest star. Mia is a hoot!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Robyn
Look at those teeny tiny stitches!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see your fair isle knitting. That's a favorite pattern of mine to find in sweaters and scarves.
Ha-ha! Mia is just too cute. Our cats have always loved grocery bags...now Tyg claims the re-usable ones we have...sometimes prior to them being emptied of groceries. I think he's looking for treats. Your hornbook is amazing Margaret! I, too, think it must be a quail minus the top-knot. And your fussy star is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl
ReplyDeleteYou are one busy bee, makes me feel lazy, lol
You are so inspiring, I love reading your blog
I would say quail too,
Take care
Who knew that quails could be bald?
ReplyDeleteGood progress all around. The new fair isle piece looks interesting.
Ya think Mia can smell the hint of cheesecake?
:) Mia is so sweet...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching...I love your stitching so much..
Sweet hugs xx
surely it's a quail and they just didn't put the head thingy on. OK - you're killing me with the Katie Davies design and the J&S wool - (sigh) It looks very warm and 'wooley' and I LOVE how your Shelter sweater is coming along. The fussy star this week is beautiful. I spent a lot of time looking at Lucy Boston quilts and many of them are carefully fussy cut and pieced. Very entertaining. Enjoy your week. mel
ReplyDeleteAll projects are lovely, Mia is adorable!
ReplyDeleteAll your work is wonderful of course but I couldn't help but love seeing Mia in the bag! She's looking like she's lamenting the fact that she got left behind! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think the female quail has a top knot.....
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is beautiful as always, Margaret!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is with cats and bags, but ours love them too! I can't get over how much Mia and Simon look alike, right down to the same eye color.... too funny.
Not all species of quail have top knots. California quails do, while the bobwhite of the American South, which has one of the prettiest calls you'll ever hear, do not. My guess is your Hornbook quail is one of the species that just doesn't have a top knot.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it is a quail after all.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an awesome blanket.
There are many varieties of quail, and being from southern US, I have never seen one with the top notch! Think her bag still smells of cheesecake? I may join her if it does :-).
ReplyDeleteI think its a female quail as I think only the males have top knots. Beautiful stitching whatever it is. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful the hornbook. I see that you used the Millenium stand!?
ReplyDeleteI thought you did always hand stitching.
I love the colour of you Tula Star.
Mia is adorable.
Have a nice week,
Evelyne
Knitting, quilting, stitching...wow! I'll bet Q is a quail even without the quill. Looks like Mia is having good fun. What is it about cats and plastic anyway?
ReplyDeleteStitching, quilting, knitting, kitty hugging … you're my kind of gal Margaret !!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that the Q is for Quail is correct, Margaret... Can't imagine what else it could be. You're really flying through this wonderful piece :) And another great looking star!
ReplyDeleteThe Bestiary is coming along so well, it's an amazing design. Mia made me smile, cats do like a bag. The wool shop I visit in Edinburgh and Stirling have literally just started to stock Jamieson and Smith Heritage Wool I saw some of the colours on Saturday and they should have them all in stock by this weekend. I love your choice of pattern to knit - it will look amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh that Mia! LOL! Love the stitching but sure don't know what the q bird is!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a silly furbaby. Wonderful progress on the hornbook. Your knitting is gorgeous Margaret.
ReplyDeleteLinda
The stitching is beautiful. Love the teeny tiny stitches. I would think quail too. The sweater is a beautiful color!! Mia says.. there's no cheesecake in this bag, I looked and looked! LOL Love it!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Rams and Yowes blanket! It is something I've not seen before. Can definitely see why you had to knit it!
ReplyDeleteYour Hornbook looks amazing, Margaret! Great progress on the BC's sweater and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your new start.mia is precious!
ReplyDeleteLoving the hornbook progress, you seem to be cracking on at a speedy pace with it, it's looking amazing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful progress on Hornbook and your knitting.
ReplyDeleteMia is too cute:) love Annette
Nice stitching progress! I love the name of the fabric line and the color of your newest star! It would be so easy for me to become a fabric hoarder. :) And if I could knit I would definitely knit that blanket ~ cute! Sweet Mia ~ she always brings a smile to my face. Cats do love bags. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crafts
ReplyDeleteI would guess the Q is for quail as well, but I'm confused about the "H". Isn't that a deer? Reindeer? Stag? Help!!!
