See Jane run?

Here's Jane.

Just one more big flower motif and the over one verse to go.  Sigh.

Love the bottom motifs with the big flowers.  And the sunburnt Adam and Eve.

I cheated on the snake.  It's supposed to be satin stitched I think.  Sorry.  Didn't do it.

I was wondering just now where Mia was.  I found her here.

Which makes sense since she'd done a bra pad run earlier during the night.  (Bra pads are one of her favorite toys.)  Where is this, you say?

It's the girl child's old room.  Mia is sleeping on an old futon which we'd put down on the ground for the girl child to sleep on the last time she visited.  The room is sad looking and abandoned.  We are thinking about painting it, which is the only thing stopping me from turning it immediately into my sewing/stitching room.  Ah, a room of my own for my sewing and stitching!  But paint.  To paint.  Hmmmmmm.

And we need a bed.  Quick.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

  3. Painting--my least favorite activity on earth and the thing that's preventing us from moving out of the guest room and into the master bedroom. Forget the bed--get a nice cozy sofa that's sleepable on, then get a good stitching lamp, then cover those bare walls with samplers-to-be stitched. That's the beauty of the empty nest (my own parents had my bedroom stuff gone practically before I left the house). I hate satin stitch (coverage, not the execution of it), so I seldom do it. Jane is looking dandy!

  4. ooOoo! Pretty,pretty!
    Is Mia still sad? Confused?
Painting is the pits, I know. But you and the hubs need to psych yourselves up. Just do it. ooOoo the fun of picking colors, no? Just think Margaret, a space all your own.

  5. Jane is beautiful. I am loving the funky Adam and Eve on this one. It sort of looks like they're doing some fun, popular dance routine doesn't it?

You'd better paint quick and make up your sewing room or it will become Mia's room...oh that's right...she owns the house !!

    Happy Day and Happy Stitching....

  7. Jane is lookin' good!

I probably would have XS'd the snake instead of satin stitched too.

  8. A little paint and you have a sewing room...although it will always be the girl child's:) Lucky Mia to have a room all her own...she may not want to share. Happy Week!

  9. Oh Jane looks lovely Margaret. I can see the finish line now:)

Your own sewing room/stitching room -- YEAH for you!!!!

  10. Oh so beautiful is 'Jane'! It always amazes me to see your incredible stitching on this masterpiece.

Poor little Mia looks like a sad little Kitty, missing her boy child. What a lovely idea to turn that empty room into a sewing/stitching room, with some nice cozy, comfy place for stitching. A sofa chair, with a hidden fold out bed inside, might just be perfect! We have one, in my sewing room, which is both comfy and nice for an extra overnight visitor too!

    Blessings!

  12. Jane is looking very nice. Always love seeing what Mia is up to. Her face doesn't look like she know what's the deal about Monday... Such an innocent kitty!!

  13. Jane is looking wonderful. Almost finished. If that room will turn in to a stitching room, I'd be picking out paint colors.

    Have a great week,

Poor Mia looks so lonely! Perhaps a kitten buddy would help?

  17. You've really gotten a lot done on your sampler.

Yo've got to find the the time to get the painting done. Think of what a great craft room you're going to have!!

  18. Nice work !!! Bravo ! Poor Mia....alone in a room!

  19. Great progress on A & E! Little Mia looks pretty snuggly in her nest there. It will be so nice when you fix that room up for your own stitching nest.

  20. Jane is looking great! I wouldn't have satin stitched the snake either.

What are you thinking in terms of paint color? No matter what you decide to do with the room, it's a good time to paint, right? Might as well use the space for a stitching or sewing space!

  21. Jane is so pretty! I think you chose well by not satin stitching that snake!

Hope you can get excited soon about painting the room, think how nice it will be to have a stitching room just for you!

  22. Sooo...close.....to....finishing!!! :)

It's like Mia has her own bedroom in the house. Spoiled little princess. Heheheh. (As if cats don't think they own the WHOLE HOUSE already, right?)

  23. Jane is beautiful, Margaret! Who needs a satin stitched snake, anyway!? I'd be painting that room and moving in ASAP, if it were me. Okay, I'd beg (negotiate) Rob to paint it for me, but it would get painted! Have fun!

  24. Hmmmm... I think Mia may already have claimed possession of the intended sewing room. Hope you can work out a compromise with her.
Jane looks fabulous... A&E seem to have some excess baggage in their trunks. lol :-)

  25. Goodness how much work there is on Jane! I do like the sunburnt Adam and Eve:) paint the room while it is empty, it goes sooo much faster. And think: a sewing and stitching room all for you! What a dream...

  27. Wow, your sampler is really coming along. It's a beauty, and really big! How ever do you manage to take on such big projects?
As for your new sewing room...get going girl! Imagine the creative juices that you can start producing while you are in there. :) I do understand your pain, however, I really hate to paint.
    Have a great week!

  28. Beautiful stitching, Margaret! I'm looking forward to seeing the over-one verse...hurry, hurry!

  29. Great progress! So close...

A whole room for sewing/stitching. That would be fantastic!

  30. Ooh, a room of your own to sit and stitch, well, shared with Mia of course...exciting! We are thinking that we have to repaint the kitchen this year and I'm also thinking that I'll get someone in to do it...told the railway man that we're just too darn old to waste time with a paint brush anymore, too many other important things to do.. ;o)
    Lovely stitching as usual..

  31. Jane is just gorgeous Margaret! I've so enjoyed seeing your progress on her. Keep up the good work!

Your daughter's old bedroom looks like the perfect spot for a new stitching room. A little fresh paint on the walls along with those fabulous bright windows and you'll have a wonderful place for all the things you love best. Enjoy!!

  32. Wow on Jane. Another stunner. A&E both remind me of that old song - I'm a little teapot, short and stout lol. With your snake how would you go doing the Satin Stich on to of the cross stitch. The cross stitch gives it good coverage and you will know exactly where you are going. Just an idea.

Ahhhh a sewing room. What girl wouldn't love one of those. A place to display all our goodies, a place to sit and stitch ahhhhh heaven. - Sandra

  33. Mia is such a silly girl! LOL! So is my sylvia Joy so must be a cat thing. Your stitching is lovely and might I suggest some aloe vera for Adam and Eve's sunburn? LOL!

  34. Paint is a great idea. It will make the room yours. Love the snake-even if it isn't satin stitched :)

  35. You have made great progress on this piece in the last week. It will be finished by your next post. It will be lovely to have a room that is only used for sewing. That in itself is definitely worth the hassle painting.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Such lovely soft colors in Jane. Poor Mia! I thought she would hang out in the boy child's room. How exciting that you will have a special purpose room for your love of needle.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Your Jane looks great! You will have her finished in no time! And maybe a futon? Takes up less space but would be a place for the girl child to sleep when she visits. Aftervpaintbof course. :)

  38. Nice progress on Jane - you'll have it done in no time.

  39. Jane is looking fabulous. You are night about Adam and Eve looking sunburnt.
That room would make a great sewing room.
    Have a great week!
    Hugs to you and Mia.

  41. Jane is looking ever so gorgeous, Margaret!! And so near a finish, woohoo!!

Love the snaps of Mia...she is so sweet! I think you ought to go and look at paint colors soon, what a great room you would have to call your very own. And a bed would fit in the corner...:)

  42. Your Adam and Eve sampler looks like its almost dne! But I'm sure that verse is going to take awhile

  43. Hey Margaret, Jane is just coming along so nicely and oh so quickly, you are a beautiful stitcher and so fast!! I am jeolous!! Paint, I love to paint, should I pop over and paint for you???

Also glad to see that Mia is slowly getting use to not having your son, her playmate, around.

  44. Jane looks amazing! Great progress--you'll be happy dancing in no time. Love the pics of Mia! :)

  45. Margaret, your sampler is really coming along! You don't have much left.

I don't like painting either, but wouldn't it be heavenly to have your own craft room???

Someday, I hope to have one.

  46. I love the colors of the border--oooh!

I may be the only one who likes it as it is in GC's room! I feel like it is so serene when there are less things, and details like the beautiful window and floors show. (I adore wood floors). Also, I like sleeping near the ground, so I would love to be a guest in your room.

A coat of paint will make it even more lovely and freshen it, and then--A sewing room! :D

  47. Ha ha--I had to laugh when I saw pictures of your daughter's room! It looks almost identical to my youngest son's. A year and a half later and I still haven't done anything with it!! I hope you are less of a procrastinator than I am, Margaret :)

Jane is looking gorgeous--you're almost there!! Is the over one on 40 ct. fabric? How do you do it--use a tent stitch? I've never stitched over one on anything about 32 ct! Good luck--I know it will be lovely...

  48. Hi Margaret, Jane looks fabulous. Love the sun-burned A&E...and they remind me a bit of the Widettes from old, old, old SNL shows. Poor Mia, she is looking lonely.

  49. Jane is wonderful, although Adam & Eve might want to see a chiropractor! ;)
Mia is so sweet! A room just for sewing and stitching sounds wonderful!

  50. Wow, wow and WOW! Margaret you are doing an amazing job on this one.

    Awww Mia looks so cosy.

Your little Mia looks so sad :(

  54. One good thing about emtpy nesting Margaret is the prospects of repurposing those emtpy rooms. I hope you execute your plans for a sewing/stitching studio soon. Jane is a stunner. Hope you have a good weekend - mel

  55. *Gasps*!!!! Jane is amazing Margaret!! I can't wait for Monday...heeehee hee :D The snake looks great cross stitched...I'm really nervous about the satin stitch. I've only satin stitched on cotton fabric...much easier than linen! The sunburnt Adam and Eve still crack me up...although Jane Atkinson's A & E are pretty hilarious too! LOL about the bra pads!!! LOL I can't stop laughing........oh sweet Mia...give her a cuddle for me!

  56. Oh my, I can't look as fast as she runs, lol. Or better: as you make her run. Absolutely great progress, and how I love the sunburnt couple, they look wonderful, lol.
Margaret, that sounds terrific - your very own stitch and sewing room. That should be motivation enough for all the painting, lol.
