That hair

A friend of mine says I have an obsession with my son's hair.  She's absolutely correct.  From the time he was a baby

when he didn't have much in the way of hair.  Back then, of course, the obsession was for the hair to grow in.  Which it did.

Slowly.

Once it had finally grown in, the obsession was for cute haircuts.

Isn't that adorable?

Just adorable.

But then, slowly, the boy child started deciding on his own hairstyle.  Slowly.  From this

to this.

Getting longer.

(With his cousin.)

So the hair stayed long.

Except every once in a while, it would go from this

To this.

And people would tell him he looked like that guy from the Twilight movies.

Which he hates.  I think he likes it better this way.

Of course, right now, it looks like this.

Ah, that's better.  But it's soooooo long!  Which is how the subject of his hair came up.

And by the way, I'm still obsessed with his hair.  But now, I'm obsessed because I love to play with his hair.  Which he sometimes tolerates.

Happy birthday, Mr. Boy.  I love you.  And no, it's not possible that you're 19.

  8. Happy Birthday to your boy! I have a similar obsession with my boy's hair. First thing I will do after hugging him at his graduation from boot camp will be to run my hands over that Army crew cut.

  10. I hope he has a great birthday!

Reading this post reminds me of my husband. Growing up I used to love to play with his hair. As a little kid, his mom made him keep it short. But once he was Jr. High and High School age he could grow it out some. He has these gorgeous silky curls. All of the girls used to love to play with his hair. :D And recently I missed it so much that I asked him to grow it back out...just a little.

  12. Awww...a very happy birthday to your baby boy. My son grew his hair long once. It was so thick and beautiful and I was SO JEALOUS! Now it's about 1/8" long, at most. Why is it that men can grow better hair and fingernails than most women? It's just not fair!

  13. Wow! They sure grow up fast don't they. My son had long hair in his early teens, I called it "skateboard" hair. We all go thru style trends, but I am happy to say that it is very short now and this Momma likes it better that way. Happy Birthday to Mr. Boy!!!!

  29. Happy birthday to your sweet son, always our baby, aren't they? My 19 year old will be 20 soon - no longer a teenager and that is quite scary.

I love his hair - when my son grows his out, it's curly and thick and a nice blonde. I am jealous!

  35. Hope your DS had a wonderful birthday at home with family. Growing up in the 70's - I have always loved and certainly tolerated long hair. My DH hair was very long in the 70's and mine too but now we are old and have to be respectable and professional but I still love nice looking long hair. Cheers to you and your family - Mel
