See Jane run....

Ok, maybe Jane isn't running.  lol!  But she sure is pretty!

Jane Pattison by Shakespeare's Peddler
32ct vintage Navy Bean
Simply Wool fibers from the Gentle Art

It's very strange for me to be stitching on 32ct fabric, but I wanted to try the Simply Wool fibers.  It's fun so far.  But I have to say I'm missing stitching on 40ct.

Jane is worth it though, don't you think?

And here is the next part of the Toy Chest Etui.  This is the primer pincushion, I think.  (I'm having a senior moment.)

I think Loraine and I are both struggling to enjoy stitching this one for our SAL.  Which is too bad -- it really is a wonderful piece.

Mia has been enjoying the lovely spring-like weather we've been having.

Here she is waving to the boy child out the window.

Such cuties!

And here are the two children relaxing and watching TV.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead!

  5. I love starting my Monday mornings off with your blog update. Jane looks wonderful. I plan on starting Jane at my Guild's Spring Retreat in May. The lower count linen will be perfect for stitching under less than ideal stitching conditions.
Your Toy Etui pieces looks fabulous... but I'm sorry to hear you don't enjoy stitching it as much as you'd like... that's a bummer.
The boy child's new haircut looks great. Miss Mia isn't looking too ladylike in that position! lol :-)

  7. Jane is looking wonderful Margaret. It's so nice to see a piece you haven't seen stitched yet and also the thoughts on the fibers. Glad that you and Loraine are still plugging away on the Toy Chest - you may be gnashing your teeth now, but you'll be so happy when it's finished.

Great pics of son and kitty. Isn't this crazy weather wonderful. Never thought I'd see 80 when it's still winter, but that's what they're predicting for today.

  8. Love Jane Pattison! I really want to try stitching with those wools! It seems to give it such a rich look.

What makes you miss stitching on 40 count? I wonder if it is because the design looks smaller and more sweet? I am (so far) unable to stitch on 40 count with any ease or regularity.

Love the kitty shots with your son!

    Have a great week!!

  9. Your sampler is lovely!! How is stitching with Wool different than floss?? I have never tried it before. I am anxious to watch your Toy Chest Etui progress.

  10. Margaret --
Jane is looking so beautiful. I have her all kitted up with the wools too and can't wait to get started on her, especially after seeing your progress!

Enjoy this spring like weather -- we are having it too and it's so nice to have the windows open and letting in the fresh air!

  11. Jane is another beauty. I still don't understand the widespread appeal of the higher counts! I make so many errors over two (that end up over one or three), and I'm thinking a 36 or 40 count would have even more errors. The finished piece is absolutely nicer, but will I end up burning it before then??? Regardless, Jane looks stunning on the 32!

  12. Jane is gorgeous. It must feel very different to be stitching with the wools.
Love the Toy Chest project which is one I've never heard of or seen before so can't wait to see more.

  15. Great stitching on Jane, is stitching quicker on 32ct with wool? The toy chest pieces look fabulous!
Oh that Mia, she knows how to charm:))
    Have a great week!

  18. Oh wow, Jane is such a beauty, Margaret! I love the colors and not much beats a pretty strawberry border in my mind (and some nice birds are a welcome bonus always,... LOL)!
It is always fun to see what Mia and the Boy-child are up to! They are so sweet together.
    Happy Spring!!!

  20. Jane is beautiful. I've always wanted to try the wool but you know...I have so much cotton and silk... I just need to finish up a few more pieces !!! (LOL) The Toy Chest piece is lovely. Those Betsy Morgan pieces are something else aren't they? Beautiful designs and beautiful opportunity to stitch so many fun stitches!! Mia and your son are way too CUTE !! Love the pics !! Have a great week..

  21. Jane is lovely. Does the wool, because of the thickness of the fiber, require a 32 count linen in order to look good? I'm sure the weave feels big to you but it really is pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jane does look very pretty. How thin are the wool strands? Reminds me of Persian wools and needlepoint, but doesn't look like it!

  23. I adore the colours in Jane particularly the pink. I would love to stitch the toy chest but cannot find the chart for sale, do you have to do a class with the designer?

I think that your boy child is looking very grown up of late, they will always be our babies though.

  24. Jane is looking gorgeous! After seeing her colors, though, I'm thinking I may have to rethink using a warmer fabric, because of that goldish color thread. I was kind of thinking an examplar or luna might work, but maybe not.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think this is the first project I have seen with the wool threads. I really like them (and Jane too!)

Of course pink is my favorite color. Thanks for sharing!

  26. Lovely stitching and cute photos of your two boys!

  27. And a happy day to you! Jane is lovely -- and I'm absolutely over the moon about the birds in her fountain! They are perfect.

Good luck with your toy chest -- may the struggles ease with the onset of spring.

  28. Oh Margaret...Jane is gorgeous! I love the border! The little red and white checkered flowers are so sweet.
    Have a great week,

  30. Hi Margaret, your Jane is looking very beautiful :-)
Your boy child and Mia are so cute together :-)

  31. Ooooo, you started Jane! I've been thinking about her a lot since she was released! So pretty! Is there a lot of over 1 that you need to use 32 count? Wouldn't 1 strand on 40ct work? I was wondering that since I didn't have the chart yet.

Good for you with sticking with the toy chest project!

  32. Another fabulous Jane to stitch!! I'm really wanting to get this design and hopefully start stitching it next year (I'm thinking my current Jane will take awhile!!) Isn't she so pretty with all those lovely colours?!!! Your little SAL pieces are darling too!! Oh that Mia!! So cute!!!

  33. I look forward to seeing the Toy Chest finished. Keep going. Jane looks lovely:) And Mia is a very, very patient cat.

  34. Jane looks fabulous!!!! And your boy and his cat look so cozy! :)

  35. Jane is so pretty! I love the border. I had the same question as Terri - does the thickness of the fibers make stitching it on 32 necessary? The Toy Chest piece is lovely!
Cats do love to survey the world from an open window. :)

  36. Dear Margaret...Jane is looking so lovely :)
    Have a great week!

  37. WOW you are flying on Jane - funny 'cause I didn't know you are stitching Jane when I mentioned to you that she had flown into my stash pile w/o another thought of a new start. I'm glad you gave the wool threads a try - I actually thought the 32ct with the wools would have been a pleasant break from the norm. She is relly looking great - hope you have a good week! mel

  38. Jane looks great! How are the wool fibers? Do you like them? Mia and the boy child are as cute as ever.

  39. I always look forward to visiting your blog on Monday to see what great things you have done in the past week. I'm always amazed at what you accomplish.

Jane looks wonderful. How much fun that she stitched some of her flowers outside her border.

  41. I'm just loving Jane's colors. I have yet to use the Sampler wool and have only ever used wool for needlepoint, so I'll definitely have to try them one day! Sometimes my eyeballs really miss 30/32ct but 36 or higher just looks so dainty and wonderful to me!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Margaret, you always have such wonderful pieces to share! I always enjoy your blog. Your Jane Pattison is beautiful. I've never stitched with wools but might have to consider sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Great stitches Margaret! And love the pics of Mia and your son! You gotta love Mia's tv watching position!

  44. Jane looks beautiful running or not and the little primer piece look interesting so I will keep watch for that finish. CJ in OK ;-)

  45. Jane really is beautiful so far! I just love 40 ct fabric too and I know I would miss using it too!! I haven't seen the wool threads. It must be a bit like using yarn only thinner.

  46. Awww, such a sweet picture of Mia on her favourite lap!

    Jane is looking lovely!

  50. Oh gosh, Jane is just gorgeous!! I got the 36 ct, fabric for her cause after seeing the wool threads, thought they weren't for me, so planned on stitching them with the overdyed cottons. Now I'm wondering (along with a bunch of others apparently, lol) if you need the 32 count to use the wools...because after seeing your WIP with the wool, I'm rethinking this whole thing, but already got the fabric in 36c!! OMG, so confused, lol! Do you think the wools would work with 36 ct?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Pretty, pretty. Jane certainly is pretty. All those pinks and reds :) I'm having fun watching the progress of Toy Chest Etui.

    Hugs,
    Veronica.

  54. Jane sure is lovely, Margaret! I didn't realize you always use 40 ct. I've only stitched on it once, but really enjoyed it. Perhaps I should pick some up in different colors and experiment a bit more...

It's so wonderful how your son and Mia have bonded :)

  55. Love your Jane Pattison, I think that green border is so neat. I might have to add her to my list!

  57. I'm hoping you will give all of us your opinion of these threads. I have used wools on canvas, but wonder how they are on linen. If these would work on 40 count, would you recommend them? I realize that this isn't possible, so am just trying to see if you really like using them.

  58. Jane sure is pretty indeed! Enjoy your spell of warmer weather. It's been milder here than it usually would be too.

Loving the Toy Chest pieces too, lovely!
