Empty Nest Again....

Here's my progress on Dorothy Walpole.


The flowers are so pretty!  But I don't feel the love for the satin stitch ones.  lol!


I also worked on my Wearwithall Stole.  I'm two rows from starting that luscious purple color!


We have an empty nest again.  This past weekend, we took the boy child back to college.  We helped him set up his new apartment a bit.  And then we spent the weekend with my sister and her family.  Saw some sights in Boston too.  Then dropped the boy child off and drove home.  Boy child starts classes today.  I'm hoping for a great year for him with new experiences and lots of learning and fun.







Mia knew something was up as soon as the boy child started packing on Thursday.  I'm sure she knew he was leaving again.  When the father type and I got home from Boston, she was happy to see us, but she seemed sad too.  She knows.  We miss our boy.

    I love the satin stitch flowers myself. Different stitches always make a piece so interesting.

    It must be hard to adjust when your house is empty and you aren't used to it. I've lived alone for so long that every little noise annoys me!

    Gorgeous stitching! Love the pics of Boston...I can see Marriott Long Wharf in one of them. We had a fun time staying there a few years ago. Hope your young man has a wonderful year!

    Great progress on the stole and Dorothy. Is the stole the same pattern Kwilty Kim is doing? Looks like a nice apartment! Pretty sights, too. I'm guessing Mia will not be sad for as long this time.

    Both Dorothy and the Stole are fabulous!!! I may need to get the pattern and yarn for the stole (but I have yet to finish the sweater for our son - lol). We are a full nest again for another week or two -- enjoying every moment. Best wishes to your son for the year!!

    Dorothy is so pretty. I love the flowers - so bright. I am tempted to just stitch that part of the design!

    It's sad that your boy is off to school again but at least he is not too far. Mia will be on my lap a lot more now!

    Dorothy keeps getting more and more beautiful! The satin stitched daisy flowers are so pretty and well worth the agony!! Sending your son the best of luck with his studies. Mia will need lots of snuggles since she's been accustomed to it all summer! Oh and the scarf is gorgeous! Can't wait for the purple part too :D

    Dorothy is such a pretty piece. Summer really is coming to an end - as soon as schools and colleges start to go back I feel as though it's truly over.

    I think the satin flowers look great! It's such a striking sampler. Good luck to the boy/young man. A great city to learn in. I am actually on the Cape and have been in Mass since Friday visiting my brother.

    Your Dorothy is coming right along. She's beautiful. I have to agree about satin stitches on linen...I'm not a fan either !! The words on AAWFAA just about did me in. Your stole is coming along nicely too....it's such a beautiful piece. So far I've been able to show some restraint and have not ordered it.

    Give Mia a sweet hug from the cat lady in Florida. I knew she would know when your son was getting ready to leave. She seems to be handling it quite well.

    How fun to play tourist in Boston! Hopefully the BC transitioned into classes easily. Dorothy is looking so pretty! I love her! And the satin stitched flowers are lovely and a nice change in texture. :)

    Aren't cats funny how they miss their people? My mom tells a story about when my sister and I were both away at college for the first time; she said our cat went into my sister's room and sat for a while, then she went in mine and sat for a while, just wondering where we were.

    Funny how we never think about our pets having empty nest syndrome. I think my dog would be quite happy to be without a toddler for a while. :D

    Those flowers are just beautiful! And I'm thinking more and more about that stole - it's so pretty! Wow, year number two - before you know it he will be graduating. :) Time goes so quickly. Beautiful pictures of Boston! And of course I love my Mia fix for the week. :)

    You're so lucky to be able to visit Boston every time you take your son back to college, Margaret--one of my most favorite cities!! I'll bet Mia is in mourning for a while--you'll have to give her some extra TLC :)

    Hi Margaret, What wonderful progress on your projects. Love those flowers in Dorothy Walpole! and the knitting looks gorgeous too! Loved all your beautiful photos of Boston, I visited many of those same spots when I was there in June. It is such a nice city. I hope Mia gets adjusted soon. What a great US Open this year! I was hoping for Delpotro or Wawrinka for the finals but c'est la vie! I was unfortunately called to work for overtime Monday evening so I missed the final! Waaaah! Looks like it was a good one.     I just love seeing your Dorothy Walpole as she is in my to do pile here. I love this one and even the satin stitch flowers are just really pretty. Not sure I like doing satin stitch either but it adds. Love seeing your little kitty too. She is so sweet!!! :)

    I like the satin flowers. I know how fussy stitching satin stitch can be though. It's hard to get it to lay flat.

    Poor Mia!

    I was hoping to visit Boston this week but the weather hasn't been cooperative for a walking tour of the city. *cough* Too humid for me, thanks.
