Fun times -- and freak out!

My fair isle scarf is getting longer.  I'm a bit over halfway through, assuming I don't run out of yarn.


It's folded in 3 in this picture.

I added another star to the very slowly growing quilt as well.


Sunday (yesterday) the father type and I headed into NYC and met the girl child at MOMA to see the Matisse Cutouts exhibit.  Google very kindly got a perk for its employees -- we got to bypass the timed exhibit lines and go straight in with members.  It was a lovely exhibit.  And after, we saw some famous pieces by artists like Rousseau, Matisse, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Klimt, Gaugin, Van Gogh,  etc.  Just amazing!  I mean seriously.  I saw Starry Night in person!

And we did a bit of wandering and eating too.

Chocolate Mousse cake -- so good!

On Saturday, the father type and I made Chicken Zoodle Lo Mein from Skinnytaste.


A certain someone was interested in our meal.




My apologies to anyone who is horrified by a fur baby licking a human's plate.  :D

    Looks like a fun trip! And who would have thought, I got that cookbook too! It has some great recipes in it and I am going to have to give that one a try!! Hope all goes well with the storm. Laura

    Margaret, your scarf is going to be soooooooooooo long! I love it -- very cheerful. Sounds like a fabulous day in NYC. Too funny about Mia. Tyg loves butter -- we have to make sure it is always covered or there will be marks where he has licked it - lol. Stay warm and here's hoping you don't get too much snow...we are forecast to get 10-12", much less than NYC or Boston.

    scarf looking good ... and wow sounds like you had a fab time at the visit ... cake looks scrummy as does your other munchies :)

    The scarf is amazing, and it sounds like you had a wonderful day with DD!! Stay warm and safe during the weather coming your way--I would definitely be freaking out about it! Of course, down here, most of us Southerners freak out over an inch of snow!! lol

    I'm totally freaking out with you! Starry night is one of my daughters favorite paintings. You are so lucky to get to see so many wonderful works of art! Ahhh some day!
    Your scarf is looking amazing. I love the intricate pattern and the colors!

    sounds like you had a great weekend Margaret. Your trip to the city to see the exhibit and have a nice meal was awesome. Love seeing your scarf again - it's really moving along.     Beautiful scarf and quilt and oh the art exhibit--I think I would seriously freak seeing the real starry night

    How lucky you were able to go to the exhibit and without standing in line! What a treat too to have that great dinner afterwards!

    That "lo mein" looks great and it makes me want to get that spiral slicer thing. Did you get one?

    Love the scarf. I can imagine it takes a lot of concentration to get that pattern coming out! The quilt is coming along nicely!

    What a great day in the city. I saw the Matisse cut-outs a long time ago when they were at the National Gallery of Art in DC. I'm a sucker for all the impressionists anyway.

    Margaret, visiting MOMA is on my bucket list!! How wonderful you were given VIP treatment on your visit. Starry Night - really?!

    While visiting with my sisters I just had to show Teresa your knitting and quilting, so we made a stop by your blog. Not only did she love your fair isle work, she was stunned by all the lovely samplers.

    Not to worry, our Mo thinks he's being sneaky with the paw swipe on the dinner plates too. I always remind him that cats don't eat vegetables, but he never believes me anyway....

    Hi, Margaret, Your scarf and quilt are beautiful, as always :) Looks like a good time in NYC, but sure wouldn't want to be there tonight! I don't blame you for freaking out. I don't know what I would do if we had a storm like that and the power went out for days. In the country, no power means no water, and horses can drink about 20 gallons per day, x 3 horses, that is a lot! Way more than you could bring home from a store. Stay safe. xxx Melinda

    Oh, I don't know that any meal including butternut squash could be considered tasty... but I tell you what, you can have my share!

    I'm not horrified. Heck, Loocie and Ellie can clean the plates so good we can just put them back in the cupboard...lol!

    Makes me want to head into NYC and visit my son so that I can go to that exhibit, awesome!

    Food looks fabulous, and no, kitty dining on human plate would never bother me. :-)

    I too am keep a close eye on the HUGE storm headed this way. I may be okay here in southwestern VT but my relatives are all in the Boston area…UGH!

    It's always great to see your scarf grow with all its nice colours and patterns.

    You got to see "Starry Night!!!" I am sooooo jealous! How I miss living near Chicago where I could see that calibre of art show...
    No, I did not get freaked out seeing Mia help herself to the soup. My own DH used to let our first set of cats do that. Drove me wild. I would knock them off the table - if I could reach them. There was a while there every cat we had knew my reach down to the inch and positioned themselves just beyond.
