Stuff

I must not be awake.  Couldn't come up with a post title so I just called it stuff.  lol!

I finished the first border on the Heart's Content piece.

Splendor XXVI -- Queen's Court by Heart's Content
And yes, there is another border.  Sigh.  The scissors are my red Bohins -- they're 4 1/2 inches long.

And last night, I finally cast off on the Wearwithall Stole!!

I still have to weave in the loose ends and find a place to block this monster.  It's huge!  If it relaxes as planned, it should be 84" long.  And it's wide too.  I'm hoping Miss Mia won't have a fun time on my stole while I'm blocking it.  Sigh.

The father type is loving his new job at Google.  He's still feeling like a kid on Christmas and is very very happy.  Even with that long commute he has to do!  A couple of pictures.  Apparently, this is what they call new Googlers.

lol!  This is the father type's temporary badge until he gets his real one.  And the Nooglers get swag too.

Please note the beanie on the t-shirt and the real life beanie.  lol!  Love it!

The girl child finally got around to going to the eye doctor for new glasses and contacts.  She sent me this picture of herself trying on glasses.

I think she's adorable, but she said she couldn't do the glasses justice.  I wonder what she finally went with.

She also sent me a picture of her doing what she loves to do most at the moment.

Look at the color in her hair!  (Yes, her hair color is real and natural.  I love it!)  The red lights make for a cool picture.

Mia has been a lazy cat these days.  It's been cooler so she's been snuggling more than usual.  And enjoying the fluffy comforter I pulled out for warmth.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

A new era

I've been stitching and knitting this week.  First up, Splendor XXVI.

I have the feeling I will run out of gas on this one soon.  I like the convenience of one color stitching, but color is what calls to me in a piece so I'm fighting the feeling of wanting to stitch on a piece with more colors.  We shall see what happens.

I've also been knitting haphazardly on my Wearwithall Stole.

Slowly but surely.  Just one more color after this one!

The end of an era and the beginning of a new one is occurring in our family.  The father type retired from IBM Research after 33 years.  He was feted and celebrated last week and had his last day on Friday.

This morning, the father type left bright and early for NYC.  He is starting a new job at a place at which I think he will love working.

Google is full of geeky nerds like him -- hey, any place that has Lego for the employees to play with is a perfect place for my guy.  I am hoping he loves his new job.

Both IBM and Google stocks seem to have noticed my sweet father type's retirement and hiring.

lol!  The father type was having some fun and created these posts on Instagram.  But yes, IBM and Google really did have dramatic falls and rises in their stock prices last week.  Coincidence??  :D

Mia has been enjoying herself around here.

She loves bubble wrap.

And she desperately wanted to play with my yarn.  lol!  Or play with my knitting bag.  Or both.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Framing at last! Also knitting, new project and very late TUSAL

I was so happy when my LNS emailed to say that my framing was done.  Hooray!  Here they are.  First up is

And All Was for an Appil.  Love the frame!

Next, Rachel Howells by the Scarlett House.

Another great frame.

And here they are on the last Adam and Eve wall.

Jane Philpot by Shakespeare's Peddler and The Hart Lives Where it Loves are also on the wall.  And yes, you see a little Liberty Hill box hanging there too.  I use it to hold one of my little speakers.  I'm weird.  lol!

I think it's time to start the next A&E wall in my sewing room.  No more room in this room!

This week I spent a lot of time knitting my Wearwithall Stole.  I just saw KwiltyKim's blocked and finished stole on Instagram and it's wonderful!!  I'm still on the brown on mine.  After this color, there are two more colors to go!

When I was at my LNS, I found a kit that I just couldn't resist.  It's called Splendor XXVI -- Queen's Court by the Heart's Content.  Here's a pic I found on Maureen's website.  I hope she doesn't mind that I'm posting it here.

I love it!  The red of the fiber is gorgeous, and I love that I can put all of my family's initials in the piece.  Here is my start on the piece from yesterday.

I put the quarter in so you can see how small the piece is.  It's stitched full cross over one on 40ct Wichelt linen using Gloriana Tudor Silk.  The Tudor Silk is so fine that doing a full cross over one on 40ct is no problem.  And amazingly, I can actually see what I'm doing -- more or less.  lol!

Finally, I keep forgetting to do my TUSAL posts.  I'm very late with this one, but at least I'm doing it.  I think I've missed a couple of posts so far already.  Here is my pic of my ORTs.

That's a lot of ORTs for me -- I tend to have very short ORTs.  So it's at least 2 month's worth, I think.  I took the pic on top of my treasured sewing box from Betsy Krieg Salm.

I know lots of you love to see pics of Mia.  Here are some pics from our play session this morning.

This is probably her favorite toy, although she has another that's a close second.  She loves to catch the twirly bird (it's 3 feathers that spin through the air) and play with it once she has it.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Stitching and knitting

I finished A Yuletide Welcome.

A Yuletide Welcome by Plum Street Samplers
called for linen in 40ct.
called for GAST and NPI

It was such a fun stitch!  Paulette has my number these days -- I just love her designs!

Since I finished my stitching, and I'd been drooling over Kwiltykim's finish of her Wearwithall Stole,  I went back to knitting.

Started the next color.  I'm over halfway done!!  Yay!

Mia helped with the knitting, of course.

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  The empty nest is quiet, the kids seem happy except for a cold here or there.  Hope everyone has a great week!
